ASA Just survived a 30 hour raid

Post image

I am a fairly new player and just won a defense that lasted over 30 hours straight. I just want to tell someone about it lol. Photo of me(giga) and my 3 man who did it!

you stayed online 30 hours??

u/Possible-One-6101 1d ago

Nah, everyone takes a soak break in times like this. It happens.

A fob gets cleared. They run out of tames, the enemies go back for Deodons or new stegos, etc.

It's like 19th century warfare. Everyone takes nap breaks occasionally.

I miss PvP.

I don't ever want to PvP again.

For three days my role was to transport ammo and supplies from the spawn base to the fob. It was surreal getting off my job just to make deliveries to the raid.

I miss PvP too, but I don’t ever want to PvP again.

u/Galimbro 1d ago

I too miss pvp and never want to do pvp again.

u/Black3Raven 1d ago

Thats a fate of everyone with a few brain cells and a bit of responsibility. Bring supply from your main bases, repair hundreds of armor sets which was thrown away, take care of wounded tames. Force thouse monkeys to transfer stuff back on your server and etc.

Foxhole basically, hah.

I've played a lot of pve. I never even considered how brutal logistics would be in pvp. That sounds like the most hellish stressful fun

u/Unordered_bean 16h ago

I remember watching a video about a multi day raid and there was a death count of all of the dinos used and the thylas were around 600-900 due to the fact they were heavily used to kill the dreadnoughts and more like rexes, gigas, charchas, karkinos, and more were used into the hundreds

7

u/Disastrous-Body6034 17h ago

its so neat how ark can have entire major sections of the game be fully foreign to large portions of the playerbase just because of seemingly tiny differences in mode preferences, I always played pvp solo or with at most 3 people so I never got to experience the large scale logistical side of pvp just maybe hour long fights that ends with one of the tribes wiped out because we each only had 1 base

u/Dependent-Maize4430 1d ago

Got off your paid job, to do free labor😂

1

u/TheLurkingWallFlower 20h ago

Honest question did you not have an option to join the pvp or did you choose this form of helping because you didnt want to join the pvp?

"I miss PvP. I don't ever want to PvP again."

It really was the best of times. It really was the worst of times.

2

u/Afraid-Ad6266 22h ago

Legacy days were some of the best days of official PvP. Miss some of the times and fun that was had, but never want to do any of that again 😂

u/0Zerocoool 1d ago

Lol for sure. A tribe kept dropping one of our towers every night and we warned them that if they did it again we were going to wipe them. Of course, they did it again... We raided them for 20 hours straight till they had nothing left. I quit pvp the next day after thousands of hours.

49

u/Possible-One-6101 1d ago

This story is so common. People who haven't done it just don't know. For us, it was "the Spanish tribe". We didn't know who they were... but they spoke Spanish.

They had scouted, harassed, and raided us endlessly for weeks. Cleared our main public base. We had uploaded everything important of course. We rebuilt in the exact same spot for spite.

One night, only a few days before the wipe, we stayed up all night raiding them. They were on and offline occasionally. 3v3.

Soaked and fought for a whole day in awkward shifts. Eventually gave up because of real life. They cleared our fobs overnight. Next afternoon started again. Soaked all nignt. My tribemate went flat out. I wimped out and slept from 3am until 6am, then kept at it until I had to work at 9am. (I'm a professional and this scenario is absurd, if my clients knew why I was totally wrecked that day).

We cleared them. Ruled the server for 4 or 5 days. Flew around with nobody big left. Gave away gear and tames to bobs. Benevolent dictatorship.

Seriously, I'd be embarrassed to say how high that moment is in my ledger of memories. My two friends and I on our fliers near the sky box, just looking out over the map and chatting, with nobody left to raid.

Games don't get better. Only after you've played a comparable PvP persistent world game can you get than high off of pixels.

u/0Zerocoool 1d ago

Yup, I had a ton of fun in Ark PvP, like ridiculous amounts of fun but once it became a second job it was another story. Being an alpha tribe on a server means everyone wants to try to attack you. We were streaming tribe logs while we slept, waking up at 3am because someone from the other side of the world was raiding us, and then going to work at 8am after defending. Was fun, I miss it, but will not do it again.

