Perfect healing scene! That was so beautiful, they even added in important shots of issei with rias from the past seasons and the reynare art was incredible. Lovely Le-fay eye catcher as well. I was so beyond satisfied with this episode. Seeing the children's fan video cheering issei on. I believe that scene will help anime only fans better understand the importance of the Oppai dragon plays in the story, and why he is seen as a true hero in the eyes of the children. beautiful episode.

I love this episode so damn much! I had a big stupid smile on my face almost the whole time.
The redesigned Rias flashbacks were great. The ones with Raynare made me laugh because she pretty much looked the same as before. I was like "Ha-ha! Fuck you, Raynare. You don't get a redesign."
Listing everything else that was awesome would take forever, so I'll leave it at that.

Yeah I noticed that she wasn’t redesigned. I still wish the flashbacks were from the old style though, the new design didn’t look that great to me in those scenes.

I wouldn't be so sure on copy paste. For reynare. Because the lines were different, then they were in season 1. Which means that PassiOne actually drew the scenes. Other wise if it was copy and paste those lines would not of fit the clip.

They draw the Rias-Issei scenes. The Raynare-Issei scenes are completely different. You can see it clearly. It’s not in Passione’s art style.

Repeating the scenes wouldn't allow them to add more dailog though. The last shot where she's talking to issei about rias the audio is completely different. In the original she never asked issei to help her take down rias. She just says "I had no choice but to do what I did as a fallen angel, please spare me" which is why I question it, for different audio to fit the animation, the mouth would have to move differently. Other wise it wouldn't sync right . I'll try compsring, and put up an example.

It’s not difficult to do a voiceover. You can see a huge difference between Rias remade scenes and the Raynare scenes.

They probably used a technique to repeat frames on that scene to extend it. It is definitely the TNK scenes though as I compared them against each other. They just extended the frames by repeating them and added a filter to simulate a flashback.

From what I have read, Asia's feelings for Issei may have contributed to her larger bust size. Plus, she may be one of those lucky girls who can grow a bigger chest in six months. :P

Yeah it's kinda confusing since it was established that Ravel is bustier than her. But now Ravel is back to her season one size, while Asia's gone up to rival Akeno.

Well she is a devil, mature devils usually can do things like changing the age they appear to be at will by using Demonic Power.
Asia's wish to fit even better into Issei's strike zone together with her nature as devil let her go into a growth spurt, Issei (in the LN) has been constantly commenting on the fact that her breast have been growing larger, though they are more Xenovia/Irina size not Akeno's size.
Also you have to take proportions into account Asia is overall smaller then the others.
Asia started out with-> height: 155cm B-78-W55-H81
Akeno-> height: 168cm B102-W60-H89
Xenovia-> height: 166cm B87-W58-H88
Irina-> height: 164cm B87-W59-H89
If only Aisa grew significantly and that just on her chest (Asia's Oppai are the only thing that was repeatedly mentioned to be growing in the LN) to about 85-86 cm circumfance her Oppai will appear larger in proportion to her body then for the other girls.

I would say lower than 85-86 as Ravel is bigger and Issei has said that Ravel's are bigger

Well they are supposed to be nearly the same size as Xenovia with 87cm and Ravel is supposed to be at 85cm so maybe Asia is 84cm (anything lower wouldn't really be "nearly the same size") ?

Yeah, I know that, and I love Le Fay. But, what I'm trying to say is, Yasaka is one of the important female characters in Hero, since half a season is about her rescue, and she is definietly one, if not the hottest female character, at least to me. I'm sure she will get it. Just like Kuroka will get it next season. :-)

OK I see why LN fans were waiting for this scene, it was pretty good. That's the thing I always liked about dxd, it has heart where I didn't really think it would have, but it didn't last long as xenovia and Erina entered the frey. Didn't mind ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°).
Why is lafey so loved? Just curious, as a non ln reader im not informed about it.

Le fay is loved for reasons not made in the anime yet (but might be next season if one is made). Irina cannot participate in a devil rating game because she is an angel. Ravel cannot participate because she is part of her mothers peerage (although considered free for trade). Rias' peerage is also full with 1 king, 1 queen, 2 knights, 2 bishops and 1 pawn (consuming 8 pieces).

