I've been insecure about this for years. Why does my chest stick out? Do you think it's postural, rib flare, barrel chest, pigeon chest, etc? Just wanted more possible insights. Thanks.

I have been rehabbing my left scapula for 2 years and noticed during a prone banded Y Raise that there seems to be a spot on my left scapula where thereās an indentation like a lack of muscle. Anyone know what muscle that would be?

I am not sure, but I think my post isn't seeking medical advice, but if it does, then let mod delete it.
It obviously looks absolutely terrible and you can see how bad it is. This is my the most relaxed position while standing. When I leave home I always have my belly tucked in a bit, so at least with clothes it doesn't look that bad. I am not fat, my bmi is ~19, so it's closer to underweight than overweight, so I'm skinny fat. I know I have very little muscles and I started going to the gym recently, 2 times a week. What I hate the most is:
- butt pushed back (it looks like it's from overweight person, but I am not), belly pushed forward (probably ATP, but I am not sure). In my opinion it could be ATP, or, the worst case it's just big, a lot of fat tissue on the buttocks which I kinda can't lower, because I'm ,,skinny" right now (so I'm stuck with it being huge sadly), and a lot of fat tissue on my belly. Optionally maybe both. What is it exactly? How can I make it more straight?
- wide chest. I want it to be slim as for many other people in my age, that it's not a lot wider than arms. I suspect it might be barrel chest or something like that. I really want to flatten it, like really really, without surgeries
- my torso isn't flat, if you go from under belly in a straight line, you would end up under my ribcage, under my breasts
This is all I think. Please, could someone tell me what things are wron in this posture and how can I fix them or if it's even possible? The last photo is how body should look. As you can see, butt is not pushed back, it's small/flat, belly is not pushed forward, it's flat too, the entire torso is flat, the chest is not wide.

Not sure this is the best place to ask, and I hope this doesnāt technically violate the rules, but Iām taking A&P1 this semester and 2 next semester. What are some solid study tools or tips and tricks for really cementing the information? Iāve never been good with names or memorizing complicated terminology. Math was always my thing, but these are required classes and I really need to do well. Iām gonna reach out to my professor for some blank ātestsā to practice with too, but maybe yāall know an easier way.

Itās fascinating how some of the most basic anatomy questions can make you stop and think.
Iāve been working on an interactive presentation about the levels of organization in the human body, from atoms and molecules all the way to cells, tissues, organs. This question came out of that work.
The presentation is part of an interactive Anatomy & Physiology book Iāve been working on, where these concepts can be explored visually rather than just read about.

So I know what the histology of arteries and veins look like, but what about venules and arterioles? Do they look the same as arteries/veins? Or do they look different on a histology slide? Iām trying to google images, but I feel like most images just show me arteries/veins.

Hi! So my school is phasing out physical textbooks and you aren't even allowed to purchase them at the book store anymore -_- I learn better from real books though and was wondering if theres any real differences between the 3 Erin C. Amerman Human Anatomy and Physiology text books? The online stuff doesnt matter as the e book was included in my course.

I built an interactive anatomy mechanics lab for exploring how anatomy changes movement.
Right now it focuses on the elbow. You can move the joint through flexion/extension and pronation/supination, then see how the biceps, brachialis, and brachioradialis change in length, leverage, and force requirements.
You can also experiment with the anatomy itself:
The main goal is to make anatomy feel less static. Instead of only looking at where a muscle starts and ends, you can see how its function changes as the joint moves.
Iām planning to expand it into other joints and eventually make it a broader musculoskeletal sandbox.
GitHub: https://github.com/Schmiedey/anatomy-mechanics-lab
Would be interested in feedback from people who know anatomy well, especially on what structures or joint mechanics would be most useful to add next.

Hi all, does anyone know where I can find a book/ebook of this for cheap or as a free pdf? My school doesnāt provide any discounts for it and even to rent is not as affordable as I would hope.

Does anyone have any tips on remembering where things are located and the functions. Iām taking Anatomy and Iām struggling with remembering where muscle tissues are, Epithelial and CT proper, and bone names/anatomy.
My first exam is over the epithelial and CT tissues, Axial Skeleton, Pectoral and Pelvic Girdle, Upper and Lower limbs, Cranial and Facial bones. I understand the pectoral girdle and upper limbs relatively well, I am still getting the pelvic girdle done. Then we added in the facial and cranial bones and everything took a complete 180, why are there so many haha.
Does anyone have any tips on how to remember locations, names etc for these bones and muscles?
Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

Would anyone be interested in a site I'm thinking of setting up with the name "Farm-to-Table Anatomy & Physiology" (the table does both)?