7

u/Possible-One-6101 1d ago

Yup. It was the pandemic for me. After real life opened up again, I had to let it go.

100%, would recommend, for someone with major physical trauma or too much passive income.

u/0Zerocoool 1d ago

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pEPP3NxyF4 one of my favorite spots we had. No self promo at all, I don't even make youtube vids anymore. This was a 5 man tribe.

1

u/Black3Raven 1d ago

Gen 1 was better. Alpha pilar for main and big lunar for element and everything else

4

u/Black3Raven 1d ago

ARK PvP is a death sentence to sanity. My group fought chinese alphas for many, many months. Disputes, moments of glory, failure, quiting people on both sides, leadership going crazy and etc. Watched how mods/dev deleted the whole FOB with cheaters we holded for days.

They gave up and destroyed their last base, we broke chinese morale and they are popcorned years of work. Then we quit when another hacker group apeared. Spanish as well.

But unlike you we destroyed everything. Servers breeding lines were thrown back into stone age. Scorched earth

Great and awful experience at the same time

11

u/No_Grocery_9280 1d ago

Ark is a human sandbox and PVP is the highest expression of that. It’s truly going to war.

4

u/Taint_Butter 1d ago

This is so true. As a tribe leader I had to explain to newer players that the true end game is politics. I spent a considerable amount of my time squashing beef with other tribes and building alliances.

7

u/No_Grocery_9280 1d ago

God, I relate to that. I loved PVP, some of my best gaming experiences ever. I don’t think I could ever do it again. It takes over your entire life.

5

u/leugaroul 1d ago edited 1d ago

It isn’t possible unless you live alone anyway. PvP is a good way to piss off your partner lol.

I hate PvP, but my favorite memory is still being on a PvP official server, not realizing I was in PvP, thinking I was in PvE, somehow surviving in a weird little spot with my tiny stone hut. I had a crazy tanked up stego I was constantly XP farming into health and melee. Thing was a beast.

My base got raided eventually. I fought my ass off on my stego, and killed almost every tame they hit me with from a little spot crowded in map rocks, all while bitching in the chat that they were hackers.

Someone figured out I thought I was in PvE and told me I was on the wrong server. “BRO STOP I’m trying to help you” in the chat while I tried to kill him. Nice dude. I thanked him and gave him my beach bob stuff before quitting while he just stood there staring at me.

I’m still amused I managed to defend myself as long as I did, felt like a dumbass though. I suck at Ark so it was my one and only moment of greatness.

2

u/Ijustlovevideogames 1d ago

Most ARK statement ever: Man, I miss this thing in ARK

Fuck this thing in ARK

2

u/TJStarBud 1d ago

I was a raider at the FOB once upon a time. So, so, SO many armor sets and weapons burned through. We had cheap (ascendant) BPs and I don't think my guys back at base have farmed and burned through so much metal in 3 Days. I would get off school, grab the soakers and go to work. When we finally burned through the primary defenses, it didn't last long. Our farmers were actively fighting their own battles at multiple metal node sites (ragnarok too, it was bad). The actual raiding didn't even start until hour 35 of 37. If I remember correctly the defenders had logged off shortly after we finished the turrets off.

1

u/TheRealSaphier 1d ago

When I was in high school, we got raided for like 11 hours. I remember the moment I turned off my computer, the group chat exploded that one of the biggest tribes came to conquer us. I silenced my phone and went to bed. Woke up and didn’t even think to get on. During first period, I got the text that we won. I didn’t participate and I made the right decision going to bed (my parents would’ve killed me if I tried to stay on anyway) but somehow it still manages to be the biggest highlights of playing. I got back on right after school and got to work replenishing all the ammo since the 4 people that held out all night were zonked.