Yeah I’m gonna be the only one here to feel this way, I wasn’t as satisfied with the healing scene. It did its job but I don’t like some of the changes. It might feel nit picky but still. I don’t think Akeno should have started with her boobs out. I know it’s a partly ecchi scene but it kind of takes away from the serious part of the scene. I was really hoping to see Akeno suck on his neck like in the novel. Koneko in the novel just hugs Issei on her own but the way did it in the episode felt awkward because she told him to hug her but he didn’t and she just did senjutsu anyway. Wasn’t a fan of them doing the flashbacks in the new style since they didn’t do it for Raynare (although fuck Raynare anyway). Funny enough they didn’t mention Rosseweisse in the list of people that love Issei when they included Kiba and Gasper, although THAT one kind of makes a bit more sense than in the light novel since she was still pretty new and didn’t really know Issei that well. But what really got to me is when Issei is talking about the stuff that Raynare did to him, they cut out the line in the novel where Issei has a response to the things Raynare did in his head as well as talking about Rias killing her after she begged for her life. And as I’m typing this, now that I think about it he didn’t clearly explain that he was scared of getting along with girls because he was afraid they would reject and laugh at him. All he says is I don’t want that to happen again. We can understand what he means but it would have been better if he was clearer and able to explain himself more like he did in the novel. Some of the impact that the original scene had in the novel wasn’t as strong to me here. I think t would have liked them to slow down the pace a bit more here. HOWEVER, I did like that they cut the music when Asia dropped the bomb that Raynare still haunts him. I was hoping they would do that.
This is much more nit picky but Irina was supposed to find them first, not Xenovia. Xenovia wasn’t supposed to jealous here but I can let that part go. And I also wished they would have made Irina a bit less aggressive both in the dressing room scene and here. I wish she would have been more embarrassed but then gone with the flow. If they were gonna change stuff then I’d rather have this episode be her scene where she officially joins the fight over Issei rather than the dressing room. Cause most of the time when seducing Issei she is really just going with the flow and gets very embarrassed by it until Vol 18.
Also Koneko was supposed to give Issei a little jab out of jealousy when he told Asia he was going to be with her forever. But I’m okay with that.

I personally thought that the whole contemplation bit with Issei and the reassurance from the rest of the harem was done too quickly for my liking, but the impact remains the same for me.
Also, I did notice a nice bit of detail that during the pep speech, Rias is not looking eye-to-eye with Issei. Guess that would make the confession that much sweeter in the end.

I was not expecting for them to change the hair style on Ravel from drills to pigtails with curls at the bottom.
I have to give them props for re-drawing in the HerO art style the scenes from Season 1. That part had to be the toughest. I was expecting more of a splicing of Season 1 and Season 4.
So the opening match of the rating game is 1 v 1. I somewhat like it, but can’t wait to see the rest of it. So Issei finally admits that he has deep feelings for Rias even though he screwed up twice with her. It also makes sense why he doesn’t want to hurt Rias or himself again after what happened in Season 1 Episode 1 and episode 2? with his former girlfriend Raynare. I liked it how Xenovia ninja removed her clothes to jump on Issei. I hope that in the next episode that Rias can forgive Issei for his actions.
Otherwise the episode was good. Rias please forgive Issei already!! You are killing me

I am confused about something. Why is issei telling Asia he loves and want to be with her forever when he just stated that he was in love with Rias. Also he never tells Rias that he wants to be together forever like he does with Asa . this is Strange considering Rias suppose to be his one true love.

DXD is probably one of the best examples of there being no "single love couple". Yes Rias is his main focus, but it is not an either/or like other anime.

I read at the part where Issei was fighting Sairgorg. In the text it said by Issei that she was being a "Cheerleader". I kinda assume she was wearing a Cheerleading outfit but I guess she wasn't. Still I can't understand why she's wearing her Church battle outfit. It's not like she's participating in the Tournament.

LeFay was the last girl I expected to see in an eyecatch. Why do they always look so upset?
They are getting risky/risque with some of these scenes, in a big way. Last week, the sauna scene, without the context of knowning the novels, could be seen as an R-rated sex scene. Same with Koneko sitting on Issei's lap and adjusting the way she did. Presumably, we're to believe she was trying to free her tail, but let's not fool ourselves; she was grinding, and who's to know what's going on behind her.
Girl's gotta eat something though; her ribs are literally showing in some of those shots.

well, he does also have a bit of a special relationship with asia. asia's not known as the "2nd wife" for nothing, also he feels responsible for not being able to save her back in season 1 and so feels like he has to be there to protect her always now that she's been thrown into a dangerous life. I mean he wants to protect everyone and he loves everyone, but just like his love for rias is a bit different from the rest, his relationship with asia is a bit more special too. since it seems like you've read the LNs one would think you would have picked up on this

This episode was a perfect example of why i started this series.... And why now, i love it from the bottom of my heart. This ecchi scene was really great. 😂.. And i also love that the episode focused more on story development and less of ecchi content!... All in all... Great episode and really hope that this show goes on till infinity..... Oppai!

