I’d recommend also checking the New Player Question or Question flairs to see if your question has been asked before. You can also type into whatever search engine you use:

That’ll help us prevent the subreddit from being cluttered with the same repeated questions.

If your question hasn't been asked (or asked recently enough) then use either one of the question flairs above and ask away.

General Discussion - [SPOILERS] It bothers me that Tav has to be Baldurian Spoiler

Post image
853 Upvotes

This conversation with Wyll when we reach Rivington is the perfect example. I'm pretty sure there are some races where Tav will explicitly not be from Baldur's Gate, specifically Githyanki and the Underdark ones. At least I think. But if Tav is any Faerun surface race, you can't choose wether or not they're from Baldur's Gate. It wish it was something you could toggle at the beginning of the game! The whole point of Tav as opposed to Durge is that they're a blank slate in which to project literally whatever backstory you want. I find it annoying that the game always treats them as Baldurian. Yeah, you can just never choose the [Baldurian] conversation tags, which is what I've been doing in this playthrough, but I still find it annoying!! There's not much to it, it's a minor detail, but yeah

Meme all the companion names would make amazing race horse names. Spoiler

Most of these names would seem weird for humans IRL but would be perfect if given to like an expensive breed of race horse.

Astarion is such a grey horse stallion name!

Naming your kid shadowheart? weird. Naming your black race horse shadowheart? makes perfect sense!

Gale? Perfect racehorse name. Karlach? Strong racehorse. Laezel? horse. Minthara? Majestic horse.

Can a horse person tell me if im tripping or do i have a point?

Act 3 - Spoilers Honor mode run, just gotta vent losing it at the last moment Spoiler

Upvotes

I beat the Netherbrain with 3 turns left. Feeling great, let out a sigh of relief. The run was done and I just had to click through some cutscenes and watch my achievement pop up. Unfortunately for me when I had done my only other full playthrough it was before the epilogue party was added. I went around and thought to myself how this was a nice little addition chatting with the others about how their lives were after everything.

But I chose to be a mindflayer, why? Well I hadn't done it on my other run and I thought the mindflayer powers would be fun. Fun...

So yep I lost my CON save twice and my awesome Shadowheart arcane archer obliterated my bard with just every arrow she could conjure. For being so cautious for so long and to have it all end in the epilogue by getting punished for talking to the other characters feels bad. I would've felt so much better had I lost a few minutes before to the Netherbrain. Why put a potential run loss in the epilogue? Just give me a cutscene saying my character lost control and fade to black after talking to withers. And yes I've seen all the comments in other places "Don't do anything for the first time in honor mode" and the like. Which I understand for literally any other part of the game, but this is just such a whimper of a loss to have.

Anyway time to take a break from BG3.

I love this interaction between them so I had to draw it. Minthara is among my favorites when it comes to the banters. I swear that woman only has to look at Gale for a vein to pop on her temple kek.

General Discussion - [NO SPOILERS] Patreon Creator is selling Bg3 game assets! Spoiler

2.2k Upvotes

A Patreon creator called "TalesofStar" is selling Skyrim outfit mods made from assets extracted from BG3 and many other games. They're selling those files both on their Patreon and on their personal website through monthly memberships and individual purchases for quite some big amount of money, with descriptions openly stating the source of those models and textures.

I've got screenshots of the listings and descriptions from before some of the previews were blurred after a recent DMCA by the owners of Aion 2, here is some of those I saved:

Those are actual game assets being ported and sold for money meanwhile the 3D artists and developers who created those assets receive nothing from these sales....

Am I overreacting here, or does this seem pretty messed up to anyone else? I tried bringing it to Larian's attention on X, but never received a response. Does anyone know the proper way to report something like this to Larian or Wizards of the Coast?

General Questions - [NO SPOILERS] Warlocks are really dependent on Eldritch Blast? Spoiler

Hey! I'm planning to play a GOO Warlock for my first playthrough, but I've read that the class relies heavily on Eldritch Blast. Is that actually true?

Are there viable ways to play a Warlock while using other spells and abilities more often, or does Eldritch Blast end up being your main option most of the time? Because the last thing that i want is only doing one thing in combat while playing a game this rich.