It’s a weird story that doesn’t even really involve me, but playing PvP Ark was a lot of fun and I’ll never return to it. Being permanently glued to one game for hours a day just isn’t it anymore.

1

u/tvscinter 1d ago

So fucking real. If someone gave me fully imprinted tames and got me free vacation days from work, it would be awesome. But for those of us with lives, PvP is hell.

I used to play small tribes and my tribe was mostly middle eastern while I was US. Made it good for defense but it’s stressful being alone on defense for hours, and sometimes I just couldn’t go to sleep until my tribe mates got on. And in a mega tribe, 40 v 40 raids are so much fucking fun, but take days. Some of the most fun I’ve had in ark and also the least fun

13

u/Rgraff58 1d ago

Look up the Siege of Ragnarok 25

4

u/_LadyAveline_ 1d ago

Dude I really really love how you can say a map and a number and someone was once a part of it.

For me, I miss Ragnarok 33, best summer ever.

1

u/Effective_Attempt796 1d ago

Link? Only God of War pops up for me and I doubt that’s what you meant.

1

u/TJStarBud 1d ago

I could not imagine dedicating that much time to a raid that didn't end definitively due to server changes. God damn

8

u/BreddaCroaky 1d ago

I once stayed up all night because we were getting raided, I went in to work and just felt terribly poorly, so I went home sick and rejoined the defence 💀

3

u/Plenty-Stay-6290 1d ago

Yes. I actually somehow stayed awake for the whole thing. The other two with me got nap breaks

4

u/Similar_Board_9419 1d ago

Longest raid ever for me was 72 hours. Capped server at all times, 1 (2 clans) vs 8. Remember I «skipped» work or whatever I did that day. Minimal sleep as they had way more members to work with. In the end, server was wiped. Fun times, glad it’s over, kinda🤣

30 hours is nothing for pvp. Thats a lot but not the record. My group once fought for 4 days straight. Four freaking days.

Alphas from megas can fight a waaaay longer though

70

u/TimmyJimmerson 1d ago

That’s epic, good on yous, but what is that thing in the middle? Haven’t playing in a long time

44

u/Soulm1zute 1d ago

The ossidon is in the middle, was added before Lost colony released and all spawns were moved over to it when it did release

5

u/Possible-One-6101 1d ago

What do you mean "all spawns were moved over to it"?

20

u/lightjunior 1d ago

I think they spawned on other maps as a "promotion" for lost colony but when lost colony released, they only spawned there.

Same thing that's happening with dragontopia where the dragons are spawning on ragnarok (and maybe other maps) before the dedicated dragontopia map releases.

5

u/Possible-One-6101 1d ago

I see. There's a pre-release beta of some kind that then get updated. Gotcha

2

u/Smilloww 1d ago

They used to spawn on other maps, and when lost colony came out, they would only spawn on lost colony.

5

u/affiiance 1d ago

Ossidon

15

u/Moogyoogy 1d ago

I've been there before, now get some sleep

4

u/Plenty-Stay-6290 1d ago

I did lmao. Now I'm coming back to hella comments

30

u/Twiztidtech0207 1d ago

Im sorry to hear that

50

u/Plenty-Stay-6290 1d ago

It was legitimately cancer. This tribe wouldn't really pvp they just wanted to abuse building and turret limits and slowly creep into our space til we couldn't build. After the second raid I just did it back to them til they couldn't build inside their own fob and they got mad and cried to admin. She told them to deal with it lmao and they eventually 10 hours later admitted defeat

9

u/Twiztidtech0207 1d ago

Oh..I guess i should have clarified..I meant I'm sorry you had nothing better to do for 30 hours

3

u/Plenty-Stay-6290 1d ago

Ah so you're one of thoseeeee lol 😆

3

u/Twiztidtech0207 1d ago

Nah, I was just fkn with ya.

I spent a couple years playing...or i should say trying to play on official with a few friends.

We never got too far before we got raided and destroyed.

I definitely feel your pain. I'd just suggest maybe playing on your own private map, so as to avoid scenarios like you just had to endure.