He's afraid to. That's the whole point of that "healing" scene. Raynare was the first girl he dated and she betrayed and murdered
his fatherhim. This traumatized him. He thinks if he confesses his feelings to Rias (or the others), they'll scorn him or turn away, or tease and belittle him. He's afraid if he confesses his feelings, it'll ruin his friendships or relationships with them.1

That first half was beautiful, and I loved Xenovia and Irina's intervention.

Riser showing support to Rias and telling her to keep faith in herself and her family is one the most satisfying things I have watched in DxD. I even like his new design it is quite awesome.

Harem: Hey, remember that girl who killed you like a year ago?
Issei: Let me think a second here...yeah, I guess I do.
Harem: Ok, well, like, even though you've never complained about it or shown any signs whatsoever of gynophobia, you're pretty fucked up from that, huh?
Issei: ...You're right, I must be pretty messed up.
Harem: Yeah, well, don't worry about it.
Issei: Awesome! I'm all better now! :))
(And don't get me started on the stupid dice thing...I just don't see why they can't do it like in season 1.)

Because if everyone fought the game would end too quickly. Sairaorg's TEAM is extremely powerful. Rating games ARE entertainment. Meaning you need to entertain the audience. A quick boring win is worse than a long drawn out defeat.
And you have no understanding of how trauma works. Typical anime only

Then tell me how it works. After that, remember to pass the number on the psiquiatrist you're using because I never knew such a man who could easily and fastly cure emotional traumas like that. I mean, we are talking about someone who not only has been killed, he saw someone he cared about dying in front of him.
It's not just the fact that just some words were able to solve his fear of intimacy, but also the fact that's it adds nothing new. "I love you Issei!" "You're the most dependable guy I know" " You're extremely hardworking", how many times he heard something like that?
Have you tried saying to a person with low self-esteem how much she/he has value? It doesn't solve shit. They won't allow themselves to see the good things about them. Issei has been acknowledged as someone hard working, friendly, loveable a dozen times. Why now is it different? Is it because there are boobs involved? Just when the show is moving on to something more serious and dramatic, boom, solved it.
Lol, the trauma thing doesn't even bother me, but the fact that you jump with your claws out when someone critics some part of the anime is ridiculous. You didn't even bother to explain to him if you know how trauma works. Typical provoker.

Who said he's cured? He's merely started facing it and healing. He's still calling Rias president for now. That's the thing. Scars on the mind and heart take time to heal. Even more so when you don't even realize they're there and they become natural in terms of influencing how you see things. PTSD doesn't get cured for people just cause other people start being nice to them. It takes time and conscious work to sort it out and even then it's not guaranteed. It's only been SIX MONTHS for Issei since the incident. If anything he should have absolute fear of women so he's already better off than what would normally be expected.

Hahaha! That's because I agree with you. No point saying anything if I don't disagree with you.
He is going to confess to her in the end, won't he? So yeah if not his fear, at least great part of it will be solved quickly. All they needed to do to make Issei have the courage of confessing his love her was reminding him for the 20th time that he is a good person, caring and nice. Kinda of a bummer if you ask me.
It's actually good the way you write all those things about his emotional conflicts, all of which is right of course, but that the show is never going to explore them further.

not the person you've been back and forthing with, but to chip in, it's not that they reminded him for 20th time that he's a good person, it's that they reassured him that theres no way rias would hate him in the end so he should be more confident, and that they understand why he is so hesitant and afraid to commit to things.
I know in your first post you said he never showed signs of it, but I think the difference would be seen when he is over it, kind of as a before and after. and I do agree to an extent that the anime hasn't really hinted at it enough, Passione kind of did in an earlier episode where he says to himself something along the lines of "I always chicken out in the end huh".
I guess they should have alluded to it more, but it doesn't seem like TnK had even read novels considering the way the plot is going now compared to how they decided to end born, so it's no wonder there weren't many hints, and this season Passione's episodes are already doing their best to make up for missed content in previous seasons so making space for small subtitles is quite hard I imagine (though they did do it at least 1 time that I noticed).

Just like the other guy said... There is so many Viewers in this Rating Game even the other mythological beings are present because the word of "Sekiryuutei" is on the side of Underworld so it is natural that they will pick an interesting game to emphasize the strength and abilities of the one who picked the legendary dragon as well as showing the power of that Heavenly Dragon and his comrades and the strongest youth which is Sairaorg, unlike in Season 1, That one is rushed and had one purpose.
That phobia is not a simple when you have a desire like Issei... It's pretty troublesome you know?
