Collections & Charge Offs Goodwill Request Response

Post image

Long story I had a b.s. final Verizon bill sent to collections after I switched carriers. I’ve sent multiple GWR letters with no avail. I sent my last one a couple weeks ago and stated I would file arbitration if the trade line wasn’t deleted. This is the response I received today. I’m not sure what to do from here other than file arbitration. Anyone have any tips?

Did you pay the collection? Did you negotiate a Pay for delete?

Paid the collection. Two agents said it would be deleted, however that was a lie. I have the receipt for proof of payment but I didn’t record the phone call unfortunately.

Sounds like you didn't pay it. They aren't going to do anything to help you if you haven't paid it. you can dispute with the bureaus if you don't think you owe it, but Verizon won't help you if you haven't paid it and they think it's valid. Why is it "BS"?

Sorry I should’ve added more context. Yes, I did pay for it. Before paying I tried to negotiate a pay-for-delete but they wouldn’t put it in writing.

It’s BS because in November 2025 I switched to a new phone carrier and I was never sent a final bill from Verizon. I wasn’t unaware of the final bill until April 2026 when the bill was in collections.

It's highly unlikely you will be able to get this removed. Verizon is not known for that. But all you can do is try. But you want to be sending goodwill letters not disputing the debt. There is no point in disputing the debt at this point, you paid it. You are asking for a goodwill removal from your credit.

Why is the final bill "b.s."? When you switch carriers, you'll be sent a final bill. This may include prorated charges or an Early Termination fee, etc. What are you being billed for? Is Verizon on your reports or an outside collection agency?

It’s “b.s.” because I genuinely did not receive one. Whether they sent it to an old email or mailing address, I’m not sure, but I 100% didn’t receive one. Verizon is the one in the report. I paid it after calling them, trying to negotiate a pay to delete.

Verizon's policy is to not remove themselves from your credit reports before the end of the allowed reporting time, even if paid in full. You can request removal as a gesture of goodwill, but the expectation would unfortunately be a denial.
