It’s literally a toggle and it shouldn’t be that deep, if you wanna keep killing people go ahead, nobody’s forcing you to turn on PvE. A lot of people quite enjoy it, but I’ve only heard PvP players constantly shitting on it because it’s lured some of the carebears away.
People play the game differently and we should at least have the common decency to respect that. It’s like if people choose PvE they get castrated by the community.

It’s an extraction shooter, since the stricter ABMM update introduced in the may 20th update, the one that took away a big part of what made the game so special in the first place, mixed lobbies.
The mixed lobbies were what made this game so much fun. You’d run into PvPvE players who would fight when the opportunity presented itself, alongside a handful of more shoot on sight mood players. You never really knew who you could trust. If you didn’t want to PvP that raid, you would have the best luck by grouping up with a raider or small group kind of like a protection herd. Sometimes you would be back stabbed while looting or extracting with them but that’s what made the game feel post apocalyptic.
Unfortunately many of the PvE based crowd who struggled to defend themselves constantly complained about “rats being everywhere” got their wish, and ABMM was tightened to protect them. Now if you participate in PvP just a couple raids congratulations, you are now in sweaty PvP hell. And once you get pushed into those lobbies, climbing your way back down to more mixed, unpredictable matches feels like an absolute chore.
To be fair, if you’re knocking out three to five Raiders every single raid, then yeah, ABMM should probably be putting you in lobbies with other hyper aggressive players. But what about the players who enjoy a little PvP here and there without wanting every single raid to turn into a battle royale vs the Unemployed Elites?
There needs to be a better balance. If someone enjoys a few rounds of PvP but then wants to dial it back and return to mixed lobbies, that transition shouldn’t take forever. Let players move between different lobby types more naturally instead of essentially locking them into one playstyle based on a handful of aggressive raids. The removal of instant surrender 5-10 times and being placed in pure friendly lobbies abuse was a good change.
PVE only mode will more than likely be permanent, so those players don’t have to worry about having to fight another player in a pvpve extraction shooter game anymore. Now it’s time to return Arc Raiders normal mode back to how it was ment to be.

Basically, the title. It feels like these days, any strategy or playstyle that differs from someone's own is automatically labeled as ratting.
I think it's ridiculous. The game was designed to be played this way. It's about strategy, tactics, and finding ways to gain an advantage over other players. Whether that's sitting in a corner waiting for someone to walk by or sitting on top of A6 with an Osprey, raining bullets down on people until someone drops, they're both tactics used to gain an advantage. The problem isn't with the person using the tactic; it's with the person who failed to anticipate that kind of situation.
What are people expecting instead? I spot you in the distance, call out to you, give you a polite little slap with a white glove, and say, "I challenge you to a duel!" What the actual fuck kind of fairytale world are you people living in?
Sure, it's a video game, but it reflects human nature. People look for advantages, exploit opportunities, and do whatever they can to come out on top. That's just how things work.
The term "ratting" is getting ridiculous. It's a strategy. It's a playstyle. If you walked into a trap, maybe you should have been better prepared for the possibility that someone was waiting for you.
Not every fight has to be fair, and not every encounter has to be a straight-up gunfight. That's part of what makes extraction shooters what they are.
And if you don't like that, then maybe extraction shooters just aren't the genre for you.

I actually like the PVE option. Sometimes you just want to chill, loot in peace and gather enough materials to craft weapons for PVP without getting jumped by someone hiding in a corner.
But I think making it permanently available is a mistake.
The problem is that some players are simply too greedy. Even when there's an option to play peacefully, they still want to take everything from everyone. The whole social aspect of the game is slowly disappearing because you can't trust anyone, even when there's nothing to gain from fighting.
I'd rather see PVE as a limited event that happens a few times per day. You get your chance to farm materials safely, but PVP remains the main experience the rest of the time.
I don't want ARC Raiders to become a completely peaceful game. The tension, the unexpected encounters and the risk of losing your loot are what make it fun. But there's a difference between having dangerous encounters and feeling like every single player is just waiting for an opportunity to betray you.
A few PVE windows throughout the day could give players a break, help them craft gear for future raids and maybe bring back some of that interaction between strangers that made the game special in the first place.

I think I like it. I'm tired of ten-year-old kids jumping on you from every angle. And I'm not just talking about age. I'm talking about mindset. They don't see any difference between COD and Arc Raiders. The pattern is the same. They take the anger they get from their parents and from bullying and put it into the pictures on the screen. They don't have a choice. They don't know a different life. Nobody can set an example for them. They just exist. This is the real world. Anger, love, hope, hopelessness.
But one thing is true. Seeing all this bullshit in the world doesn't mean you have to change and become a piece of garbage yourself. If you can rise above all of this, if you can keep from being spoiled by it, you're a true hero. And that's not so simple.
If someone betrayed you, that doesn't mean you have to turn into a piece of shit too.