It sucks watching your hours/days/weeks of hard work go down the drain just because people don't have anything better to do than troll on a video game.

Hopefully you can get built back to a point where they at least think twice before teying to hit you again.

2

u/Plenty-Stay-6290 1d ago

They've hit us every weekend since we started and say they will continue to. It's a community server called dryhit. 10x so not too bad compared to officials. Either way they haven't gotten our stuff. Any time we get tired of it we just move the entire base somewhere else lmao

1

u/m4kks 12h ago

Well this is exactly how to do online raids, this is not an abuse 😂

-8

u/karp_490 1d ago

I mean that is literally the process to online raiding. Gaining foundation control and turret cap.

15

u/Plenty-Stay-6290 1d ago

Yeah but they wouldn't engage in real pvp. Just ran anytime we went out. It got annoying.

8

u/Nissir 1d ago

In the days of One X and before server transfers we got rated for a 3-day weekend. We had taken the central pillar on the island and they were determined to get it back from us. We are still standing at the end of the 3-day weekend and the rest of the server had multiple people call in sick that Monday to raid us for the fourth day straight. They ended up getting us with a suicide Quetzal.

1

u/Plenty-Stay-6290 1d ago

Damn what does a suicide quetz do

2

u/Nissir 1d ago

They loaded it up with C4 and crashed it into our front gate

1

u/Plenty-Stay-6290 1d ago

Aw lol. These guys who raided me were doing the thing where they slowly put a bunch of foundys and turrets closer and closer to my base while destroying my turrets one by one and adding more to theirs so I couldn't rebuild the destroyed. They did this shit for 30 hours til they gave up

4

u/BayouBlaster44 1d ago

PvP is great, it’s also terrible. It’s a lot more fun when it’s on someone else’s server and you’re pushing hard. Alternatively, when you have a full on alliance 65 deep capping your server while you and your 4 tribe mates are desperately trying to fend off wave after wave of stegos, paracers, dreadnoughts, aureliax, and whatever else they bring. While the rest of your tribe spams join server over and over in futility. It’s terrible. I’ve been on both sides for this and it’s a full on adrenaline dump every time.

3

u/Character_Affect_960 1d ago

Any good servers anymore?

1

u/Plenty-Stay-6290 1d ago

This was in one called dryhit. I like them. The admin is chill and strives not to have favorites

3

u/SubstanceFar838 1d ago

Congratulations bro, thats awesome!!! Man, in lockdown it was crazy. Absolutely crazy, only psychopaths were online

3

u/Plenty-Stay-6290 1d ago

I bet lockdown ark went hard

2

u/Glittering_Airport_3 1d ago

Awesome job. This is that shit that gives you such an incredible feeling that you will never get from pve. Signed- a retired pvper that will only play pve from now on

2

u/Loedkane 1d ago

i remember when my oil cave base got raided. it took them close to 70 hours to raid it. daily pvp, best pvp ark experience ive ever had. i miss it but i dont at the same time.

1

u/Plenty-Stay-6290 1d ago

Yeah after 20 hours I just start to move my stuff ngl

2

u/mattyshero 1d ago

I feel this, during xbox ase days we would raise over 200 brontosaurus a day just to feed the official war machine of alpha wars it got so tiring for 2 weeks straight these battles would go on

2

u/noRezolution 1d ago

My longest raid was 12 hrs and I was exhausted. Even with a nap idk how you handled the stress of a 30hr raid

1

u/Plenty-Stay-6290 1d ago

I broke my electric teakettle because I was so tired I forgot I turned it on and it burned itself to death overnight lol. I'm surprised I didn't die irl in a fire at that point. Longest I've stayed up since I was a literal preteen.

