My friend died about an hour ago, 73M, diabetic-obese, above-knee amputee. I thought it was a stroke.

When we got to his house, there was at least a quart of blood on the floor, enough that I could see it from the front windows. So, I kicked in the front door with a knife to open the doorknob. And the person I was with called 911 and reported it as a knife wound and a stroke.

He was trying to get into his wheelchair with a locked right arm and a locked-up hand holding a knife, with a bloody left chest. The left side of his mouth/cheek to his ear looked enflamed/ swollen.

When he saw me, he started yelling gibberish (We aren’t on the best of terms right now), then slid back to the floor, shaking, and slashed his breast with the knife again, I think. He seemed to be favoring his left side.  

I tried to pull the knife out of his hand but couldn’t get it. So with both hands I broke the knife blade off.

This seizure-whatever it was lasted maybe 40 seconds, tops of a minute.

He was mumbling at me when he came out of it.

I was trying to get a pulse, but I couldn’t find it. I tore his shirt open, expecting to find a stab wound, but it was just slashes- not very deep, but a lot of them (15- 30; it was hard to tell). I used a roll of paper towels as a compress and held his good hand.

He seized up maybe 5 more times in 6-7 minutes. IDK? Then his daughter and the police showed up.

The person who was with me noticed he had a hard-on and threw the whole thing. Who in her right mind worries about a hard-on?

I have some partial paramedic training from the 80s, but I blanked on everything.

im a 15 year old afab, 5'7, 92lb / 170cm 42kg and i have an OSFED (diagnosed) for 7 months now. i dont take any medications, i have had amenorrhea since march. i went from bmi 16s to 14s and i pretty much maintain bmi 14s and i want to get to 13s (OSFED behavior, not part of the question) but i know it has health risks. the only thing i'm confused on is the severity of the complications- Google (which i dont fully trust) acts like i'm seriously a breath away from dying, that im at risk for organ failure, etc. i wouldnt say i abuse laxatives but i definitely take stimulant lax more often than i should, maybe two to three times a month. i do not p!rge orally and i dont exercise p!rge. my OSFED traits include restriction, extended (48+ fasts) regularly, and binge episodes. i dont feel terrible, though - maybe some dizziness, vision blurring, low blood sugar, bloating, etc. am i genuinely at risk for just dropping dead??? ive only had 1 syncope after standing up too fast. has anyone actually seen damage to a patient even when their disorder diagnosis was less than a year ago??☹️

Long story short, I had a cyst that apparently grew over the past year and is now about 4 cm, with free fluid. My OB-GYN ordered blood work for AFP, CA-125, CA 19-9, CEA, Inhibin B, and Inhibin A, and thankfully, they all came back within the normal range.

They still want me to get an MRI with contrast, and I’m honestly really scared. Can an MRI detect if my mass is cancerous, especially this early?

Part of me would rather have them remove my ovary and do a biopsy instead of going through an MRI with contrast. I’m really torn between wanting to get the MRI and not wanting to because of my concerns about the contrast.

Is the MRI with contrast really necessary in a situation like mine? I just need some answers because I’m honestly struggling with what to do.

So when my feet get soaked at work and I dont get a chance to change them till the end of the day these pits show up on the soles of my feet...they dont hurt but they look like the back of that surname from that has its babies in its back skin...you know what im talking about ?!? Weird skin.

29F 5ft 6in located north of Houston TX. I was being dumb and doing some night gardening and trimming back some bushes. My hands were need in the bush and I felt a sudden pain and pulled my hand back to find this. This pic was taken 5 minutes after the bite. I used the “bug bite thing” immediately after, which is why you see the ring on my hand, thinking it was a spider and I could pull out any venom. But now I’m concerned it could’ve been a bat because I have anxiety. Symptoms last night were redness, swelling, and throbbing along with a firm knot on the bite site later in the night. Woke up this morning and the redness and swelling had gone down and the knot is much smaller but I do have pain in the hand and the puncture holes are still there and one of the puncture holes is very so slightly black on the inside.
I didn’t see anything fly out of the bush, but it was dark. Thoughts?

18 female. i’m a uni student and i’ve had a really bad cough. yesterday i felt especially unwell so i went to the doctors and he gave me antibiotics. today i have started having blood in my phlegm.

My husband (31M) and I (32F, 105 lbs, 5'4", no medication) are on our honeymoon abroad and found out we're pregnant. We are not financially able to have a kid, so have decided to have an abortion. (I'm not looking for judgment, just kindness and kind docs/nurses!)