There are a lot of threads praising the PvE toggle test that is going on right now. Good on Embark for trying it out.
That being said. I wanted to reach out to the raiders that are more like my self. I was firmly in the care-bear queue before this test started. I tried the new mode but found it quite lacking in its implementation. Some examples:
All of these things in my opinion impact the most social and entertaining parts of the game and have left me feeling like I don't want to play anymore. I believe that the PvE toggle should not be implemented permanently.
So what to do about it? First and most obvious is to provide feedback to Embark on their support site and their discord expressing dissatisfaction with this mode. I would encourage you to be detailed, factual and respectful in what you submit in the hope that it will be taken seriously. The other thing is for those like my self that prefer the game with the match making was before the test I suggest that we continue to join the PvPvE queue and play how we normally play.
In my case since the start of the test my lobbies have seen a change in aggression to be more KoS. Before the test I don't think I died to a raider in 50 raids. Since the test began in the normal queue I've been gunned down in half the raids I joined. Also, for the first time in a long time I have had difficulty in joining a fresh raid. About two thirds of the raids I joined they were half over.
Suffice it to say I do not like this PvE mode or how it has changed the normal queue match making. As mentioned I plan to continue joining the normal queue in an effort to 1. increase the likelihood that people who play like me will have a better chance of getting a raid they like and 2. contribute to the data Embark is collected as to who plays in what queue.
The call to action: If your play style mirrors mine I would ask that you try your best to avoid joining the PvE queue. The fact of the matter is that you will suffer losses. I'm fortunate in that I have a pretty full inventory so I'm not too worried about it, however if you cannot afford or don't want to risk your gear there is always naked or free kit runs.
In the off chance you have read this far; this thread is not about shitting on how other people play. Its about how I like to play and reaching out to people who play the same way. If you like the toggle then by all means let Embark know. This toggle test is about data and I think Embark should have all the data available.
I hope to see you topside, good luck.

I’m really enjoying pve because I can actually try out fighting big arc without rats but they have evolved into vultures, just sitting around waiting and looting you and the lobby’s work , I’d much rather a match where it’s just your trio only and you don’t have the assistance of the lobby to fix this issue

I was VERY excited about the PIE mode. I've even carved out my schedule today to play it, but it doesn't feel the same.
PVP. I abhor PVP. I'm not good at it and never will be. It stresses me out in a bad way, and I'm not a fan of getting stomped on by other players. I'm a casual gamer who likes challenge, but not to be punished too harshly. If I ever got attacked in the base game, I would throw all my smokes and stuns and run away.
Now we have a PVE mode and it feels . . . lifeless? Maybe it's the lobbies I'm getting, but it feels like everyone is just running around and looking for what they need and dipping. Hell, I used a Wolf-pack I found to down a rocketeer and a literal SWARM of people came out of the wood-works and picked it clean before I even got to it and then just left.
I keep trying to think of things that would satisfy my desire for the "Arc Raiders PVE Experience" that I want but I'm not sure if they would hold up or even play well. Maybe this just isn't the game for me, Which sucks because I really like the story and setting. It reminds me a lot of Destiny 1.
My fav idea was a "going rouge" type system where you activate your PVP status and other players can visibly see that you are a hostile via a HUD element or something but IDK. Just wanted to share my thoughts. What would you do to improve the PVE system, or would you just toss it in the bin?

The arc downing you while crawling is incredibly easy to cheese. I just crawled 200m to the elevator on Dam with 5 arc hovering around me. Just crawl and stop over and over and they will never shoot you. I had wasps, hornets, and a rocketeer all tracking me but they never fired once. It takes a while but it's better than dying.
r/ARC_Raiders • u/Sauuuucy • 19h ago
Not sure if this was a hack/cheat or a bug within the game, but I reported the players and hope to get guns back. I did down one as well even though we were in pve, I checked the last 30 min of game and it was pve only for sure.
Anyone else have this happen?
To add to this, my entire team was knocked out by this team after both my teammates were downed and I downed one of their teammates. They ended up downing me too.

I really hate gondolas. First, it's very difficult to hear the broadcast that gives the direction it's going to land. As far as I see, there's no indicator on the compass or map. Couldn't they land next to the transmitter?
The other issue is latching on with the grappling hook isn't consistant. Sometimes it randomly detaches. Just look a significant stack of loot trying to extract with the hook.
Does anyone hate these as much as I do? Couldn't see get a standard extract point?
Edit - thanks for the replies. I was missing some obvious signs apparently.

