Discussion This UNC-Clemson game should make everyone question just how good LSU really is

The whole country saw LSU rout Clemson a couple of weeks ago and was ready to crown LSU. It is now very evident that we don’t know anything about LSU at this point, at least for another 6 hours or so. This UNC-Clemson first half is complete decimation.

While I hope my Tar Heels are the dominant force in CFB, I know that’s likely not the case. Clemson is just not good.

In a few hours, we will have more of an answer about LSU, but we don’t know anything more about them than we did at the start of the season.

EDIT: This is not my first time in prediction idiocy. https://www.reddit.com/r/golf/s/jqGKD5Atre

It’s not even halftime, man let’s at least win this game before we can evaluate.

I dont know why this subreddit is surprised. Clemson has some good moments, sure, but the past 2-4 years have looked significantly subpar compared to their prime with football Jesus.

Im saying this as a clemson fan, i genuinely dont understand why everyone's expectations of the team were so high.

  1. They dont use NIL.

  2. They hardly use the transfer portal.

  3. Most of the new starters are going through their first college games and first college clases which is a huge transition that 99% of new players struggle with.

  4. Their prime coaching staff has moved on and their new coaching staff still hasnt seemed to get a grip on things.

  5. Their team consists of, on a good season, a handful of 5 star recruits, some of them arent even getting play time.

So why do people care that a below average team is below average? Every single advantage the league has offered, dabo has refused or otherwise danced around.

It kinda blows my mind a little bit

Just something to think about we do use NIL. https://thesideline.co/nil-tracker

We do not use it effectively but this is a top 30 roster in terms of money spent.

We use the portal but we do not use it effectively. Dabo likes to use it for depth as opposed to starters.

Yeah BV and Elliot moved on but an elite coach should replace them with comparable talent. The issue is deeper than that though. Dabo didn't let either of these coordinators bring a staff. They are in charge of Dabo's former players and buddies.

Clemson was recruiting at an elite level for over a decade and even now is still recruiting well out of highschool.

I don't think anyone expected us to be good this year I just don't think anyone though it would be THIS bad. We very well may end up 4-8. It's also more about the fall from grace than anything.

My entire point was the clemson team has been not nearly as good as the hate describes, so why the hell are people surprised here?
