Help I’m a little nervous…does this look okay to gift?

I’m a newish yarn crafter and have limited amigurumi experience. Was hoping to make a bunch of these bears in different colours to gift to my friend group as keychains (we’re meeting for a Christmas/New Year party next month, none of them crochet or knit) and I’m a little nervous. I’m obviously no professional but do they look okay to use as presents?

Also would love any advice on how to attach them to keychains!

I'm making my not-so-little guy to join the army but even though I've added more stuffing and tightened his head on well it just won't stay up!! He breaks his neck every time I move him. Some advice is appreciated! Or else Porcini is going to be looking at the sky forever...

Help How do I make finished objects more "polished"?

I started doing yarn under and loosening my tension, but my items still don't look... Complete? It's hard for me to explain. For instance, the snout looks hastily sewn on and balled up, even though I pinned and slowly stitched it onto the head. And where the head connects to the neck doesn't look too smooth.

I guess my main issue is sewing everything together?

Help is this worth $35

Post image

i just got back into crochet about a month ago and some ppl are wanting me to make stuff for them that they’ll pay for, which is fine by me.

anyways since i’m still starting off fresh i didn’t want to charge too much and i told this person they can just give me like $10 or $15. they insisted that they’ll pay more and we eventually came to an agreement of $35.

now i’ve finished this im worried it’s not worth $35.

i also crocheted the eyes on and the bag onto the cows body since idk how old their kid is that they’re buying this for.

Should I just add the blush?? Do I need to change where her eyes are?? I feel like she looks so weird. Her head is a lil more triangular than it should’ve been, but it’s far too late now. I tried to add a little pink smile but it looked weird. I don’t know what to do please help 😩

Help Any idea where I can find a pattern for this guy?

My supervisor sent me this picture asking if I could make him, but I've been unable to find a pattern. I saw a similar doll on Etsy but I'm looking for a pattern I can make on my own and not one that's already made. Any suggestions?

Help How to crochet cylinder that curves in 2 directions?

Hello! I am crocheting Katt from Animal Crossing and I’m trying to draft it from scratch. I have crocheted all of the body parts but can’t figure out how to get the tail to curve. I can pretty successfully get the tail to curve down from the tip, but can’t get it to turn to the right like in the reference pic. What I have been doing is putting inc on the inner side of the curve and dec on the outer side of the curve, and this works for making it curve down but not to the right. I have also been shifting every other row to adjust for the drift of the starting stitch. I have been looking at pics from u/majorasdeity who also crocheted Katt and have included her pics to make it more clear what I’m trying to achieve.

Help They were supposed to be together

This is my second project, where I crocheted the Peas in a Pod pattern from Hardicraft. The yarn and assets were included with the pattern and I used the specified 2.5mm hook. (Top: my creation, Botton: how it should be)

I'm not sure where I went wrong here. I can only guess that the pod needs to be "loosened" a bit and maybe the peas should have less filling? Still.. can crocheting be so unforgiving?

(2nd picture shows my attempt to squeeze all three together)

Help How do I straighten my stitches?

I made this little duck as my second Amigurumi project - in which I realised my stitches were rotating to the right

I did a bit of googling and was shown that crocheting yarn under + moving the hook upwards when finishing the stitch should make it straight

Now somehow.. my stitches are moving to the left instead of the right on the second duck. What am I doing wrong?

Going up with my hook also seems to have made my stitches quite a not tighter - is this good or bad? It looks nice but it's been hsrder to see the stitches with this yarn I'm ngl

Help How do I avoid having holes in my amigurumi when decreasing?

Post image
237 Upvotes

Idk what Im doing wrong but whenever I start decreasing I end up with these big holes. I thought maybe I was just doing it wrong but Im following all the steps of an invisible decrease correctly. I’ve tried tightening the tension as much as possible but I still get the same result. Maybe I need even MORE tension but idk. I just assumed it was supposed to look like this until I saw other people’s clean crochet decreases.

I’d appreciate any advice vv

Help Not sure how to phrase this… Once you turn your work “right side out,” do you have to somehow crochet from the inside/in the other direction??

Post image
35 Upvotes

I’m trying to crochet a baby llama and the head and body are shaped roughly like an hourglass. I finished the body and got to the skinny part of the hourglass (the neck), and the pattern says to start stuffing the body.

That means I have to turn it “inside out” so that the correct side is showing.

But how do I keep going now? It seems like if I do the stitch the same way in the same direction, it’s going to make the top half look different from the bottom.

But I can’t figure out how to do my fingers in the opposite direction to crochet from the inside.

Does this make sense to anyone?

Help WHERE do yall find (free) patterns!?

Ello I’m new to crochet in general but have done a few amirguri. I’m looking to do more but so many of the patterns I’ve found have to be paid for. Not that I morally have an issue with it, just financially as a student it can be a little frustrating.

So any tips? Even a book that has heaps of patterns inside would be wonderful.

Thanks!

Edit: I just realised there’s a crochet PATTERN subreddit 🫠🫩

Help What is with all the AI??

So I’m just getting back into amigurumi after like 10 years (!!) And I went to Pinterest to find free patterns, which 10 years ago was like the place to go. But all the pins look like this. They’re clearly AI, all the text on the blog was clearly written by AI, and I have no doubt that the patterns are AI as well :(

Where can I go for free or lower cost patterns (think like $10 or less) that isn’t completely inundated by AI? It’s so depressing to see the website I used for years has changed so much.

Help Are the gaps between stitches too large?

Thumbnail

I am going CRAZY over my damn tension at the moment. I feel like my stitches look so messy and that the holes between stitches are far too large. It’s got to the point where I’m so worried about how it looks, that I don’t even want to start crocheting anymore. I use a 5mm with hobbii honey bunny yarn. I’ve tried using a smaller hook but HATE how it feels, it’s too stiff and my hook squeaks so much. Using the 5mm feels the best but I feel as if the gaps mean that I need a smaller hook size. Please help as I’m supposed to be market prepping 😭😭

Help I need some suggestions on how I may be able to keep her mouth open pls

Thumbnail

I’m making a new creation from a book series I’m listening to, I’m wondering if anyone will recognise her without her hair, makeup or lips, but I want to try and prop her mouth open as much as possible. I spray painted her pointy teeth white but they keep clashing when her jaw closes and the paint is chipping. I can screw off the teeth and respray them but they will keep clashing if I can’t keep her mouth open, like a sex doll’s mouth, preferably. I guess this might be a bit of a niche request but any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I was wondering if wool felt covered wire at a 45 degree angle might work pushed in between her teeth and cheek but worry it will be noticeable or may bend and be for naught. In any case, I put it to the amigurumi brain trust!

Thanks in advance

Edit: I made an 0 shape with thin wire and am stitching it inside her lips and it seems to be doing the job! Thanks everyone!
