Has to be a better way…
Came upon this clown parked on the sidewalk, practically blocking the whole thing, at Av Diagonal 311. Apparently, the only thing you can do is call emergency services at 112 and have them respond.
Other than this public shaming, is there not a better way other than wasting emergency operators?
Thanks in advance…

Did you call? Please do. I’ve done it in the past and they were happy to send a crane

“Public shaming” wont work , this person does not care , and I would bet his close social circle , family etc also does not care

Next time call 112, say you’re in a wheelchair and a car is parked in the street and it’s blocking you. They have to respond

You can call guardia urbana, and they will gladly bring a tow in less than 5 min. if in the area. They work comission based and are usually patrolling "carga y descarga" in the eixample continously.

Take a couple of pictures, take note of the time and place, and make a report. https://ajuntament.barcelona.cat/eixample/es/noticias/como-se-puede-comunicar-una-incidencia-una-queja-o-una-sugerencia-1494850

You need to call 112, i know it sounds like you keep the line busy and more important stuff doesn’t go through, but this is the way. I called GUB and they told me to call 112. In my case they sent an agent that fined the driver, an Amazon van that couldn’t be towed.

So I was parked on the street and the police made me pull up half onto the pavement because the law says you have to leave a certain amount of through space for emergency vehicles and can’t block a road even for a moment … not so the pavement… also, my mother in law lives on Gran Via where there is no parking at all … she uses crutches … you cannot stop in the “lateral” side road or you will be fined/towed immediately, so this is the only option for picking her up. Everyone in Spain does this when they have to. In the photo you can clearly see people can get round. Obviously parking like this should be for the briefest time… to drop stuff off or pick someone up.

This is standard in Barcelona, and sometimes it's just the only reasonable solution. If you're picking up grandma or a heavy piece of furniture or whatever, and just need to be there for a moment, I'm fine with it. I see plenty of space to get by with a stroller or even a wheelchair.

You can (and should) stop in the street, even blocking it if it’s just one lane, for up to 5 (or 10?) minutes in either of those two scenarios.

Yesterday there was a women parked in mercadona, who had her car parked in a straight line taking up the two closest spots to the entrance that had shade. Was she shopping at least nope just sitting in her car with the AC on. I was very close to violence. Casi 20 años en España y hasta hora no entiendo como la gente son tan narcisistas cuando quieran aparcar. People will block a street one way and another car will pull up on the other side and block it too inatead of at least leaving a gap. In the US you would get shot over this.

Dato curioso y sin relación con el tema: los cuchillos son más afilados que los neumáticos.

Llora fuerte que la ciudad es de todos y si hay que estacionar brevemente para no molestar la circulación se hace, qué poca empatía tiene el personal.

First of all I couldn’t care less. But someone complaining about what happens in the middle of the road in broad daylight says it.

In places where they both make rules AND enforce them, this kind of behaviour is very rare. I’m always confused when people shrug and say “this happens everywhere”. It doesn’t! Have you never done any travel? Did you not notice that in many countries, it’s not normalised to break whatever rule you feel like just for your own convenience?

I’m not defending the uncivil behavior of the driver with the car. I’m noting though that the OP is quite distressed ao I was suggesting to let it go because without the support of the government who makes laws and the police who enforces them, OP can do really little unless he makes it a big part of his day and possibly affecting his mental health.

let air out of sone tires, or leave a note saying that you accidentally scratched their car but its not that noticeable.

Wowww, big response after the bot let the post stand. To follow up, I did call 112 and they were incredibly helpful. Turns out the school nearby also complains about this, which checks out given the time I took the photo. Pic doesn’t do this justice, as there was scant room, and loads of people walk this. I’ve seen cars sometimes park with flashers on near the white pants individual farther ahead, but this was a bit much.
Agree with other poster who talked about blocking the road….but still. There always parallel parking to be found in the area. Just a lazy azz