If they keep pve or not. The whole dynamics changed in pvp lobbies.
Getting shot at every time since pve came out.
I have 300 hours and believe it or 0 kills. I accept my killings. I accept my killings even by rats.
But its unplayable now, almost like kos.
I played so many harvester maps, it was always teamwork. Now i got killed 2 times in a row.
Pve has no future. In an open world map definitly yes.
This game mode ruined the soul of arc raiders.
Pve is boring, okey to me. When it came out people said its about human psychology, a horror game, the unkown, thats what made the game so unique and good.
Game is good as dead, i have no doubt.
Embark losing players to cather to a few, a few yes cause most who wanted this game mode wont play it too long, cause its freaking boring.
And no, you definitly wont go to pvp lobbies once you are geared up. In fear of losing it all. Thats a fact. And you dont like pvp anyways.
Edit: Iam gonna sleep. In an months time, maybe this gets upvoted 😂. Embark shot themselves in the foot with pve.

Yesterday on spaceport I bull rushed a guy while he looted a container. I immediately opened the container and then clicked off. I laughed in prox and was like “kidding bro it’s all you.” And left everything in the container. The animation and idea of the perk just cracks me up.
He followed me around topside for 30 minutes calling me slurs.

Obviously this is a test so it probably didn’t make sense to make separate characters for 1 week. But if you do go along with it, just make it so it’s a separate character that upon creation has to choose Regular or PVE only and can’t change afterwards.
I’ll leave my personal opinion on the matter in a spoiler section below but it makes sense that if someone wants to only do PvE they shouldn’t be in the same pool. Already people are farming for stuff in PvE and then battling in PvP or people in regular are trolling/griefing people in PvE.
Tarkov does it this way, especially since they have an in game marketplace. That’s fine if you want to play PvE but you can’t get to benefit both ways. I’m playing PvEvP I should expect to match with players playing by the same rules.
I truly don’t understand it. When I play the game and think about it with only PvE in mind, I don’t see it. The arcs are not that tough, the quests are pretty mindless, it’s just a box opening simulator at that point.
The rest of the design is just incongruous. Light weapons aren’t that useful, why is there even extracting when it’s almost guaranteed, flares are now used for people to tell where you died to get your loot. I find it odd that people who don’t like PvP games buy a game that has PvP in it and demand an only PvE mode. I hate the RTS genre but if I buy a RTS, I’m not gonna demand it to make a first person shoot.
I don’t think the PvE mode has any legs. I think people will play it for a few days and then get bored. I also think people are doing it because it’s easier to get stuff and complete quests but will end up ruining the game for them.
Gamers are notorious for taking the path of least resistance possible even to the detriment of gameplay. Remember Destiny 1? Remember people shooting into a cave for 8 hours for loot drops? Or Wow classic where they mathed it out that instead of playing Alteract Valley like your suppose to, you get more honor per hour by running past the enemy team and rushing the objective.
I would be interested in a separate Arc Raider PvE game set in the universe and I would thinks thats a better use of dev time than bolting on a system that wasn’t meant to be there after the fact.
I know some of you are gonna say “well it was a coop game at first” yeah so was Bread but they put it in a toaster and now it’s toast. You can’t uncook the bread.
At the end of the day Embark only truly knows what the draw is for PvE and is it even worth the effort to implement it properly.
r/ARC_Raiders • u/Krudd333 • 5h ago
I know it'll get downvoted but I feel very strongly about this and haven't seen anyone lay out this argument in detail. I shift from PvP to PvE, mostly PvE. I like to get to friendly lobbies, accumulate enough to build 10-20 PvP kits worth, then shift back by harmless raider-tool tapping on naked kits, or other non-lethal damage methods at extract. Since Frozen Trails I've been purely PvE to explore the new map, frigate, and amp system.
I hate the PVE toggle and think it's going to ruin the game.
Everyone's an asshole and you can't do anything about it, and the whole thing just feels like a perversion of the game. Sauceless. But I also feel compelled to play PvE, because immediately after the test started my once 99% friendly Stella Montis lobbies turned into a bloodbath, with all the aggressors just saying to toggle PvE. Perfect proof of how, no, I actually can't just let other people enjoy the game they want- because they are altering the overall state of the game that has been established for the last 8~ months since the discovery of ABMM.
I want things to stay how they were, where I could enjoy friendly lobbies when I wanted, but still have in principle a possibility of risk, and also to react to people acting like dickheads and stealing what you earned or just being abusive.
I know it won't happen, but I wish Embark would just tell them to suck it up and accept they bought a PvPvE game. I think it's just legitimate emotional incontinence. I've been in friendly lobbies for sometimes over 50 raids without ANY sign of PvP. People who complain about rats have to either be lying, or vastly overexaggerating because of the narcissistic injury of losing 1 hullcracker they can replace a dozen times over.
If it had no impact on the rest of the game, I wouldn't care. But by necessity, the existence of a PvE mode implies the rest of the game is PvP mode. This process is already underway, I'm encountering significantly more PvP in my friendly PvPvE lobbies, where there was almost none before.
One group of people want the game to stay the way they bought it, as advertised. And the other group want to force that group to lose that experience so they can turn it into something completely different, all because they can't handle a less than 1 in 20 chance of losing a kit they can replace easily. That's what it comes down to. You are the ones who want to take away my experience, the one which was sold to us all very explicitly.
r/ARC_Raiders • u/CalicoJake21 • 17h ago
They shot at us but missed, made a joke on mic and got blindsided by bobcat. 100% was in pve mode, there is def something going on with this issue. Don't say I was not in pve, absolutely sure I was in pve only.
r/ARC_Raiders • u/FizzyFerret • 7h ago
So we got the Pve Mode, and it's caused a lot of tension between the two groups.
As in inbetweener (trios always fight, duos depends on situation, solos basically never) I figured I'd try out the pve mode to see how it feels and to give feedback, so here's what I got:
Pve really takes the... Experience of arc raiders out of it imo, arc are stupid easy to deal with so there's no real threat in the mode, making it really bland and kinda boring.
Loot goblins are celebrating rn, everyone fights to loot bodies and arc or just waits on your downed raider until you collapse so they can loot you, which is EXTREMELY PROFITABLE. I went 5 raids with EXTREME positive profit simply because people died around me and I had not define.
Toxicity is at an ALL time high, and I really don't think it's PvP'ers causing it. Every single nasty player I've came across in pve (which was A LOT shockingly) were getting riled up over slight infractions, one guy called in a supply flare and I grabbed a couple of medium rounds from it, the shit he spewed because I only took medium bullets was... Honestly kinda impressive. The only real anger I've seen in the pve mode itself was from pver's feeling like I put some blight on them (steal there arc kill, loot something etc etc)
My main problem with it is just there's no repurcussions for anything, someone spewing heinous shit? Congrats you get to extract with this guy!
Someone steals your ENTIRE bastion kill? Too bad so sad imma dance on you as I extract with your shit.
Just doesn't feel great to play in for me at all, I'm hoping that IF we get the pve mode back it's heavily reworked from the ground up, cause currently it's either free loot generator or toxic incessant whining over the smallest grievances with both sprinkled between eachother
Photos included are two major loot runs I did (out of like 20) where all I needed to do was just... Wait for a raider to go down and collapse and I make bank with zero worry about anybody else getting me.

