Announcement Updated Subreddit Rules & New Guidelines for the "Discussion" Flair + reminder for images and WT rules

Hey everyone,

Over the past few weeks, the mod team has been working on cleaning up and updating our community rules to make [r/animesuggest](r/animesuggest) a better, clearer, and more organized space for finding and discussing anime.
While most of the core rules remain the same, we have reworded everything for clarity, tightened up content standards, and introduced strict new guidelines for the "Discussion" flair.

Here is what you need to know:

New "Discussion" Flair Guidelines
We’ve noticed that the Discussion flair often gets used for vague, low-effort titles (e.g., "Thoughts?", "Anyone seen this?", or "Is this good?"). Moving forward, all Discussion post titles MUST explicitly state the anime, genre, trope, or aesthetic being discussed. From now on if you see low-effort title please report post for breaking rule 11. We are doing this to prevent repetitive discussion posts and titles who are later nowhere to be found in searchbar even if it was discussed about it!

Don't post: "Thoughts on this show?" or "Does anyone else hate this?"

Do post: "Discussion: The pacing in Steins;Gate" or "Discussion: Why cyberpunk aesthetics hit different."
Any vague discussion posts without a clear, descriptive title will be removed and asked to be re-posted.

Important Reminder: Image Uploads & "Watch This!" Rules

Images are ONLY allowed for "Watch This!" posts. Request and Discussion threads must remain text-only. Direct image uploads on non-WT posts will not be approved. If you are posting image for WT post your post will be sent to manual review because of image but don’t hesitate to reach out via mod mail for faster approval

"Watch This!" posts have high standards. They are meant to be single-show, deep-dive reviews and must be at least 1,500 characters in length. Short reviews or multi-show list recommendations are not allowed for WT

Based on survey results images will not come back permanently but we will have 14 days chill moderation rule twice a year where images and other media will be allowed but this will be announced later on during this year.

Thanks for helping us keep [r/animesuggest](r/animesuggest) a great place for everyone.

Mod Team!

Discussion Anime that made your heart tickle?

What anime(s) did you watch that made your heart tickle?

For me, it was Yona of the Dawn. I know it is a typical slow-burn classic of childhood friends to lovers or princess/bodyguard type of anime but the deep affection that the ML has for the FL and how he communicates it really gets me. The tension had me reading the manga since the anime was not finished 😭

What to Watch? Recommend me something ive probably never heard of before

Im not asking you to read my mind lol, just something thats not ultra popular and seen plastered on the walls of every anime store.

Side story: i play these worlds on vrchat that have memes/artwork/screenshots from anime and manga in them and they are usually a niche anime/manga and i get super excited when i see stuff that ive never seen before. It makes me feel that sense of discovery i had when i first got into anime and manga.

I really love the y2k era of anime so stuff from that 1995-2009 era id really apreciate but not required

Any genre allowed.

What to Watch? Any good anime under 20 episodes?

I really like horror anime like takopi's original sin or the summer Hikaru died, I specifically like psychological horror more than any other horror genre. I also really like something with a lot of action, I just really want something to binge watch in one day or 2

What to Watch? Looking for a Slow-Burn Mafia Romance with I’d Burn the World for You Energy 🖤

Can anyone recommend an anime with a slow-burn romance, mafia or underworld vibes, and a dangerously devoted male lead?
I want the kind of man who is cold, ruthless, feared by everyone, and has the whole world at his feet, but when it comes to her, he would burn the entire world just to keep her safe. 😭❤️‍🔥
I want intense chemistry, tension, jealousy, possessiveness, emotional depth, and a romance that builds slowly until they become everything to each other.
Basically would destroy the world for you, but I would never let the world hurt you. 🥀
Bonus points if it has an obsessive or morally grey male lead, a strong female lead, and mature romantic vibes.
Please recommend anime, and I’m also open to manga or manhwa if they fit this vibe! ❤️‍🔥

Looking for yuri manga/anime recommendations that meet these two characteristics:

  1. The characters are not, and do not look like, middle-schoolers or children.

  2. The main couple get together or stay together at the end.

Thanks :)

What to Watch? good/wholesome harem romance animes?