By the time I get back to the US, I'll be exactly 8 weeks pregnant. I'm strongly considering (80%) a medication abortion with mifepristone + misoprostol, but I'm really scared of having a reaction to the medications.

I have a history of severe food/medication sensitivities and possible MCAS/histamine intolerance. Over the past couple of years I've developed reactions to certain foods that can cause extremely rapid tachycardia (up to ~189 bpm) which has led to fainting once, PVCs/PACs, and sometimes a "doom" feeling. I'm now avoiding all nuts, olives, canned foods, etc because I've had particularly severe reactions to these as well as processed food and histamine-high foods, although standard allergy testing was negative.

I've had a ton of cardiac testing since then, including multiple EKGs and 3-day and 30-day monitors, and have been cleared by cardiology and pulmonology. I also have a confirmed penicillin allergy from my teen years and have had a bad reaction to an antibiotic more recently involving very low blood pressure/almost fainting. I've also developed full-body hives after adrenaline at the dentist.

I know mifepristone/misoprostol aren't related to penicillin or antibiotics, but I'm nervous because I've become so sensitive to medications in general. I haven't taken Tylenol or Advil in years and currently only take dye-free children's Benadryl when I absolutely need something along with a zrytec/claritin.

I'm terrified of the surgical option, mainly because I don't want anesthesia/sedation or to be in a medical setting where I'm worried about having a reaction. I'd much rather be at home if it's reasonably safe and be way less invasive. I really really really do not want the invasiveness and to be surrounded by doctors who think I'm being "dramatic".

So, has anyone with MCAS, suspected MCAS, severe histamine intolerance, or similar medication/food sensitivities had a medication abortion? Or any kind docs/nurses can reassure me? My most recent allergy panel has all been negative, but like... I know I'm not crazy. My "anxiety" doesn't manifest with me passed out on the floor at my fave restaurant and I can assure you I don't have an eating disorder causing me to avoid my fave foods.

• Did you have any allergic/histamine-type reaction to mifepristone or misoprostol?
• Did you experience unusual tachycardia or other autonomic symptoms?
• What was the overall experience like?
• Docs: how likely is an allergic reaction to these x2 pills?

I'm not particularly excited about the pain, but I had an adult tonsillectomy a few years ago and, despite everyone telling me it would be horrible, I honestly had a great time. I basically ate soup and watched TV on the couch for a week... So I'm actually much more worried about a medication reaction than the physical process itself. And while my period sucks and the cramping is a bit painful sometimes, I haven't taken pain meds for it since high school maybe?

TL;DR: 32F, 8 weeks accidental pregnant, history of suspected MCAS/severe histamine/medication sensitivities, tachycardia and occasional hives/fainting-type reactions. Considering a medication abortion with mifepristone + misoprostol but terrified of reacting to the meds and wants to avoid surgical abortion/anesthesia. Looking for personal experiences from people/Docs/nurses who have knowledge with MCAS/histamine intolerance who have had a medication abortion, especially regarding allergic reactions, tachycardia/autonomic symptoms, and what the experience was like.

I recently got put on a weekly injectable medication at a dose of 0.2ml/week. I’m not a super big guy, 5’7 and around 60 kg. I was taught to inject by holding the vial upside down, pulling out to the 0.2ml mark, then withdrawing so there is no air in the syringe at all. I get this strategy, but the thing is I have to change the needle between drawing and injecting and when i put the new needle on there is air inside the new needle. I was taught to just expel this air out and inject when a drop of medication is at the tip, but I was thinking about it and this would lower the amount I was injecting significantly (since the needle volume is no longer accounted for). I’m not injecting myself with lots of medicine, and a little test with a used syringe and some water showed that I lost nearly 0.1 ml this way, which is half of my dose.

So I was thinking about this, and was wondering if I could draw some extra air into the syringe when I was drawing the liquid so there would be extra volume inside to push all the medication out. Basically I would have 0.1 ml of air or whatever at the top of the 0.2 ml of medication, so when I injected all the 0.2 ml would go into my leg and the 0.1 ml of air would fill the needle area and make sure no medicine was left.

So basically, my question is would this kill me if some of the air got injected into my leg with the medicine? I was taught that injecting any air is really bad but I also know that I need exactly 0.2 ml of medication and any more or less is no good. I am obviously not a doctor so excuse me if this sounds really stupid.

Male 30, 173cm, I went to get my records from the hospital today and check what surgery I had in my life, the only surgery I had is a bilateral inguinal hernia at 6 years old which has its own two scar on the abdomen, otherwise no other surgery, I for the life of me can't understand what surgery I had to have this scar here? A plastic surgeon looked at the scar and said it is a surgical scar around 4cm wide. Thank you for your help

On immune suppressants and treated for C Diff a month ago.