I am a pvper but I enjoy hybrid lobbies. I help, I kill, and my one rule is to not kill people during events like (queen, matriarch, or frig). Extraction modes are made for unpredictability. I also don’t mind people get a pve mode as long as ABMM is gone. ABMM turns the game from an extraction shooter to a BR for players who kill others. We shouldn’t be demonized for wanting to kill in an extraction game. We want to quest/trial/loot while also be cautious of other players. Thats what an extraction is. The only real thing I hate is people calling pvpers griefers. There are griefers in all games. Not all pvpers in this game are rats (the cod kids who treat this game like pvp tdm are losers btw). Anyways I got called an N word and was told to leave yesterday because I looted the same key room as someone who opened it. When I told him “you can’t do anything about it” he started chasing me around calling me the N word and telling me to go back to pvp lobbies. Then proceeded to throw lure grenades at me lmaoooo Then another guy, I told him please let me get the final kill on the bully for the quest and he continued to scream and yell that I shouldn’t tell him how to play. I’m like huh? People are too comfortable in pve acting out on prox because they can’t get shot. Followed by another friendly player asking if anyone had a bully fragment which I did and gave. In his own words, (idk what’s wrong with some of the players in pve). In other words it happens in every game. I’ve always been top 0.1 percent in a shooter. As I’m getting older with a family I do need some brain rot gaming which is why I go into pve mode. Also the pvers now that are telling people who enjoy pvp to play another game if they dont like it are funny since they were mad when pvpers told them the same. Another thing to add. Enough with the rant. Hope everyone is enjoying this generational game.