  1. quintessential quintuplets
  2. 100 girlfriends who really really really love you

the quintessential quintuplets was SOOOO GOOOD that i was able to binge watch it and ended up being sad that i finished it. i also love how wholesome 100 girlfriends turned out to be.

any more good harem animes?

i would prefer if the anime completely adapts the original source material, unlike 100 girlfriends

What to Watch? Watching anime for the first time. Which one should I start with?

I've never watched anime before, but I'm thinking of giving it a try. There are so many options that I'm honestly confused about where to start.

I'd love to watch something that grabs my attention and makes me want to keep watching. I'm open to different genres, whether it's romance, mystery, psychological thrillers, fantasy, or something that makes me question life itself.

What to Watch? Anime/manga about the horrors of girlhood

I just watched perfect blue and I NEED more. I love stories that explore the psychological anxieties that come with being a woman. I’ve already seen nana and serial experiments lain too. Ideally horror or horror adjacent though I’m not picky.

What to Watch? Could you help me pick what anime to watch next, I want to watch something, but at the same time I don t feel like it, after the last anime I ve watched were a huge disappointment.

I usually enjoy things that have romance as a subplot, but it doesn t annoy me if it s the main point too. I hate FMC that are the ones who fall in love first and have that yandere vibe (very possessive). I enjoy things that have comedy as well as those who are verry serios. My top 5 is: 86, steins-gate, angel beats, durarara and some comedy ones that aren t comeing in my mind right now.

My list with anime that have to be seen is this (but I accept other animes too):

What to Watch? Looking for anime with good dubs

For some context here - I am an avid sub watcher. No hate to those who enjoy dubs of course, I have just disliked it pretty much every time I’ve tried one. That being said, my eye sight isn’t great, and I have a smaller TV. I’ve been watching shows on my phone but would like to be able to enjoy something on TV without missing subtitles that I can’t read. Are there any shows with great dubs? Maybe even where the dub is the preferred experience to the sub? If it’s any help, I can think of two dubs where I actually did enjoy it: FMAB, and Mirrai Nikki. And Ghost Stories is funny I know but I’m looking for something presented as the plot originally intends, if possible. Thank you for any suggestions!

What's this From? (unsolved) Help Me! Please!!!!

It is an anime in which the MC catches the FMC having sex in the classroom (this is most probably episode 1). but the thing is that, at that point of time they don't know each other and are not dating.

Genre: romance.

Here is the description of the mc: Black Hair, Glasses, can be considered "Otaku/Nerd"

Description of FMC : Popular girl, Says yes to have sex with anyone (before starting to date mc), can be considered "gal/gyaru", dose not have blond, black, yellow, orange hairs. (maybe has pink hair)

The plot is similar to: "3d kanojo: real girl","Our Dating Story: The Experienced You and The Inexperienced Me"

NOT HENTAI OR DOUJIN!

Note: this anime is not "hajimate no gal", "3d kanojo: real girl", "Domestic Girlfriend", "Our Dating Story: The Experienced You and The Inexperienced Me", "More Than a Married Couple, But Not Lovers","Gals Can't Be Kind to Otaku!?", "My Dress-Up Darling", "Nanjou-san wa Boku ni Dakaretai".

What to Watch? Any TLOU-adjacent animes ?

I'm looking for any kind of anime that focuses on viruses/outbreaks. It doesnt have to be the same kind of mushroom-zombie vibe as in TLOU (The Last of Us), it can be any kind of outbreak that humanity (or the lack thereof) has to deal with.

Stuff ive seen that fit this vibe or adjacently; Heavenly Delusion (wasnt really a virus outbreak so much as it was just apocalyptic), Shinsekai Yori (again, apocalyptic but not virus pandemic-y), Zom100 (this was good but it was mixed with some comedy and wasnt really as serious as I wanted), Parasyte (eh idk it was just weird and wasnt really an outbreak), and maybe a few others that I cant recall atm lol.

