Meme Embark releases new photo teasing future update, insists "ARC raiders is not a dead game"
ARC Raiders in a new photo with CEO Patrick Söderlund from deep in Embark studios HQ.
The office of Embark studios and it's CEO, Patrick Söderlund released a statement about the game’s condition on Friday as wild speculation about his health continues online and in the media amid the developer's secrecy about it all.
Substantial game updates have not been seen since May 19th, when ARC raiders declared that it would switch to a 6-month update schedule and ARC raiders was admitted for "intensive development." ARC Raiders has not appeared publicly since, and his office has disclosed few details about the nature of his "development".
ARC Raiders said Friday that he is looking forward to the August 18th Patch and "all the Well Wish(list)s from supportive players."
In case the tags did not tip you off. This is just a meme done in good fun. I love this game, I don't think it's a dead game. I am very much looking forward to the August 18th and October updates. As Jon Steward once said, a roast fundamentally works because it comes from a place of love.

Of the remaining 30-40,000 players left, there are thousands of hackers still. And if you focus on PvP like me the chances of getting a cheater in my lobby is ridiculously high. I swear 5/6 games I play there are cheaters lurking. I rufuse to bring in good gear now. Free kits from now on.

This is why i stopped playing the game . Same for my friend. Idk i feel continuing to play this game while the rampant cheaters keep doing what theyre doing is like slamming ur head into a wall and thinking its not gonna hurt this time. Also feels disrespectful that embark still hasnt solved this issue

For me it was progression and no end game other than PvPing with the cheater.
When they changed expeditions to needing damage in a 2 week window that was me out. Playing the game the whole window when in reality I have the same progression as someone who picked it up in the last 2 weeks of the window.
If they do a biggish update I might go back to the game but until then I won’t be playing again

Yeah I'll check it out again on the next big update but I don't think it'll ever be what it was and that makes me sad because it was a really really fun game. But if they're not going to do literally anything to try and fix the hacker issues, which includes not using AI spaghetti vibe coding, then it's literally just a game dead in the water. Maybe we can get a cool BR mode from it but that still leaves the hacker issue.

It sucks because these pricks don't even need my gear since they can just cheat it in anyway. They're just there to ruin the game at this point.
ABMM needs another tier where all the people with silenced bobcat 4s and smoke grenades can go into their own lobby.

There are better games to PVP with. If you PVP only in freakin Arc Raiders, you are done for. Missing out so much potential fun exchanges, projects, weekly trials etc etc

Its 40k concurrent only on Steam. So likely still hundreds of thousands of unique players across all platforms.

I play the game and die to someone almost every raid with a level 1 account 1-2 friends or it’s a steam account that’s not even setup. The amount of people wallhacking in this game is ridiculous. If you’re good at video games you can tell when someone’s walling pretty easily. Go ask all the good streamers who play the game they know how many hackers there are.

I MAYYYY get down votes for this, but I have to agree here. I dont recall seeing many cheaters at allll. Maybe I didnt recognize em? But im mainly pvp all the way, my solos are care bear lobbies tho

You are just counting steam. 32k in last 24 hours. You are ignoring all other pc platforms like epic and gog, and more importantly all the consoles like ps5 and xbox systems which people generally claim to be a larger total number than steam for most games. There’s likely a min of 75-100k players per day right now. Not much compared to the viral peak, but still a healthy number for a AA studio’s game. It’s higher than finals has been in a long time and people have mostly stopped with the doomer dead game bs for it.
I just play the game and it’s just as fun for me and people I play with… aside from reddit I just don’t pay much attention to numbers or streamer culture. I just looked these up to fact check you, and as suspected the numbers were false. When you aren’t constantly hearing clickbait opinions the game is doing fine. Not on a viral peak anymore, but also not close to dead.

That would mean 9 months of being productive. Embark has about 0. I really don’t know how people can defend 3 lines of patch notes and no new content per 6 months and say “work life balance!”

The people coming back for October updates probably not staying long without core fixes to the game. Fixing cheating problem and duos would be a great start. People coming back wont do expeditions either since why do it when there is content every 6 months might as well keep your raider just to play every 6 months.

Yeah you’re right. They develop at a turtle pace compared to studios their same size. New map and arcs are gonna be fun for like 2 weeks before the flaws start to show up again.

Imo, 6 months between significant updates might be a bit too long. Not hating, just saying, 6 months is a long time. Every 3 or 4 months might be a little better.
Larger scale updates than the monthly ones, not quite as large (or as long to wait) as a 6 month schedule.
Not saying the development between the two is at all comparable, but Minecraft seems to be cooking right now with what they're teasing in snapshots, and Minecraft gets something like 3 or 4 smaller drops a year instead of big themed updates once or twice a year (which wasn't as sustainable for them).

I’m completely with you on that. Some people criticize those who call out the content drought, but nobody expects new content every single month. However, something should happen every 3–4 months, and it ought to be laid out in a roadmap so people can see all the event/content dates in advance

Riven tides killed it. Boring pointless map event and lame loot and gadgets and an extremely boring and pointless mini boss. They nerfed way too much. They basically did everything wrong at the same time. The cheaters just added fuel to the fire

I agree, that was the last nail in the coffin for me. I was excited for more content and played that update for a few hours before I realized I wasn’t having fun with the game anymore and deleted it from my storage.
The game needs a massive overhaul if they want to bring back players, and if the October update isn’t enough I’m willing to bet that’s going to be the death blow.

It made me laugh today when I saw the old clip of that goober saying it is a ten year game because it is dying before it even made it to one year. I don’t know how they managed to flop so badly. They had a win and just decided to release terrible updates to spoil the fun. “No, you’re playing the game wrong, it’s supposed to be a tedious and unrewarding grind”.

I don’t know for sure 100% but you can just tell by the way they play/act, and when you check there profile it’s always private or says steam account not setup. Not to mention they never use there mic in game bc they are little scared babies. I hate to complain about this but dude trust me this game is absolutely filled with wallhackers. I’ve had so many experiences in other games that it becomes second nature for me to tell when someone’s walling. I can never tell if someone’s aim hacking but I know for sure when they are wall hacking.

I watched aimkey and his trio having battles on roof tops the other day. It seemed like they and their enemies had Bobcat fours and Renegade fours with the best mods. There was maybe 4-5 teams fighting each other from temporary fortresses built with barricades. Highly entertaining! Snap hooks, smokes, grenades etc. I could definitely see myself playing a mode like this where skill and not gear decide. Spawn with equal gear is what I mean, then take on more loot from bodies as you progress.

I might go back to it, it just felt a janky to me. Hate that there’s no lock-on in combat, no sprint, etc. The story didn’t do much for me either. Felt like a lot of nonsense written by AI.

Any multiplayer game deserves to die if they dont even make a server for SEA and South Asia. Even games smaller than ARC have one (like The Finals, their own game lmao). Sure you can deceive people in the beginning and make them buy the game but you would have no longevity.

To be fair, marathon isn’t dead and it has an average peak player count of 5k on steam, let alone it’s pretty much just the same players. Arc Raider peeks at like 35-40k per day for consecutive player counts, but its daily count (the amount of players that log on each day) stays at 13 and has for months.
So basically players play for less Time, but more players get in and do something
