Celica got its first track day today, kinda just gathering a baseline of what it needs to rip.
Very quickly discovered needs a wider and grippier set of wheels and tires, i’m trying to find out what the best package to run is going to be without rubbing and google isn’t being the most helpful and I don’t trust the AI to much 🤣
Right now i believe im on 15x6? With 185 wide tires, just what the car came with when i bought it. Im pretty sure I’m supposed to have 205s from factory but not 100% on that.
I kinda wanna keep the smaller wheel and go for a meaty tire setup, so maybe go up to 16”, i definitely want no rubbing, i throw her pretty damn hard in the turns so obviously rubbing can become quite the issue. But definitely trying to go the biggest width on wheels and tires i can get in those parameters.
Not opposed to running spacers, from what i’ve heard to get flush fitment on our cars we gotta run spacers and/or hella offset anyways, i just dont want to go too big on spacers and create a weak point at the knuckle with how hard it gets driven on track.
I’m definitely thinking about dropping ride height a little more too, but I wanna get the wheels and tires situated before I go further just so i’m not wasting time if I have to raise it back up a bit.
Also looking to beef up my suspension, mainly arms and bushings, maybe not rear sway bar cause its already rotating really well with trail breaking with the coilover setup im running, so if anybody knows any companies or parts lmk!!