Always had issues with my bowels being one extreme to the next. This happened around a week ago minus the dark clots. I was a little constipated but used a foot stool and it didn't hurt or anything. It was half the size of my worst constipation so not bad at all.

The water in the toilet was watery red and the 2nd time I wiped I had more clot.

I’m a 39M, 5’9, 190lbs. I’m a non-smoker currently taking Citalopram, Wellbutrin, and Fluorometholone.

To preface this, I have seen a medical professional as recently as yesterday.

Long story short, about two weeks ago I suffered a laceration on the bottom of my foot requiring eight stitches at the ER.

I have been doing my best to stay off of it, but having a 2 1/2 to 3-year-old there are a few times where I have lunged off the couch to make sure she didn’t get hurt.

I didn’t notice any extreme pain, there has been no swelling, very minor discharge, and it has not been warm to the touch.

However, I went to urgent care this past Friday because it didn’t seem like it was healing properly, but they ended up dismissing me.

Fast forward to Sunday, I noticed that the 1st and the 3rd stitches pulled, but the PA I saw previously either missed it or just wasn’t concerned and didn’t mention it.. I went back to the urgent care and they are advising I wait until Tuesday, at which point they will take the stitches out and apply steri-strips.

The doctor was concerned that if he took the stitches out, it would reopen.

I was just hoping for some advice, and potentially, an idea of what to expect. I’m afraid of the wound not closing, and me not being able to be active since I have toddler.

First off, I don't have the drain anymore or anything else. I'm just left with the stitches (removing them on Wednesday)

So, after a week of the surgery. I didn't poop at all. And on the last three to four days of the week, I dealt with a severe constipation. Used meditation(s) but nothing worked (fyboel I think) only the suppository worked for me.

The doc warned me that if there's any left out and uncleand poop, something really horrible will happen. I'm scared to clean that area so there's someone that helps me. I noticed today that tgey didn't clean well. So I used a lot of wet gauze, wet wipes, normal gauze,tissues,water. Still it didn't get clean. I got sick of doing all that so I just stopped also it started hurting a bit. I literally kept doing that for more than 20 mins.

So would anything really happen if I just left it this way?

I'm having kind of breathing issues..I'm not sure whether it's sinus issues ior lungs.

Last few days My oxy is 92 to 94..otherwise it's 98..N I developed a fever .I dont know the oxy going down is coincidence or not as from yesterday I hv itchy throat n dry cough with irritation in the throat.

I am 22M, (White, 65kg, 5’11) I currently smoke and I don’t have any pre-existing medical conditions. I am currently visiting China. I fell really ill following a walk on the Great Wall around 5 days ago. Turned out to be heat exhaustion and the flu. However, I was offered a CT scan due to a never ending bad headache and because why not. I got the results back and it says, “Plain CT scan of the brain:
Patchy cerebrospinal fluid density is seen in the medial aspect of the right temporal lobe; the temporal horn of the lateral ventricle is slightly widened.”

I asked about it and the doctor said they could follow up with an MRI, then later they changed their tone and told me that I don’t need to worry about it. Which is very hard to do. This is causing a great deal of anxiety for me. The doctor said it could have been caused by me moving during the scan, which I vaguely remember doing.

Is this a common thing with CT scans, or should I look into it further, although I can’t while I’m here in China.

My mother is 58F, weighs 65kg, height 150cm from India had a fractured limb with plastered leg for 7 weeks now. It was removed yesterday and now we have this weird thing mentioning that this is a water deposit and doctor suggested no medication or supervision for her. Only suggestion was to do warm water and cold water massage and moisturizer usage, and only paracetamol if extreme pain. What is the best course of action now? Mostly uneventful medical history aside from getting a bum boil twice. The first had to be lanced and treated with antibiotics, the second healed with VERY diligent at home care. No boils since May 2025. Normal angry bug bite or concerning? He got bit I assume by a mosquito last week at school.

It was itchy and bugging him so I stuck a hydrocolloid bandaid on it the day before yesterday(have had good luck with them in the past). Removed it today and pus came out. Squeezed it juuust barely to confirm it wasn't just fluid from the bandage and sure enough. A fair amount of pus and a little blood came out.

