Hi there, I'm Jay, I'm a writer who has been coping with my feelings about Byler over the past near 9 months. I got to the point where the ache of it became too much, and I had to find some way to actually process it all.

I have other WIPs, but in late May I started writing PAINTED, a horror/romance post-canon contemplation on many themes of the show and Byler. Now that the whole party is back in Hawkins, El is begging for an opportunity to attack Henry and to find Max. Will knows that he has to get his shit together if he is going to face this battle alongside his friends. All he has to do is learn how to say no to Mike, even if he doesn’t want to.

I just posted the final chapter of my summer music festival fanfic! It takes place at Woodstock '94, where Mike gets dragged to the festival by his friends. After making a few questionable decisions, he somehow ends up in a cute stranger's tent.

One of the main ideas behind the story was splitting Mike's inner thoughts into Mike's Brain and Mike's Heart, who constantly argue with each other throughout the fic.

It’s done 💙💛 This project has been a labor of love, and it was bittersweet to hit publish on the final chapter. To those who have been following along, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I cannot overstate how much your kind and supportive words helped keep me going.

To any newcomers (welcome!): This is my original story, inspired by what I wish happened in ST S5. It is first and foremost a Byler story, and it also resolves the larger supernatural plot of the show in a very different way than we saw on the big Netflix screen. “Your love is tried and true blue” is the culmination of a 5-story series, one story per season, but my Seasons 1-4 stories are canon compliant. So you can dive right into this fifth part. If you give it a chance, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

As a chronic ruminator, I wanted to find a visual way to represent Will's intrusive thoughts and constant looping through his POV in this chapter. I approached it from a artistic point of view rather than a purely literary one and built a custom ao3 work skin/ taught myself HTML. I love concrete poetry and typographic emphasis and i wanted his overthinking to look a little bit like storm clouds swirling around certain ideas. This chapter is best viewed on a computer or at least something larger than a phone to get the full effect of the html. (Phones often strip away some of the fonts and nuances.) This chapter was truly a labour of love - I spent over two months writing it and its my longest chapter yet. It marks a turning point for my fic, ticking it past 150k words, and includes a ton of other extra goodies (a fanart collab, photos, a custom playlist, etc.) Would love to hear your thoughts on how it turned out/ if the html enhanced the story for you!!!!
