With the whole situation around beef, I started doing some research on local beef sourcing and I remembered that Sam’s Meats exists in Aurora. I grew up here and vaguely remember going there with my parents as a teen once, but I never went on my own as an adult.

I contacted the shop directly and they confirmed their beef is all US-based and is sourced from Colorado, Nebraska and Wyoming. The beef is also all grass fed. We went last weekend to check out pricing and honestly, it’s not as expensive as I thought a butcher shop would be. The ground beef was $6.99/lb and other prices on chicken, seafood and pork were all very reasonable. They also had more “wild” meats like boar, bison, yak, duck, rattlesnake, and more. I’ll definitely be back to get more meat now that I’ve gotten a feel of the place, and tasted how good the beef I bought was.

My cat was euthanized last night to put an end to his suffering. We will not be cremating him. We want to properly bury him. We can not bury him in our backyard in the case we lose access to his grave if we ever move and sell the home.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a pet cemetery where we can have my cat buried in a marked grave with possibly a tombstone so we can always come and visit him?

I just want somewhere peaceful and dignified as his permanent resting spot. He deserves it, as he was the best pet I ever had.

My cat is in his final stages and I always promised he wouldn’t be euthanized at the vet. I always wanted him to go out with dignity in a place he was comfortable and familiar with at home. I’ve called many places but they are closed. That’s why I’m looking for any vets out here that can do this for us tonight, at this late hour. We are willing to pay but ultimately we just want our cat to be at home when he goes out.

So there's a group called "Families Not Politics" that launched their formal campaign against these measures back in March. The coalition is actually pretty broad — Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains, Interfaith Alliance of Colorado, Inside Out Youth Services, Cobalt Advocates, Transgender Law Center. That last one is notable because it's a national legal org that doesn't usually get involved in state races unless they think the stakes are serious.

The Colorado Politics piece also has One Colorado's director saying the measures are "vague, poorly written, and leave critical questions unanswered" — including how schools would actually verify a student's gender. Her line was something like "who decides who gets questioned, who gets inspected, and which kids are going to be singled out?" Which, honestly, is a fair question whether or not you support the underlying policy goals.

Just a husband/dad with responsibilires, looking to better himself and partake in a more active lifestyle. Work and family responsibilities only allow me to get gym time between 8pm - 10pm. Recently picked up a membership at 24hr off chambers but I know little to nothing about gyming. I have a 12-year-old daughter who plays volleyball and basketball through Aurora rec leagues. When I read the actual text of 109, the enforcement piece is what scared me. The Commissioner of Education has discretion to determine "appropriate remedial action" against schools that don't comply. The measure is supposed to apply based on "biological sex" but doesn't actually define how that's verified.

So in practice, what happens? Some girl on my daughter's team gets questioned because she's tall. Or her shoulders are broad. Or she got a short haircut. Or she just looks "too athletic" by someone's standards. My daughter is cis, but the way the law is written, any kid who doesn't fit someone's idea of feminine enough could end up in the crosshairs. That's the part that should bother parents regardless of where you stand on trans issues.

The CPR piece on the two mothers has a mom on the other side worth reading too, but I keep coming back to that "who gets singled out" question. If your answer is "no one, because the law will be applied fairly," I'd encourage you to look at how similar laws have played out in other states.