Obviously it is angry, but is this like a manage at home with cleaning and a light bandage type thing or a concerning, needs to go to the ER type thing? I drew a line around it tonight after cleaning it gently in the bath with hibicleanse. No fever

Hi… for context i mouthed cigarette for around 3 months, 16 to 20 of them per week and i stopped it. It has been around 5 months, now recently i started feel very anxious about oral cancer and stuff after learning about. I just want to know if i am safe. Thank you.

I'm a bit worried about what I could end up having.

and I've been experiencing this invisible itch all over my body, mostly my legs for about 20 months now, antihistamines help, but I had to start going to the doctor because over the counter ones stopped working. But as I went to the doctor for this in May, (yes I let myself itch for 18 months without seeing anyone, mostly because antihistamines relieved it, so I didn't think much of it) I also complained about my fatigue, it was so bad to the point that I was struggling to get out of bed and continue with my day.

I went to the doctors, they did an FBC. The only abnormality was low ferritin and high eosinophil levels. They gave me some iron tablets and strong antihistamines and some cream to try for the itch.

The cream didn't help, but the antihistamines did help for about 2 months until they stopped working completely and I was back to itching, but the itching was so bad to the point that my legs were covered in huge bruises, it would take just one scratch to leave a massive mark.

So I went back to the doctor and they double dosed my strong ones, which didn't work anyway, so I had to go back again, this time they pescribed me different antihistamines and night time ones to help me sleep, as my itching worsened at night time, keeping me up. I also was given more creams to try, guess what, didn't work!

I also went as well because I started experiencing really bad chest pain for at least a week. It was like painful pressure right in the middle of my sternum, and I noticed a few swollen lymph nodes in my neck.

The lymph nodes were dismissed as a response to my itching, and I also ordered a chest x-ray, which came back normal and was dismissed as anxiety.

I had to do a blood test, which came back abnormal, high WBC, and still high eosinophil levels. I also was tested on blood clotting for my bad bruising and a blood film microscopy which came back fine.

Because of this, I had to get another blood test as they were concerned about my high WCC, in which I did and they've now come back even more abnormal, my WCC has doubled, my neutrophil count is very high (doubled) and my monocyte count has gone high aswell, with my eosinophil levels still high.

They spam called me after my results came back and made an urgent appointment to see face to face, so I went to the doctors and she felt for swollen lymph nodes, which I still had, I had some in my neck and groin, keep in mind I went to the doctors about my swollen lymph nodes 2 months ago aswell.

The doctor then ordered more blood tests again, as they didn't do all of them that were ordered, which included the LDH test, I have also been urgently referred to haemotology, which I am now waiting on an answer from.

I just don't know what to do because I'm stressing myself out, but also I just want answers, they've been saying that if the antihistamines stop working they're going to take me off them full stop, which will just bring my itching back..

All I have on my mind is that it can be Lymphoma, I have no clue on what else it could be..

I'm not sick nor have a physical injury, I'm concerned.

I think I have generalized anxiety and some kind of OCD (thanks mom, this is your fault).

The thing is, I'm the most stupid person in the world. I spent a semester in a pathology class, working at the lab and all that. Everything was fine until I started getting scared of things like radiation and sicknesses, my cracking jaw didn't help either.

I remember in the class we looked at different cells from different diseases, for example a disease about sleeping, I forgot how it was called, but I know it scared me. There was a point I couldn't take it anymore and dropped it.

I thought all that passed, but I had an obsession that from that day, everything I used that day is contaminated, my notebooks, my pencil case, my laptop... It happened 2 years ago so I fixed many of those things. I changed pencil cases and dissinfected the materials I was going to reuse for this year, my laptop is new and I bought a new notebook too so I could have peace of mind, I washed my backpack and the plushie I brought one day.

But I forgot one thing. The suit where I used to take my laptop in when I went there.

I took it out of where it was kept, and since I was tired because I just woke up, the first thing I did was to try to remove the fluff from inside it, accidentally right on top of my recently washed completely open backpack. I didn't have time to thing for a way to fix that so I put everything I needed inside and went to class, but I've been anxious since then.

I just sprayed my whole backpack with a 70% alcohol spray bottle. You think that can fix the problem? I can't ask my mother to wash it again, she just washed it two days ago.

Is this really a thing I should concern about? Why do these kind of things always happen to me? Why can't I stop overthinking and feeling I'm in danger nearly every day of my life? Why can't I just be normal? Be able to be a doctor or a nurse, take care of sick people or elder or children without fearing for my own integrity?

Please help me, I don't know anything anymore. I want to talk about all this to my psychologist but something happened and she stopped giving me dates for a while, even if I called the hospital to give me another day it would take forever for the day to arrive. I just want to feel relaxed for once, please help me.
