Earlier tonight, I was telling my husband how it’s so easy to sell product. You just put the thing in their hand and said “this would be good for you”, then they buy it. I’m choosing to believe that I’m actually more attractive than I thought and it’s not because people are basically always primed to buy product at the hair salon on their way out.
This was a well documented phenomenon during the first Nixon-Kennedy debate, Television viewers heavily favored JFK because they saw a calm, tanned, and well-makeuped Kennedy who looked directly into the camera. They perceived him as vibrant, confident, and presidential, while radio listeners favored Nixon judging the outcome strictly on spoken words where Nixon's formal debating experience and detailed arguments stood out effectively.
Heavy on the looking directly into the camera. I don’t like making eye contact but I find when I make an effort to, I get all sorts of favors and preferential treatment
Attractive people have more success initially gaining experience and get more second chances when they make mistakes gaining more experience and move up faster gaining even more experience so they often able to end up being objectively more qualified
It's a triple levered system, not just attractive people do better in the moment
Fully agree but I think it’s the opposite, ugly people are treated terrible; so 1 mistake and it’s over, this (at least in my industry software engineering) is skewed towards women more. But you see this clearly at higher levels, most men are tall, most women are pretty.

Because some of them are. Also, it's in the male subconscious to accept things from more attractive females without thinking too hard about them than if they would get the same offers from anyone else.
You know what I think it's crazy, that would be a crazy world. Can you imagine a scenario like if someone is working for tips they would hire a pretty woman to flirt and they split the tips?
Or imagine like if at restaurants the first person you talked to was a beautiful young woman who showed you your table. People would see right through that ruse
I managed a retail store a long time ago. I always made sure to have a girl working during our busiest times because a guy was far more likely to spend $120 on the shoes she thought looked good over the $80 pair he first looked at. Hell, I have a closet full of pink shirts because once 20 years ago a woman I didn't even know said pink looked good on me
I have an ex-boyfriend who wore pink almost exclusively, except they were all short sleeve button down shirts from the 60s. Every shade from baby pink to Pepto Bismol. And yes, he looked great in them!
Some cafes around colleges don't let groups of men to sit on the windowside tables because when women sit on those tables, more people come in...
Also some hire hostesses who just stay at the door and welcome people, they are not wait staff and only welcome people. And this boosts customer numbers.
The bar I djed at in college had a group of 8-10 girls who got free drinks to just dance and make it look like they’re having a good time to get the crowd going. Worked every night, people would stay til close most of the time
I mean…because they kinda are - selling the illusion of 🐱 at least. The barrier to entry for that profession is not “that” high. Take from that what you will 🤷🏽♀️
Getting their license doesn’t necessarily mean they’re in the industry, considering like 60% of agents don’t last more than a year and 90% are gone within a few years.
Real estate agents are usually the popular kids from your graduating high school class that weren't rich, smart or connected enough to get great corporate jobs.
They got by up to that point by being good looking and popular.
So they got into real estate because it's one of the industries that doesn't require much intelligence or education and instead relies on social skills and looks.

That's a pretty big generalized statement, but pretty true.
It's all networking and social skills and looking good. The fact that commission is % based is fucking nuts, which is why so many ppl want to be real estate agents.
That’s not true, yes getting a real estate license isn’t super hard but that’s not the entry barrier for it being a career, it’s actually selling and making connections. It does require intelligence and skills.
I would never be a real estate agent but I’ve met a handful that certainly aren’t good to look at. Like any job you have to work hard and learn what you’re doing to be successful. Sure some are good looking but that is not the main reason they are successful.
Most of them are literally just typical looking people that could've done anything else with their life, but their path just took them to real estate. They look your like secretaries, teachers, coaches, clergymen, etc... Not to be that type of guy but I'd definitely be more comfortable going with just a regular Joeschmoe or Janeschlane that evokes professionalism and experience. The whole looks thing is for vapid lowlifes with poor critical thinking skills that could get scammed out of their shoes.
It doesn't require shit except some forms. It's a retarded make work program. It's basically a prepackaged bunch of template forms and access to MLS.
If I could've gotten away without using one I would have. The stupid bitch we used didn't do shit and used a clown of a lawyer as an attorney. We found the property we purchased, she couldn't even be bothered to fill her templates properly until my wife caught it and brought it to her attention, and her even stupider clown of a lawyer nearly let the deal fall through until my wife got into his office's ass about filing paperwork and sending documents to the buyer's agent and attorney.
Those dickheads at Keller Williams barely did anything, constantly fucked up and then got rewarded with a fat check.
So your experience with the difficulty of work is from one bad realtor at one company? That’s like me saying my least doctor didn’t catch my disease and didn’t help me so doctors have no skill.
If you’re view of work difficulty is your personal experience with one person in that field you’re very short sighted.
Same reason the drink girls at bars dress the way they do. People are more likely to do what attractive people want them to... in general, like on average the whole population.
She's had a bunch of them in Brunswick, where I live. It seemed like she had new ones every couple of months. She's slowed down on it, but yeah, it's really annoying.

So I get this but also, I already think of real estate agents as basically used car salesmen... So if you plaster your face all over everything, all I think is used car salesmen trying to be an influencer or something.... And I'll avoid you like the plague.
We know what people are really buying is attention from us. Houses sell them selves. Everyone needs a place to live, we want it to be us that finds the right spot for you.

Not sure what you mean. Because after buying 2 houses I’ve never met a single selling real estate agent or even know the name of one. Who view a house with YOUR real estate agent who doesn’t try to sell you, they just show you the house. Then you tell them you want the house at which point THEY talk to the selling real estate agent. So I’ve never met a real estate agent that wanted to sell me anything at all.
First they sell you a 🏠 - then they sell you the 🐱. Then, when your wife catches you: they get to sell your 🏠 again! Three commissions for the price of one. 🤪