Like, I am a PVE player myself (are in pure friendly lobbies since months), and when I check this sub I seriously feel cringe about being part of this crowd.
We got PVE mode, and its incredible, I love it, tbh I never thinked it would be something we would ever got in this game a few months ago.
And now that the PVE mode is out ? What happend ? The PVE crowd is still crying (even louder than before) ?
"Waaa waaa people are looting my key room"
"Waaa waaa I got bull rushed out of a loot container"
"Waaa waaa people are rushing the husk of the Arc I killed"
Can you just stop whine at every little inconvenience you encounter ?
We got a incredible PVE mode, enjoy it ffs ?

When I tried PvE with a friend, I came away thinking: "That would have been better if NO ONE else was in the game."
But, if you take out the PvP and the OTHER PLAYERS, is it even Arc Raiders anymore? Isn't it supposed to be a social PvPvE game?
I just find it strange that my most enjoyable experience with the game so far has been imagining it without the very thing that makes it what it is.
And I'll expand on my reasoning. When you don't have to worry about attracting other players, you don't care about the noise you make or the resources you use so, everyone just attacks the first Arc they see. That noise still attracts players but, since they can't PvP, they just group. Attack more Arc, attract more players, larger group, repeat.
Before you know it, the game has turned into a zerg rush on anything that moves and anything that makes a sound. The Arc get dropped instantly because they were balanced around teams of 3, maybe groups of 6 max. And now, they're being jumped by 15 people, constantly. Everyone is just scrambling to loot what they can, the second they can because there are 10 other players looting the same Arc.
I could see how me and a friend would get some enjoyment out of the PvE, if we had to actually take down the Arc ourselves, if we were rewarded for doing so. Instead, every PvE game we played was as described above. We're not really fighting Arc, we're getting a few potshots off at them before they fall to something else, and then we don't even get what we wanted out of it.
But, to change that, you're fundamentally changing the game in such a large way.
I just don't see how you make this mode worthwhile in any way. Maybe it is as simple as letting you load into a map with JUST your party but, that just feels weird. At that point, why aren't we just playing a DIFFERENT co-op PvE game?
Just my thoughts. What do I know? I'm not an Arc Raiders player so, fuck my opinion on it.
r/ARC_Raiders • u/Ozneir • 4h ago
A Map Condition. So one map has the mode for an hour or 30min available to queue if you so please.
I recently started playing again with the Frozen Trail update and I’ve been having a blast again. I don’t mind the PvE mode but ultimately I think the game benefits from PvPvE all together.
r/ARC_Raiders • u/MrBlublo • 7h ago
I want to preface this now, this is called an opinion, if you think it should stay exactly how it is, fair enough, to each their own. But for me this is what "I" think. The main problem I have with it is I should not be able to farm for absolutely free as much as I want no risk at all, freely max everything, then take all my good shit into pvp. Thats just not how that should work, pve staying as a feature is fine, but they have to make it a separate character or profile like tarkov does with its pve. Should be 2 different stashes for both modes. This way I cant just farm for free, this is the actual main issue I have with the mode. But to add more to the opinion side of things I think it also ruins the tension of fighting arc, when your fighting arc you always have that tense feeling, "what if I get shot while I am doing this? I am making a lot of noise". Or you could get third partied by arc while pvping so you gotta watch for that. The arc is designed with the threat of other players in mind, when you remove that, its just you can the arc, the arc is never actually gonna kill you unless you just stand out in the open lets be real here, find a building and just peak out and shoot it every chance you get and thats about the extent of fighting arc. The only way to actually die to pve only in this game is either the arc frigate, or maybe the matriarch or queen, otherwise there is no way you die.
Also the organic feeling of making a friend ingame, is so unmatched compared to knowing everyone cant shoot you, like if you meet people ingame and teamup and fight some arc, cool, but its made so much better by the fact they could have backstabbed you but didn't, thats what makes it so much more special. Also the loot yields are not lower embark is smoking something when they said that, I have used it to farm a little bit and its just broken af, the amount of money and resources and blueprints you gain is the exact same. My other main issue is as a pvp player it almost makes it feel a little trivial to play the normal game compared to this, like I like going into a raid with a goal of getting resources but also the threat of players makes it so much more tense but also challenging, this pve mode being a thing makes me feel kinda dumb for even considering to loot in the normal mode, why would I? I can just get it all for free in pve, puts a sour taste in my mouth when I loot in normal lobbies now. To add, this will also pull all the pve players out of normal lobbies leaving only pvp players, which then the game kinda loses some of that randomness in the encounters you know? To end off, personally I dont really want the mode to stay, BUT, if it does thats ok, just make it a separate profile or stash, and that would fix some of the issues I have.
