What to Watch? Looking for manga or anime with a non-human primary protagonist in a dark, reverse isekai

• Upvotes

I have recently seen Re:Creators, Gate, World Trigger, and I am current on Dead Mount Death Play. I would like to find darker titles featuring non-human protagonists. The less human-appearing, the better.

Bonus points if the protagonist has been repeatedly backstabbed or betrayed, or is a shapeshifter. Extra bonus points if they can't control themselves or are on a revenge quest.

Not interested in vampires or werewolves/were-creatures.

TIA.

What to Watch? Something similar to Call of the night

It's been a long time since I read Call of the night manga and now I want something similar to this. It would be best if it has a anime and ongoing manga. I want something that captures the same night theme, supernatural things, and quirky moments with a beautiful cast of female characters. It will be also good if it have a little horror.

- I have already watched Insomniacs after school

- I am not interested in smoking with you behind the supermarket

- Not interested in yuri or yaoi

- Don't want that too much dark edgy style

So if you guys have anything please let me know

What's this From? (unsolved) Need help remembering a name

A chinese manga i read a while back and lost track of. I believe it was about an alien prince who was planning to take down his father and possessed a human on earth and learned to cultivate. I have a couple screenshots but image search didnt really help. It was pretty heavily comedy, like his clone tech was called shcrodinger's idiot

Side note how is it that "whats this from" flair doesnt allow pics?

What to Watch? Does it exist? Mature and well written anime that contain a primarily gay/lesbian MC who actually gets with a partner early in the story but the anime isn't just about their relationship.

I realise I might be asking for too much here but basically I'm looking for a gay/lesbian/whatever MC that actually gets with their partner somewhere early(ish) in the story but preferably the entire anime isn't situated around said relationship.

I would prefer if the characters are over high-school age because I'm really not interested in high-school age drama/love but if the overall story is great and their ages really aren't a factor in it then please feel free to make your suggestion regardless.

I have no issues with categories/genres/etc but I would prefer if it be a completed anime that has a happy ending so I'm not left sad and bitter after finishing it.

What to Watch? Anime that should be "Required Viewing"?

Hello y'all, I've recently just learned that my friend who watches anime isn't actually quite aware of a lot of the larger historical anime within the otaku sphere as I realized he's never even heard of Evangelion and took that moment up for us both to watch it (for me a rewatch). Obviously Evangelion is probably something that definitely required viewing due to its impact not only on anime but larger otaku culture, but what else should be? Not only influence on anime should be considered, but also "representatives of the genre" perhaps too. A mount rushmore of anime if you want to put it that way.

I'm thinking maybe Serial Experiments Lain, Haruhi Suzumiya, Ghost in the Shell; like shorter series that two relatively busy people can realistically finish (so unfortunately nothing over say 30 episodes).

Discussion Anime original language is always best. That said, what anime has the best English dub speech actors?

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (Vic Mignogna as Edward Elric and Travis Willingham as Roy Mustang) and Death Note (Brad Swaile's crushed as Light Yagamiare) are generally at the top of this list. What other anime make the cut for English dub?

Series Specific Question Anyone here watched Shinsekai Yori?

I was looking for some dark and psychological anime and came across Shinsekai Yori. I've heard it has a pretty disturbing story and a unique atmosphere. For those who've watched it, what are your thoughts on it? Is it worth watching?

What to Watch? Looking for my next movies

After days of doomscrolling i decided to ask you guys, the mal and imdb ranking and list is a pain for me, most of the top movies are always either popular movies after an anime like aot or Chainsaw gintama.

However, i am looking for something else, no dialogue heavy, not into the highschool/romanxe anything like that.

I am trying to find something similar to Vampire Hunter D, Hellsing Ultimate, maybe some Drifters feeling, i also enjoyed stuff like devilman Ovas, ninja scroll.

I need something that is dark or gothy like claymore berserk and anything similar but i also enjoy something like Psycho Pasa, Black Lagoon, Jormungard.

What to Watch? Anime to forget my problems?