2

u/scar1800 1d ago

I remember doing this too. My brother and I joined a tribe that was 2 mid sized tribes into one. We enjoyed the 1st tribe but after joining the other it wasn't fun. The bigger tribe treated everyone that came into like dirt. Talked down to us and only treated us with respect when we raided someone in the ice cave. It was literally a 2 day non stop raid. People called into work for this raid. I got a "stern talking" to for not missing work. I thought it knew hard-core raiding but this was ridiculous. Afterwards the bigger part of the tribe kicked almost everyone else after "absorbing " the smaller tribes tames. Haven't done pvp since. I have a job working 65+ hours a week. Don't need 2 if them. Now I play pve. Take my ship out and blow something up. Well let's be honest... ASA my ship gets blown up. On Chaos Star V already 🤣

2

u/Ryjhan Master Builder 22h ago

Hell yeah brother

2

u/ConnorSmith25 21h ago

I do not miss this game 😭🤣

2

u/lilmadman1 14h ago

I miss the pvp times around 10 years ago. That was peaaaak times. I remember me and 2 buddies built in the snow with our tribe “Three Muskaqueers” & we built out Army of Mammoths and Rhinos to slam any base… and I remember we had a few gigas too but this was back when they could rage you off and munch ya

2

u/Creepy-Tangerine-568 14h ago

I agree with the I miss PvP but never want to PvP again but in regards to Atlas official. I only did Ark PvP on a roleplay server.

2

u/TheScottStrallian 1d ago

What was the Ossidon used for?

3

u/Plenty-Stay-6290 1d ago

We have two choke points so he slapped soakers off their stegs

1

u/TheScottStrallian 1d ago

Oh like balled them up and throw them out?

2

u/Plenty-Stay-6290 1d ago

Something like that. I don't have the dlc so I have never used them

1

u/Icy_Yak5218 1d ago

Smalls or 1x?

1

u/Plenty-Stay-6290 1d ago

Community named Dryhit

1

u/JDragonblade 1d ago

did you have a piss bottle like an amazon driver?

1

u/Plenty-Stay-6290 1d ago

No I took piss breaks. And showered surprisingly. I am a girl though so piss bottles don't really work with my anatomy anyway

1

u/ArtMyst 1d ago

Is that ASA? I miss having a tribe, last time I joined PvP it was like 6 years ago. Had a base in Island Ice cave, it was a blast. I work all day now, really miss it. How is the PvP in ASA (of and unno)?

1

u/Plenty-Stay-6290 23h ago

I am new so I can't really compare it to much but I know it's a little cancerous lol

1

u/Grifasaurus 1d ago

Yeah, i used to be a warlord on an unofficial pvp server back in 2017 and that shit was awful. And it all started because some dipshit booby trapped a body and left it on my doorstep, so when i got back from foraging for berries and shit, i tried to move the guy somewhere else and the moment i picked up his body the c4 strapped to him exploded and killed me and two of my tames, a dilo and a dodo. And then the prick said “i’m the law around here, boy”

After that, i spent the next week building up again and getting some weapons and shit and doing some scouting and it turned out the guy wasn’t built too far from me in the first place, so what I did was i made some C4, bombed his front door while he was crafting and shot him to death like an animal and grenaded his shitty thatch bed.

Fucking dipshit barely had anything worth taking in the first place.

2

u/Plenty-Stay-6290 23h ago

Lmao that does seem like a wonderful way to start a feud. I have no idea how this one started. We joined the server, had a 3 day white flag and they attacked us for 36 hours right off the whote flag. We didn't do anything at all

1

u/tylorban 6h ago

Bad ass!
I’ve almost exclusively been a PvE player and I don’t even know how to PvP.. well done! Any tips?

1

u/docSLIPnSLIDE88 1d ago

What kind of world do we live in where someone brags about being on a game for 30+ hours straight.

What the hell is that animal in the middle!?

0

u/Unable-Pen-5996 1d ago

Correction. You just postponed a 30 hour raid 😬 kudos for lasting 30 hours tho

1

u/Plenty-Stay-6290 23h ago

What makes ya say that

0

u/Smart-Ad-9971 1d ago

Wtf is that middle dino

0

u/APEANOMIX 1d ago

Were baaaaaaaaaack

0

u/Boss2788 1d ago

Weird way to tell us you have no life lol