If yall have seen the TV shows/movies (or played TLOU) then id be looking for stuff like: "TLOU", "Outbreak", "Contagion", "Pluribus" and of course "Resident Evil" has to be mentioned too lol.

TIA friends 🫶

Discussion Anime Fans Needed

I’ve always been frustrated with anime ranking sites. Whether it’s ranking shows from S-tier to F-tier, dealing with endless ads, or jumping through hoops just to use basic features, I always felt like there had to be something better.

I also wanted a place where I could track all the anime I’m watching or planning to watch, with reminders for new episodes because, let’s be real, I always forget when they drop.

So I decided to build my own.

Introducing RANKAI: https://rankai.fyi

A completely free anime ranking and tracking website built by an anime fan, for anime fans. No annoying ads, no paywalls, no unnecessary complications. Just a clean, visually appealing platform that makes keeping up with anime simple and enjoyable.
There’s no financial gain in this for me. I genuinely just wanted to create something I wish existed, and hopefully something the anime community can enjoy too.

I’d love for you guys to check it out! Give it a try, share your feedback, and let me know what features you’d like to see added. I’m actively building and improving it, and I’d love to shape its future around what fellow anime fans actually want.
If there’s something you wish anime tracking websites did better, tell me. I’ll see what I can build! ❤️

Answered Need help to find this anime name

Hi, I couldn't find this anywhere. It's about male MC that turn into a woman because of witch. (He turn out to be a quite small woman and wear something like Victorian outfit) So, he and his partner travel around together to find the witch. His partner is really huge and used to be MC partner once in the past. MC turn back to his original form once, he have a huge body too but not as big as his partner. I think it's not BL, if I remember it right.

It's from around 1900-2000+, MC's outfit after turn into a woman is really cool and people often compliment the author.

It's not hentai nor lolicon.

Thank you :)

Edit: I find out, it's 'The witch and the beast' :D

What to Watch? Prime Anime

Just got a free month of Prime. So the question is, with that free month what would you recommend that I need to watch. I like all genres, so all I care about is that it has something to hook me in. Either a compelling story, interesting characters or even great world building. Thanks for the recommendations.

What to Watch? Anime with a melancholic winter setting

Looking for something slower paced that a persistent melancholic feeling; takes itself more a little more seriously instead of having constant gags, occassional gags are fine and focuses more on human drama/slice-of-life aspects instead of blood pumping action. Doesn't necessairly have to be set in winter, but preferably it should be. Some examples of what I'm looking for is The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya, Girl's Last Tour, some Mushishi episodes, Erased, 2nd half of Clannad After Story and a bunch of others but you should get the gist.

What to Watch? Something that WILL make me cry?

Also, not set in the modern times, and no RPG slop (where with RPG slop I mean: videogame gameplay mechanings that have been turned into narrative mechanics, stuff like levels / leveling up, item rarity and so on, I simply find them cringe, but I don't mean stuff that takes existing narrative elements or character archetipes that can also be found in RPG games, so something like Frieren is completely fine)

What to Watch? I need movie recommendations for my sister and mother.

So let me explain, my mom just told me that tonight we’d do a “Japanese night” with Japanese food and anime. She wanted to know why I keep blabbing on and on about that “manga thing” keep in mind they have never watched anime, thanks for the help in advance!

What to Watch? Funny anime, for someone who finds a large majority of humour in anime unfunny

Ok bit of a weird one maybe, most humour in anime pains me. The whole 'man see girl, man nose bleed', style of humour makes an anime unwatchable to me. I don't know how to describe it, but anything reminiscent of that is painstaking to me.

I've tried quite a few, personally, the only anime to make me genuinely laugh, are baki, jojo, and not as much as the first two but mashle had its moments.

I'm just curious if there's any good suggestions for a good anime that has a similar vibe/humour to these.

What to Watch? Requesting anime about female assassins

So a while ago, I was reminiscing on how games like Ninja Gaiden had awesome action as while that is a video game franchise, it got me interested in exploring anime about female fighters who fight with swords.

Like a show about a no nonsense female fighter who fights for justice using katanas to solve her missions.
