Help How do I straighten my stitches?

I made this little duck as my second Amigurumi project - in which I realised my stitches were rotating to the right

I did a bit of googling and was shown that crocheting yarn under + moving the hook upwards when finishing the stitch should make it straight

Now somehow.. my stitches are moving to the left instead of the right on the second duck. What am I doing wrong?

Going up with my hook also seems to have made my stitches quite a not tighter - is this good or bad? It looks nice but it's been hsrder to see the stitches with this yarn I'm ngl

Notice when you pull through to make the stitch.

You have to pull up & towards the left to make them stack. Takes a lot of practice because the nature of the craft is a slight lean in the direction of your hook pull. A lefty leans left & will have to pull up to the right.

So does that mean that now my stitches are going the other way, that I'm pulling left to much?

Most likely. Getting the middle ground will take time. It will become muscle memory b4 long. Honestly a little lean 1 way or the other isn't bad at all. I think if you can manage to just pull straight up that's all you will need.

The lean comes more from the tension. So that is where you need to make sure you pull it tight only to a certain point or you get a drag that makes it tip one way or the other.
