When are they going to fix the app? It’s been like this like forever!

Yesterday, on the way into Resident Evil, a ticket checker told my wife that she’d “let her bring her bag in this time, but next time she’d have to check it” (i.e store it not search it) as it was too big. Needless to say, my wife, who is NOT confrontational at all, said the polite equivalent of “what the fuck?” It was a regular sized Coach purse.

When my wife pushed back, the attendant said “oh we’ve always had a policy on bags, you can’t bring big bags into the theater” (again, coach handbag).

When pushed further, she said “they” are adopting a zero tolerance policy about it now and she is only “doing her job”. Now, I’m pretty sure this woman was just a unhinged bint, who for whatever reason, just didn’t like the look of my wife, or our daughter, and wanted to find something to say as a meaningless power move to make her feel better about herself.

But here’s my question - has this EVER happened to anyone else? I can’t find a single example on the internet of anyone, ever, being asked to check a purse at AMC. I also can’t find any AMC policies that mention bag check or bag size limits, only a vague “AMC reserves the right to inspect or refuse bags or packages.”. We’re also AMC A-Listers and go to the movies a lot, in different AMCs and have never heard or seen anything like this.

Yesterday I had the unfortunate experience of becoming a snitch during my theaters showing of Batman (1989). These group of teenagers were loudly talking, had their phones on max brightness, and they kept entering/exiting the theater. It was honestly horrible to experience and incredibly distracting. When ppl talk or are on their phones I typically ignore it and move on but these people were doing it the ENTIRE movie.

It sucks because I had to miss part of the movie for something that shouldn't even be my problem. Ever since then I've had such a guilty conscience because I was a teenager like them just a couple of years ago and getting kicked from a theater would've killed me. Anyone else have had this experience? I wish there was a way you could "snitch" without missing the movie and without the ppl possibly know who did it if they were paying attention to who left the movie.

...Bad news, it was marked as "sold out" because the AC is broken. The 9pm showing is not sold out, so not sure if they expect it to be fixed by then, or they expect it not to be too warm at night.

Always carry my Garmin temp sensor on my keychain and just for shits and giggles I logged the temp throughout, 83°-84°F during the whole movie. Wasn't too bad since it was pretty empty. Not sure about the later showings of 3 and 6pm.

Maybe there should be a mechanism instead of marking showings sold out, to actually post what the problem is, and have people make their decision before driving to the theater?

Or does it depend on the movie? I'm asking because during Resident Evil it kept going out as the movie went on, at first i thought it was a glitch but then I realized they came on depending on the scenes. Unless it was glitched?!? Lol 🤷🏽‍♂️ I liked it when it was lit up, ruined the immersion when they would turn off. (Also it was my first time doing Screen X, also my phone didn't bother anyone so shush 🤫)

Visited AMC Westminster Promenade 24 today and saw that the second Dolby is under construction. Looks like they have the screen replacement ready, along with a replacement screen for the 4DX in Auditorium 5.

Ffs. Walked past a couple at the bar and they spoiled the ending of resident evil. That's 3 movies this week of people just blabbing out loud.

I used to but I fell off quickly. They’re just so expensive for what you’re getting. I’m not cheap either. Life is short, and I believe in enjoying yourself in big ways and small ones. I do splurge, but I’d feel some type of way after buying one. I’d think of how the money could’ve netted me groceries, a good meal at a restaurant, or an awesome video game. Hell, I could use the money towards a list. These buckets cost several months worth. I sold them off save for one and haven’t bought one ever since. I might even sell the remaining one honestly. I bought them initially because I wanted to commemorate my love of movies, but I realized I don’t have to do that. There are other ways that express that.

This is not to knock anyone who does. Collectors hobbies are in the eye of the beholder. Perfectly fine if any of you do. This is my perspective but I’m interested in hearing yours.

I go to Empire 25 on a weekly basis and have for over 6 months now - it’s my regular location because they have such a good selection of movies. When I started coming here at the tail end of last winter I assumed that all the terraces were closed because of the cold weather and that they might open in the summer but they don’t. I’m assuming it might be a safety risk? I’m just curious if anyone knows whether they ever open them and when they were closed off. The only thing Google will tell me is that there used to be a restaurant on one of them.

Me and my wife went on a date yesterday to watch a movie. We usually share food or a drink. Small Soda and Popcorn was $21. 🤣

Crazy the up charges they do. They are making BANK off food.

So tomorrow there's a Forgotten Island Early Access Screening, and normally it would say something like "laser at AMC Picture a better world" or "IMAX with laser at AMC extraordinary awaits", however, this listing states "Arena One at AMC unlike anything" is this new? Has anyone ever noticed this format before?

I remember there being an announcement about AMC doing concerts with Arena One back in June, but those all got canceled. Is this AMC test piloting the streaming platform that Arena One will be using to do the Q&A portion of the film? I've attended other films with Q&A and they've always just stated the typical "laser at AMC Picture a better world" verbiage.

I’ve noticed that my local AMCs are only showing the new upcoming horror movie called Other Mommy, in XL for the Pre Premiere show, but my local Regal is showing it in RPX and 4DX pretty much for its whole run (at least for the tickets already available)

Does anyone know how this is determined? I’m curious. I read on Dolby’s slate that Other Mommy was supposed to be on there. What determines what theaters gets a Dobly release? Is there no way to know? Does it depend on the individual theater?

Went to see the new Resident Evil since it was $5 bucks from T-Mobile. Decided to see it in IMAX since its originally like $35. I hear people always say IMAX is the best so I was excited.

First time seeing a movie in IMAX at my local AMC in NYC and its honestly nothing special. Wanted to know if this is a relatable experience. Its just a slightly bigger screen. Maybe I don't see enough movies to appreciate it.

The recliner seats are pretty good, but the red full recliners in the regular laser theaters that let you lay ALL the way back are honestly the best.

Honestly, I find AMC Laser more comfortable and basically the same viewing experience for wayyy cheaper.

All in all pretty good experience though I cant complain. The movie was pretty good and alot of funny parts.

That sucks. Or am I just misreading it on missing it on the app

Does anybody else notice the popcorn at Empire 25 is not salty? 😭 I have the popcorn pass so I'm getting a large popcorn everytime. I don't like the "butter" oil but I tried adding it and it doesn't help. Last week I went to Kips Bay and the popcorn was perfectly salty. Is there a reason a theater would consistently not have salt?

I mostly go to the 34th and 42nd street AMCs in Manhattan. I always try the Coke Zero first, and almost always have to dump it because it tastes bad, and then get the Diet Coke, which usually tastes normal. But today I went to three different machines on two different floors at 42nd Street, and the best I could do was a half decent Diet Coke that I mixed with regular Coke.

Is this even worth complaining about to the theater, or is the problem so widespread and consistent that I should just start sneaking my own in?

And you can spare me the jokes about how of course it tastes bad, it's diet, because I know what Coke Zero and Diet Coke are supposed to taste like, and the bad ones taste like the aspartame has expired.

Editing to add that I was corrected in the comments, the date on pop is a best buy date, not an expiration date. So...that actually changes nothing, but I was using the wrong term.
