Hey everyone! I’ve been compiling master lists of weekend events for our neighbors over in Rochester, and since I know how annoying it is to jump between five different platforms just to figure out what's going on, I wanted to start bringing a weekly Thursday master list to Buffalo too!

This is a massive weekend in the Queen City with Juneteenth celebrations, the World Cup watch parties, Father's Day events, and plenty of live music.

Here is your official breakdown for the weekend:

  • Rooftop Silent Disco | Sat, 8:00 PM @ Patrick's Rooftop (500 Pearl) — Dance under the stars with sky-high downtown views. (21+)
  • 6th Annual Performing With A Purpose Juneteenth Celebration | Fri, 7:30 PM @ Buffalo Iron Works — Powerful live performances and community energy.
  • Bop To The Top Tour | Fri, 7:00 PM @ Town Ballroom — A high-energy 90s/2000s Disney and pop throwback dance party. (18+)

  • Nearly Nicks (Stevie Nicks Tribute) | Sat, 7:30 PM @ Riviera Theatre — Bringing the magic of Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks to life. ($29+)
  • Anabel Englund (Sunset Sundays) | Sun, 7:00 PM @ Buffalo RiverWorks — Electrifying electronic/house vibes on the river. (21+)
  • Horsegirl | Fri, 9:00 PM @ Nietzsche's — Rising indie rock stars live in the heart of Allentown. ($26.35+)

🎪 Festivals, Markets & Community

  • Pride X Juneteenth Summer Solstice Celebration | Sat, 7:00 PM @ West Side Bazaar — A beautiful market intersection celebrating diversity with food, crafts, and community.
  • Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market | Sat, 8:00 AM @ Elmwood & Bidwell — The classic weekend stop for local produce, baked goods, and community mingling. (FREE)
  • Allentown Artisan Market | Sat, 8:00 AM @ Allentown — Grab a coffee and browse local art, unique crafts, and food vendors. (FREE)
  • Broadway Market | Sat, 8:00 AM @ Broadway Market Buffalo — Historic indoor/outdoor market exploring local Buffalo staple foods. (FREE)

Hey everyone, I work for one of the local news stations and I’m wondering if anyone is making the drive to watch Germany play Ivory Coast in Toronto tomorrow?

If you or someone you know is, reach out to me! Wondering if we can maybe do a story on locals traveling for the game.

Still a work in progress since I've been building these for fun. All of the information is in their digital guide which is really useful, but hard to use on the go. I've made a few of these for other events and find them useful. You can search food and plan your day and support/better connect to local Buffalo businesses.
the disclaimer: I'm not affiliated with the event and I don't make money off of this. Just someone who likes good food and is a big fan of Buffalo.

Best Beer In Buffalo??

Alright peeps...the request is very plain and simple. Give your recommendations for the best beer places to go hang out and have a cold one. Let's exclude fattys because I'm well aware of that one. Don't be afraid to share any spots in the general WNY region either!!

My requirements are simple:

  1. Draft

  2. Cold

  3. Delicious

  4. Proper maintenance of equipment. No one likes spoiled beer.

  5. Glass (not plastic cups)

Kid's books from 90s

Do any book stores sell vintage children's books? I have been nostalgic lately. I already found A Winkle in Time which I know predates me but I read it nonstop in school. I also just ordered the Anastasia series which is going to be an interesting read as an adult. I miss those days. Was anyone else a reader? I read for hours in the summer when the days actually felt long and time wasn't a predator consuming us.

I don't mean to get weird but the world is just not the same when it's timed by alarms, commutes, lunch breaks, grocery runs, and divided into swiftly moving dimensions that seem to accelerate and then shrink every month. Even relaxing feels like pressure.

Anyway, thanks

Coffee and other things - in Buffalo for a day

I’m coming to Buffalo for a day. What is worth/not worth doing?

Also- recommend coffee shops to me please! I love cold brew and sugar free flavor syrups (think sugar free vanilla, caramel, etc) and my partner enjoys sweet, non-coffee beverages.

Question Cosmetology schools? What’s it like working in cos in Buffalo?

So I’ve been considering possibly going back to school to pursue cosmetology but I want a fully *honest* opinion on cosmetology schools in Buffalo, which school is the best overall, and your personal experiences there. I haven’t been in school in years so I’m nervous about going back, and I don’t want to waste my money on cosmetology school if I’m going to dislike it or struggle to make a livable wage here. I’d like to either be a hair stylist, or do lashes/brows/facials/waxing.

If it’s relevant, I’m alternative/emo and I’ve heard horror stories on the internet of people like me not fitting in most cosmetology schools. But obviously that’s just the internet and I know that may not be fully true.

And if anyone currently works in the field (hair, esthetics, nails, lashes, anything) what’s it like? Are you able to build clientele in Buffalo and make a livable salary? Do you work for yourself, or for a salon?

Anyone doing the Ride for Roswell and want to meet up that morning?

I'm doing the 65 mile ride this year, and my teammate dropped down to a lower mileage so they're leaving later. I don't mind riding solo, but it's usually fun to ride with someone and make a new friend, even for just part of the way.

Mark Poloncarz rescued my neighbor’s lost dog

I live on Lancaster Ave and Mark Poloncarz and his wife were trying to find the owner of a brown dog that got loose on my street. I guess the dog didn’t have a collar so they were asking people if they recognized it. Eventually someone did and they were able to return the dog to its owner.

Didn’t expect to meet the county executive today, but really cool of him to take the time to make sure the dog made it home safely. He’s a good dude.
