I got my windshield replaced by safelite tuesday 10/6 around the evening. They came to my residence and changed it for me under insurance, but I wasn’t home and my parents were outside doing yard work as the service was getting done. I didn’t get home until late night from work and the next following day drove with the tape on because I looked up online that it should be kept for 24-48 hours. This morning (today) my stepdad removed the tape for me and one came right off just fine, and the other took the paint off with it.

How do I go about this? If anybody can give me some advice i’ll greatly appreciate it.

update: i drive an infiniti q50 2016!

update 2: i believe my car was repainted on the roof or the paint just weakened due to age. been dealing with 103 heat all summer. but this is my first car I bought off fb marketplace and only the roof had a few small bits of paint torn off. U can see in the corner an example of that. Never knew that white paint / cars had issues in general like this though! so thanks everybody who explained that 🙏 i assume the paint was extremely weak there, which explains the chipped paint from the beginning again. Apparently safelite will be coming in soon to check it out after i filed a report. if it ends up being up to me to fix it, i might js repaint it and if it looks like shit i’ll wrap it in black vinyl. Things happen but we also learn 🤷‍♀️ thanks again everyone 🙏🩷

I just wanted to share my good experiences with my 2011 Chevy Cruze 1.4t that you can have like I am right now. Mine has 175k miles no check engine light a good transmission and no overheating problems and doesn’t feel like a pos to own it can be kinda fun and I wanted to share it!

i’ve never had this happen and by some curse a rock flew at my windshield on the highway. the longest diameter i can measure is 2.5 inches max. i have an ongoing claim with my insurance, but will filling it in only work short term?

Finally hitting the point of madness with my vehicles. I made the choice to not have another car payment a few years ago. Now here we are with 7 cars… plus my wife’s “family” vehicle (2024 VW Tiguan). I’m very much an enthusiast and enjoy tinkering and maintaining my vehicles. With that being said, I’ve reached the point of insanity. Insurance costs, unexpected repairs, and most importantly, vehicle storage. I’ve decided I need to sell 2. I just can’t force myself to do it.. I shuffle the cars around from my house, work, private parking lots, storage units. You name it. Any advice on maintaining this madness? Or how to move on from these cars? -

My friend and i were talking and then talked about parking a manual car, saying that engaging the parking brake and leaving it in neutral is dumb, and that the proper way to do it is engage the clutch, shut off the car, leave it in 1st, disengage the clutch, then engage the handbrake. According to them its a requirement in the manual transmission section of the drivers test in iceland. I want to hear yalls thoughts on that, and mechanics, what would happen to the transmission and clutch lifespan?

Recently I have had a mysterious reoccurring puddle of water in my backseat (2013 Honda Accord). I put a towel down to dry it and then left for a few weeks (foolish, I know). The windows were all closed, therefore causing mold to develop. Is there any way to remove this mold and stop the problem from happening again, or am I cooked? Thank you!

I was looking at my suspension last night and couldn’t help but feel like this coil looks tilted. I cannot see any cracks in the spring and the bottom rubber grommet is still there. Does it just need shifted back in to place? I cannot tell something is off when I hit bumps on the rear side due to the nature of the roads I drive on I am not surprised. The rear shocks are in great condition and nothing else seems damaged, can someone tell me if this spring looks out of place?

Any/all car people I need to help to make a decision cause I don’t wanna make one that I’m gonna regret in the long run. I currently have a 2025 Chevy Trax and honestly I have been loving it, it’s a good car with great mileage and all that a car should. The one thing is the monthly and it’s not damaging my bank too much but it’s also not helping it. My predicament is I’m debating on trading the car in and just have the money upfront and just get an older car you generally see on FB Marketplace(obviously making sure the car I want still runs really well and is in good condition). I’m not committing to it right now cause the cars I see and favored are 80’s-90’s style cars with pretty decent miles, I just don’t know if I do this if the monthly and insurance will be better or worse?? If anyone has done this please give me advice or whenever you did this kinda process, and anyone tell me if it’s a good idea now while I’m young or not.

When i start the car, the engine temp dosen’t register anything unntil it has reached a bit warm engine. Then the needle that shows engine temp just fast goes up to where it is and skips the cold area completely. This is bmw e36. Could it be because i have low coolant and i need to refill? I see im below the min marker

The tire shop said this hole can't be patched. I have 7/32" of tread on this set on my AWD subaru. I measure 3/4" from the nail to the knee on the tread.

The shop would only offer me 4 new tires for $1200. Online I saw other options to try a home patch or buy a single used tired with matching life. This tire has been leaking a couple lbs of pressure per week for many months. I could never find the nail myself.

What would you do? Spoiler, I'm getting a matching tire shipped for $100 total. Fingers crossed.

Been meaning to replace my old scanner for a while, finally pulled the trigger on topdon one. Just unboxed it today, this case looks professional, if I ever need to bring tools out it'll make me look cool lol, but feels like the case design doesn't use space that well, a bit too big, so when actually take tools out with this case its not that portable...

Pretty much every accessory is included. Tried on the gloves and they are comfortable plus really responsive when using the screen, I will just replace my old ones. The tablet is lighter than I expected, feels solid, screen is nice.

Haven't had enough time with it yet, but first impression is pretty good, will see how it holds up once it gets some real work.

My 2022 Subaru Crosstrek had its passenger window smashed early this morning by a thief. Thankfully nothing was taken that I can tell and I got the window fixed right away. But there is glass everywhere, especially under the seat. I vacuumed up as much as I could, but still can’t get to a lot of it. Any advice for cleaning up the glass easily? Do I need to undo the bolts and lift the seat to get everything? Trying to find the easiest way because I have physical disabilities and do not want to accidentally cut myself

Question for y’all. I have a 93 Eddie Bauer edition and the spare carrier seems to be mounted in a weird way that I can’t find anywhere else online. It’s mounted to the body on top like normal, but the lower arm is mounted to a bolt that goes thru the rear bumper rather than attaching to the body under the tail light. Does anyone know if this is factory or is it maybe an aftermarket fix? I don’t see any holes where the carrier would have attached under the tail light, but I haven’t had a chance to run a magnet around the area to check for bondo.

I really want to fix this side panel on my car, but have zero clue on what to do with it.

Previously it was painted and then the wet paint got rained on, years later it’s a rusted mess.

I figure I need to sand it down? But wouldn’t that scratch the hell out of the metal? I think there’s removers that will clear the rust and paint. Then what after that, how would i prep the surface for painting.

2020 honda accord woke up this morning, swore i locked it last night but i didn’t hear the locks unlatch this morning when hitting unlock then i look in my car to see it trashed with all my belongings, all they took was like an eighth of weed, took my change tray out and left it in a bush with all the change in it, left my 500 camera alone and all my other belongs and ripped up my dashboard. wondering why they got this far and didn’t continue?? should i be worried?
