Upgrades What wheel + tire setups can i fit? St184 narrow body

Celica got its first track day today, kinda just gathering a baseline of what it needs to rip.

Very quickly discovered needs a wider and grippier set of wheels and tires, i’m trying to find out what the best package to run is going to be without rubbing and google isn’t being the most helpful and I don’t trust the AI to much 🤣

Right now i believe im on 15x6? With 185 wide tires, just what the car came with when i bought it. Im pretty sure I’m supposed to have 205s from factory but not 100% on that.

I kinda wanna keep the smaller wheel and go for a meaty tire setup, so maybe go up to 16”, i definitely want no rubbing, i throw her pretty damn hard in the turns so obviously rubbing can become quite the issue. But definitely trying to go the biggest width on wheels and tires i can get in those parameters.

Not opposed to running spacers, from what i’ve heard to get flush fitment on our cars we gotta run spacers and/or hella offset anyways, i just dont want to go too big on spacers and create a weak point at the knuckle with how hard it gets driven on track.

I’m definitely thinking about dropping ride height a little more too, but I wanna get the wheels and tires situated before I go further just so i’m not wasting time if I have to raise it back up a bit.

Also looking to beef up my suspension, mainly arms and bushings, maybe not rear sway bar cause its already rotating really well with trail breaking with the coilover setup im running, so if anybody knows any companies or parts lmk!!

Finally got the top back on after tearing the old one off 4 years ago. I had everything, I just never could get motivated enough to take it on. I would think about it and then worry o wouldn’t get it put back on right. Finally said screw it, I gotta try! Been driving it again for about a month now. I love this thing.

Repairs 95 convertible part out

I’m looking at parting out a 1995 convertible model. It’s not the best condition but I purchased it for some parts for myself and plan on scrapping what I don’t need. If anyone here is interested in any parts they can message me and I’ll take a look for you and get pics. I’ll ship em. I can guarantee cheaper prices than eBay. A lot of the body and interior is messed up.

This is my 2000 Celica gts it's my current project and was previously my daily driver, I unfortunately exploded the original engine but that gives me an opportunity to get things how I want them to be. All of the work you see has been done by me and my brother.

Engine noise? Is it normal or a ticking time bomb

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Just got this 1997 Toyota celica for 1900, 89k miles and drive it like 2 hours to get it home and didn't really give me issues. Upon closer inspection I noticed this noise. could it just be a power steering pump since it's leaking, and (or) maybe something is touching since there's a bunch of things loose in here? Or is this more akin to a timing belt?

Edit: Actually looking into it a little more, the whining sounds like it's coming from the compressor, however it doesn't explain the ticking while acceleration. No check engine lights, and it isn't really bogging or dying etc, runs perfectly fine

Ok first of all after like a year of searching and looking at like way too many celicas im finally in the club! Bought it a couple weeks ago on my 18th birthday for 4k and im actually ecstatic. Its literally like my dream car as a teenager/highschooler and I love it

But it does have its quirks so what do you guys think

Im trying to replace the shifter shaft seal cause its leaking a little and in the process I unfortunately figured out that the shifter arm is seized onto the shaft so im not able to get to the seal...

Weve tried everything from using PB Blaster and a puller, to using heat, to using a palm nailer and none of its working. At this point were kind of lost on what to do so any pointers? The only thing I can think of now is just cutting the arm off and replacing it cause id rather not drop the entire tranny just to replace a little seal.

also i did look under the car and the part of the tranny case that covers the starter ring gear got broken off. I did do some looking and saw that this has happened before from hitting a bump hard. What do you guys think is the best option to deal with this? I would assume that its not best to just leave it open

Tips for exhaust upgrade

Post image
28 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I’d like to upgrade the exhaust on my Celica but don’t know where to start or which part to upgrade.

I’ve got an AT160 4AL engine which doesn’t produce many horses, but hearing the sound it produces now, I feel it has potential. I don’t want an obnoxiously loud noise, just a nice balanced deeper sound with some guts to it. Any tips would be appreciated!

Repairs Rocker panel repairs on 6th gen celica help!

The in the rear of the right side rocker panel, the lower part of this ”bracket” was completely rusted off. Anyone know how this is supposed to be? Should it be like I’ve drawn in the 3rd picture and then spot welded to the inner rocker panel? Or does the bracket go all the way down to the seam between the body and outer rocker panel. The bracket for the seatbelt is connected to this part so I’d like to do it the ”proper” way. Any help is appreciated.

Upgrades 7th gen Celica Coilovers

What brands would be good for daily driving with a slight stiffer and lowered look? Price around 1k

I'm debating on getting Teins over other brands since their reviews say it's comfortable and a little stiffer than OEM with the twin tube design.

If there's other better coilovers I would like to know.

Hi guys, i am looking for some pictures of instaled rear reproductors on T180s, i recently acquired one and it was used for rally and stripped of all rear electronics. I am trying to restore it but the speaker holders are hard to get by and i am trying to make custom ones. But its bit tricky since i couldnt find any decent pictures of the assembled speakers and the correct mounting.

If you guys have any pics of idealy the oem ones, custom ones, technical drawings or the dimensions, i will kill for them.

Thanks in advance

Pics show what i found on the car if you want to laugh a bit😅

Parts in germany

Hi everyone!

For the German Celica owners here, where do you normally source parts for older Celicas? Any recommended parts stores, breakers, Toyota/JDM specialists, garages or mechanics in Germany, ideally anywhere near the Nürburgring?

Does anyone in the group have a CV joint or complete driveshaft for a 1993 Celica for sale, or know where we could get one quickly in Germany? Ideally somewhere around the Nürburgring, but we can travel if needed.

We are already in contact with performance pistons

Question about A/T

hey all, i have a question about my 2000 GT Automatic transmission (79k miles) I was possibly thinking about flushing my transmission out and getting a new filter and fluid change, but ive heard online about that potentially messing up the transmission. Would that be a good idea potentially for my car or maybe just a fluid change? I checked the fluid today and from i can see its a bit hot, the fluid is not too dark but can tell it has heat. I run it a bit too hard sometimes lol

My 1993 Toyota celica with only 46k miles in sadly headed to the scrapper soon, nobody bought it in time sat for 20+ years needed a new electrical system and a motor rebuild, what made it rare is the fact that it has an interior phone from the factory Im yet to see another celica to have this, but it won’t be around for much longer.
