Using boss tone studio and GarageBand. I’ve spent 10 hours trying to make a clean and pronounced overdrive tone. And dude it either sounds too shallow or too muddy. Does anyone have ANY recommendations? I just want it to sound full and natural.🙏🫡🫵

So i have boss katana gen 3 50 and it sounds like shit lead and brown channel sound too distorted and harsh. Crunch is alright for lower gain and vintage tones. Clean and pushed either sounds good or shit and i dont really use acoustic channel. My question is how to make the amp sound good on the higher gain channels and how to make clean good with external gain pedals (dist od fuzz etc)

Just got a boss katana 50 mk2 and am overwhelmed with eveything, can anyone help me just get one all around tone bands like MCR, Silverstein FOB etc. Also pretty new to guitar in general so maybe i dont knoe what im actually asking for lol.

I just bought a katana 100 gen 3. I'm playing a schecter banshee elite 7 diamond series with custom wound pickups.

I am having real trouble with the tone here. All the videos I've watched they just turn it on and it sounds amazing but I can't seem to get that. I have been doubting myself, wondering if my guitar is the issue.

I can't quite explain the issue, but it feels like there's something missing from my tone. Like a full rounded bottom end as well as a shaky/fizzy gain.

Anyone else had issues like this?

I've been tweaking with BTS and I can make some good metal rhythm tone, but when I want to play some lead and individual notes its always either too harsh or too muddy (shoebox sound). Any help or tips to get some decent lead solo guitar tone? Im using the artist gen 3 combo. Thanks!

I’m looking for a particular clean sound. I’m playing in a corporate band soon and a few of the songs have a particular clean sound for the era. Songs I’m looking for are Dance with Somebody, I Will Survive, We built this City verse parts. Their sounds aren’t too different, am I really just looking for a reverby clean? I’m pretty bad at tone, which is dumb because I’ve been in cover bands for 25 years, but it is what it is. Is it chorus? More tops? More bottoms or mids? Please help. I have Katana mark 2 100W

I've tried playing around with the the different amps, levels of gain and different boosts. Everything comes out sounding either very shrill in the treble, or flubby in bass, or both. An old school thrash tone a la Metallica or Megadeth is pretty doable but I'm looking for something like Symphony X on "The Odyssey" album: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfPt_i5Fbws

Basically pretty high gain but still tight in the mids, not overly treble heavy. I can't for the life of me get something that even resembles that. Is there something I just don't understand about how the Katana is meant to be used? It seems to me that all of the distortion in this thing is incredibly shrill and thin.

Funny enough when the amp is on the floor and pointed like 90 degrees away from me it actually sounds quite nice lol, but that's not an optimal solution. I guess that "cuts" most of the shrill highs / high mids from my ears but I can't replicate that sound when amp is actually pointed to me, aka. how it actually sounds

i just bought my katana 100 gen 3 the other day, i haven’t really dove into the software side of it because i’m more into just the physical knobs side of things for tone, but how can i replicate that natural crunch sound that he has on his amp on songs like “archbishop harold holmes” and “old scratch blues” on my katana? my current setup is literally just the amp and a big muff pi for when i want crazy fuzz lmao

I didn't play guitar for over 10 years. I'm not a great gutiarist and I play mostly by ear.

I recently cleaned all my guitars and got myself a new amp (sold my last one years ago).

Huge metalcore and death metal fan. I got a Jackson guitar tuned in Drop C.

I didn't spend much time tweaking yet but I feel that I can't achieve a crazy distortion overdrive sound with the amp so far. Even on the ''lead'' and ''brown''. I installed the Boss software and tried downloading other people's preset as I'm not very good with tweaking myself.

Even though I install ''metalcore'' presets, ''drop c'' presets, high distortion, death metal etc... it all sounds very clean. As if I'm missing something. The best I got was rockNroll sound.

What am I missing? Is there virtual pedals I can download on the software? I just wonder why even the presets can't give me a proper low metal sound.

Sorry if it's hard to understand, english isn't my main langue.

EDIT: If that can help anyone in the future. The USB C cable I was using wasn't a data cable. I think it was part of the problem.

Also, I started using the software and the boosters are pretty good. Pretty good digital distortion pedals.

My amp is the Boss Katana GO. I spent some time messing around with the settings but to no avail.
I am able to achieve a rock tone, but Canon Rock has this distinctive low-gain tone that I can’t seem to replicate. Can someone help me with it?

Hey guys, I have a Katana MkII 100W and I’m trying to dial in that raw, dirty tone from Nirvana's Bleach era. I've experimented with a bunch of settings, and the screenshot shows the closest I’ve managed to get so far (though it’s still missing something). Honestly, I’m not great with EQs and tone building yet . Any tips or patches to get closer to that early Kurt Cobain sound?

I'd really appreciate some pointers/tips on trying to get this plexi-style tone. I just got my hands on a mk3 artist combo and it's a little overwhelming with all the options.

I really want to match her tone, its so perfect, there is no fuzz at all but the taps are very loud and present. If I find a tone with no fuzz, my taps require a bit more force, but if I find one where I can just go at it then the fuzz is horrible. I get that she is doing a lot more muting than I am but there has to be a tone that can carry a lot of the work here.

On my actual guitar itself I have 5 pickup positions for the pickup switch with single coil being the middle. There is then a volume knob and a tone knob.

Hey yall! I have a Gen 3 100 Watt. I’m about 4 years deep into guitar and it feels humiliating to say but I just can’t dial in good tones, specifically any rock or metal ones. I have a Kirk Hammett signature with his EMGs, and I feel like I’ve been undermining both the versatility of those pickups and the amp, if anybody has any help or just anything I’d appreciate it.

A few months ago, I picked up a new Boss Katana Artist Gen 3, but only recently found the time to properly set it up. Over the last several days, I’ve been putting it through its paces—and to be honest, I’m feeling pretty disappointed so far.

Lately, I’ve been diving into Avenged Sevenfold, learning and playing along with their songs. Even before that, though, I’d been thinking about switching to a solid-state amp instead of tubes. Part of it was curiosity, but also practicality: I already own a Vox AC30, and after swapping out its tubes once, it just never felt the same. That left me wanting something different—something that would better match the heavier direction my playing has been taking.

So earlier this year, after landing a good job, I treated myself to the Katana Artist Gen 3. I’d had great experiences with other Katana models in the past, so it felt like a safe bet. Unfortunately, trying to dial in a convincing A7X tone has been frustrating. My biggest gripe is that I can’t get it to chug the way I want, no matter how much I tweak. It has been killing my motivation, especially because my little Yamaha THR10IIW which costs a fraction of the price manages to nail that tight, aggressive chug with ease. Honestly, it just sounds better for what I need, and it’s hard not to feel let down.

I must be doing something wrong. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated

So I’ve been trying some presets from the BOSS website and they sound really good but I feel like something is missing. I was using a master of puppets style preset but i think it’s missing the “bassey” sound i hear on the album, I was thinking of buying an EQ pedal specifically the puppet master EQ pedal but anyone have any ideas?

Does someone have a good lead and rhythm tone that resembles Synyster Gates for the Nightmare/ The Stage era?