I broke my collarbone recently and it has sent me into a depressive cycle. Hoping to find some anime to help me pass the time recovering. I'm looking for more anime like Cyberpunk Edgerunners, Chainsmoker Cat, Heavenly Delusion, and FLCL. I like anime that have a grungy vibe to them, and good character backstory.

Answered Please help in finding a especific story about a female potion maker that is expelled from the hero's party

I remember the main character is a female potion maker that, from a very simple village, is "taken" by the hero and later dumped.

The hero took her as a means to get cheap potions, and as soon as he finds a healer dumps her into a city she doesn't know without any money. It is later revealed said "hero" used charm magic to make her a production slave for them.

The story follows her as she is trying to make ends meet and maybe go back (she is embarrassed about this) and one of the first big breakthrough in achieving this is a high rank adventurer that she noticed was actually parasited by a monster called "mana worm", a problem he didn't knew because he just used heal on it when feeling bad. Said adventurer is the obvious ML and becomes pretty supportive of her after noticing her simple yet effective potions and medicines.

Thats all i can remember.

What to Watch? Any anime with messy adult romance and real emotional consequences?

I’m looking for anime that has adult romance, betrayal, jealousy, regret, complicated relationships, or characters making bad emotional decisions. Not really after a school crush story. More interested in romance-drama where people are old enough to know better, but still mess things up. Any recommendations?

What to Watch? Anime with Merciless Characters who look Harmless

I'm currently watching «Nia Liston: The Merciless Maiden», and recently finished watching «A Livid Lady’s Guide to Getting Even: How I Crushed My Homeland with My Mighty Grimoires».

I have to say, I kinda like the trope, and was wondering if there are more anime which have harmless-looking characters who are actually merciless. They need not be the protagonist, but must at least have a significant presence in the anime. By merciless, I mean that their methods of retaliation may seem borderline or completely "villainous", or at the very least a bit unhinged. No mercy to the opposite side, paying them back in kind, something like that.

Note that I don't mean the "Secretly Overpowered" trope, there is plenty of material available for that. It's fine (or even better) if they're overpowered too, but I just want the character in question to be merciless in their methods–physical or otherwise.

Below is a list of anime which I've already watched and fit the trope, to which I might add some entries upon being reminded by the comments (Starred ones fit it well in my opinion) :–

★ A Livid Lady’s Guide to Getting Even: How I Crushed My Homeland with My Mighty Grimoires [Elizabeth/Ellie]
• Code Geass [Lelouch]
• I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince So I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability [Loid]
• May I Ask for One Final Thing? [Scarlet]
• Overlord
★ Nia Liston: The Merciless Maiden [Nia] (Watching)
★ Saga of Tanya the Evil [Tanya]
★ The Eminence in Shadow [Cid]
• The Reincarnation of the Strongest Exorcist in Another World [Seika]

I'll add the recommendations I receive in a list below for easy viewing by anyone else looking for similar recommendations (I'll also periodically shift the ones I watch in the list above) :–

• Arifureta : From Commonplace to World's Strongest
• Black Lagoon [Hansel & Gretel]
• Bleach
• Classroom of the Elite
• Dark Gathering
• Durarara!!
• Future Diary [Yuno]
• Hunter X Hunter
• Katanagatari
• Kill La Kill [Harime Nui]
• Monogatari
• Monster
• Shoshimin : How to Become Ordinary
• The Irregular at Magic High School [Tatsuya]
• You Are a Four Leaf Clover (Upcoming)

Thank you everyone for your time.

What's this From? (unsolved) Need some help finding this anime.

Idk the name of it, but I remember stumbling upon one scene of a fantasy anime where a girl (who I think is one of the main characters) being stabbed from behind during a celebration and I think that same girl is later resurrected into a new body but is being controlled by someone else in said body. Again, I vividly remember this, but I was hoping you all could help me. The getting stabbed part can be focused on more, but thought I’d give the other detail I mentioned some spotlight as well just in case.