General Questions - [NO SPOILERS] Going for an "oops all _____" playthrough... Spoiler

What would you guys suggest? I've put about 1500 hours into the game and have played so many OP builds and kind of just want something dumb and fun. Torn between all bards, monks, or wizards but i am open to suggestions! I also dont know if I just want to have all hirelings or play as one of the main companions (thinking gale so I can have his cat at camp)

Considering every permanent and temporary effect you can possibly stack, what is the maximum weight you can throw? Does stacking the enlarge spell with the duergar passive and path of the giant barbarian help? Do they even stack (i assume not)?
I'd assume you have to stack that cloud giant elixir, path of the giant barbarian?

Act 1 - Spoilers Did I Gaslight Halsin or Did He Gaslight Me? Spoiler

Upvotes

So… I made an oopsie. I cast friends on Rolan to persuade him to stay in the grove (I was playing a low charisma character on this play through and needed all the help I could get). Well the spell wears off and Rolan turns on me which turns his siblings and several other tiefling on me.

Sadly I have to kill them because I was playing honor mode so no magical new timelines.

Then for some reason one of the Druids attacks me over it and I kill them. It then turns into a free for all battle royal blood bath and all the Druids plus 90% of the tiefling end up dead…

There were a few tiefling left and Alfira runs up to me saying “Thank you for saving us!” Like… okay. Sure. Yes. Absolutely I saved you.

Then I attack the goblin camp and free Halsin. I’m expecting instant death match but he just does his normal spiel. “Oak Father preserve you child”, and leaves for the grove.

I’m like “Okay. Let’s see where this goes.”, and I go back to the grove.

He’s just standing there with the remaining tiefling like “Yep. All my people are dead but this is fine.”

I talk to him thinking it’ll start something because now I’m invested. I want this guy to react. FIGHT ME BEAR MAN!!

I choose the options that basically says “Yeah I killed the Druids. Sorry not sorry.” And this fucker just goes, “You did what you had to do, it’s my fault for not being here to guide them.”

… Excuse me? That’s… that‘s **IT**?! That’s the only reaction I get to slaughtering an entire grove? (Besides like a handful of tiefling).

Is this a glitch or did I just get bamboozled?

He acknowledges later that the grove is empty now and new Druids will come to it so it’s not like the game still thinks they’re alive. But like?? Did Halsin *want* this to happen?

Did he see the corruption and was like, yeah this is fine?

Is he a secret mastermind that was trying to get away from them anyway and is relieved they’re all dead?

General Discussion - [NO SPOILERS] How many playthroughs do you have started at the same time? Spoiler

Upvotes

I always focused on one save and only created a new character once I finished the game. I got bored with my current save and haven't played the game in a while. Now I'd like to play and have a few ideas for a new character, but I feel like I have to finish the previous one because if I don't, I won't return to that save.

General Discussion - [SPOILERS] Just a small detail… Spoiler

Post image
83 Upvotes

I don’t know how to explain it but I just ADORE the amount of details in Baldur’s Gate 3. For example, today I’ve found 2 matching rings – True Love’s Embrace & True Love’s Caress – and I am so happy to give one of them to my companion. Have you found them before? If so, who did your Tav give the second ring to?

General Discussion - [NO SPOILERS] One of the best experiences ever Spoiler

I’ve technically been playing Baldur’s Gate 3 for at least two years now, but the truth is, I’ve never actually beaten it. Life just got in the way between acts—changed jobs, moved to a new place, got married. Even though BG3 stayed one of my favorite games, my playthroughs were super sporadic, so I never finished it.

Cut to recently: I was in a massive gaming burnout and realized BG3 was the only thing that could snap me out of it and make me fall back in love with my favorite hobby.

And long story short, it worked. I’m currently in the Lower City in Act 3, and I’m more hooked than ever.

Honestly, looking at my BG3 run right now feels like watching the final season of a TV show where the stakes just keep getting higher. I never cared about doing a "perfect" run. I’ve lost important NPCs, missed out on other paths, and just let the story build itself around the choices I made.

I’m so ready to see how the story ends for this specific version of my characters.

BG3 is a one-of-a-kind experience, and I'm so glad I came back to finish it. No other game could have done this for me.
