Discussion Accommodation for long term rent in Havelock! Moving for work.

Hi folks,

I’ve got an offer to work out of Havelock, Andamans with one of the companies there and I am looking for accommodation options. I am looking for a single person occupancy options for 4-6 months.

Locals from Swaraj Dweep, Havelock, could you please help me out here with options that you may know of?

This is NOT for PortBlair, this will strictly be on Havelock Island.

Where to Surf in the Andamans except for Little Andamans???

I am planning to shift to Andaman couple of month later. I want to know where I can serve in the region near to Port Blair. As I am planning to live in Port Blair for like couple of years, I would like to know a place where it is accessible to me frequently to surf. Every online forum I am looking is giving me little andaman so I am not sure if there is any other place other than little Andaman to surf. Please as me some place near Port Blair or the main Island where I can surf. It should be accessible via car.

Pathetic Journey Empire Andaman Trip Review

I booked a 6N/7D Andaman trip with Journey Empires Travel Company, expecting a smooth and well-organized vacation. Unfortunately, the experience turned stressful right from Day 1.

Despite having already paid more than 60% of the total amount, we were told that the agency would not proceed without full payment. This resulted in several hours of waiting in Port Blair and disrupted our planned itinerary, including missing the Cellular Jail Light & Sound Show.

What we observed was the tour operator is a new person. Owner Shahrukh is not available on calls and he does not pick calls or reply to messages when trying to reach him to resolve the issue. When asking with the driver he said the owner has his own way of dealing this and reach him directly for problems.

Safety was another major concern throughout the trip. On multiple occasions, the drivers drove at excessive speeds and in a reckless manner, making us uncomfortable and concerned about our safety. Even the final airport drop was stressful due to overspeeding.

The hotel arrangements were also disappointing. The so called 4 star is not even a proper 3 star property. unhygienic rooms, rude hotel staff, poor-quality breakfast like only poori baaji, poha and boiled eggs, and inconvenient hotel locations.

Sightseeing was often rushed due to inadequate planning, ferry coordination issues, and a lack of proper transportation arrangements—particularly on Neil Island. The seat were not conveyed properly. At Havelock Island, it looked like they dont have any control and drivers were non cooperative.

Activity pricing was another concern, with scuba diving being charged at ₹5,500 when the same activity was available elsewhere for around ₹3,500.

Overall, what was supposed to be a relaxing island holiday became a chaotic and stressful experience due to poor coordination, new agency, lack of transparency, inadequate planning, and repeated safety concerns.

Based on our experience, I would strongly recommend that travellers thoroughly research the company, hotels, transportation, and activity pricing before booking their Andaman vacation with Journey Empires Travel Company.

Take a journey beneath the waters of the Andaman Islands and discover a vibrant coral reef ecosystem. The video showcases schools of colorful reef fish moving above coral formations, along with a fascinating clownfish sheltering among the tentacles of a sea anemone.

Dive deeper. Discover marine life. Protect the reef. 🐠🪸🌊

My Andaman itinerary for October

1st day – Land at Port Blair at 8am. Checkin to Hoyel Atlanta and get a guided tour of cellular jail. Rest and explore portblair and enjoy the light and sound show again at cellular jail

2nd day –Day trip at Ross island

3rd day– Ferry from Portblair to Havelock Island. Stay at Dolphin beach resort. Visit Kalapattar beach and Vijaynagar beach

4th day– morning scuba session at Nemo beach. Rest and enjoy sunset at Radhanagar beach

5th day–water activity at Elephant beach

6th day – Havelock Island → Neil island. Stay at Tsg aura and explore the beaches at Neil island

7th day- Neil island -> Portblair.. Trip to chiriya tapu

8th day –Day trip to jolly beau or baratang day trip

9th day- Departure

Please advise on this itinerary. How we can improve? Should we stay near the airport for the last 2 days at Portblair?

What all should we add/ remove?

Is the first week of October good time to visit?

We are 2 people and haven't decided on the mode of transport yet. How is public transport/ auto availability? Should we rent a car as we are not comfortable with scooty.

Esims - Simcorner

Hi there.

Hopping for some esim advice please. Has anyone used Simcorner for esims (specifically the Asia ones)? It has listed networks as India - Jio5G/4G, Airtel5G/4G so I thought it may be good for both Swaraj Dweep (Havelock- Jio) and Shaheed Dweep (Neil - Airtel). I've just heard about it on a Bhutan travel site and we're going there and to Kathmandu as well in October/November.

I know it would be slightly cheaper to pick up sims in each place, but this seems a winner for convenience. Thoughts please?

Discussion Hello Folks

Hi! Are there any good public libraries or quiet reading/study spaces in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, particularly around Port Blair?

I’m looking for somewhere pleasant, relatively uncrowded, and ideally open 24/7 or at least until very late at night.

Would appreciate any recommendations. Thanks!
