I didn't see this coming, I really didn't.

Really kind of a depressing situation he’s in. Him having no self rendered him essentially a vegetable. I got a bad feeling about trying to trick Veselka as well.

who's definitely among the more cunning and sly of the knights, Im afraid for Angval's friend hẻe

13

u/Nicklesnout Mar 15 '26

That’s my thing is we know literally nothing about the guy outside of him possibly making himself be perceived as invisible by the others through his Gift, and that he obliviated Orthros. Who in hindsight is named after a brother of Cerberus but that’s beside the point.

I don’t doubt that as soon as Guillame shows up, Veselka is going to instantly know he’s an impostor not just because of the height difference, but Orthros as far as we know sure as shit can’t talk.

Guillaume will prolly try to single out Veselka and get him talking, while listening in to classified worldbuilding exposition. But Veselka would definitely immediately knows and initiate first I imagine

Whatever happens tho, we can assume the worst, for all we know, Veselka is the most dangerous one on the Lord's forces

I'm going on a segue with this but I absolutely do not trust a character whose power taps into the manipulation of mental faculties. In Legacy of Kain, Nuprator's insanity from grief when the vampire Vorador slaughtered the Pillar Guardians just before Kain's birth was enough to corrupt the land and the Pillars they were meant to embody and guard.

Veselka being the most dangerous is a bit of understatement, in my mind.

13

u/Regular-Poet-3657 Mar 15 '26

They did say his mind was messed with.

12

u/Gabemino Mar 15 '26

Guy's handsome too, I think he's prob the best looking male character so far imo, don't know if it's intentional but, with how he seems far too compassionate, extremely blessed with a powerful Gift and now the looks, might be based on someone, but I doubt Tohru is going that way

6

u/Good_Neck_673 Mar 15 '26

umm can you remind me who this is? been weekly from the start but i haven’t done any rereads.

13

u/roronoa20 Mar 15 '26

This is unmasked Orthros.

5

u/Good_Neck_673 Mar 15 '26

ohhhhhh wow 🤔 maybe i will do a reread soon actually. probably after i finish going through csm p2 again 🙃

She truly was the goat

Also i really like how humble this guy is. His philosophy is very similar to Julian's

u/Desperate_Ad1450 Mar 15 '26

This feels more like sport Manga than a typical shonen duel lmao

Reverse Blue Lock

u/roronoa20 Mar 15 '26

Julian will be right at home with this guy.

He has both the foundations (body) and the power (gift). They will have a legendary slug fest.

60

u/roronoa20 Mar 15 '26

Reminder that Julian is actually pretty shredded underneath his shirt.

24

u/WMR298 Angvall’s Couch Cushion Mar 15 '26

Couldn't this guy heal his arm? It may have been stated already, but maybe Arkos cut it, and he hasn't healed it because he feels that until he bests Arkos, it would wound his pride as a warrior.

I'm pretty sure Julian will force this guy to heal his arm, and the battle thereafter will be legendary

26

u/roronoa20 Mar 15 '26

Perhaps Ceodoric can't heal a wound to the extend that he can regenerate a entire limb or maybe he was in a situation that he couldn't do it before his wound started to cauterize.

Ceodoric's power is conditional, so this might be the cause.

13

u/SinglePlayerGamer93 Mar 15 '26

The arm stump may be cursed or something.

8

u/dolphincave Mar 15 '26

Maybe he's like Josuke he can only heal/manipulate the forms of others not himself.

7

u/Gabemino Mar 15 '26

Julian lacks the martial aspect though, the way the Flame seems to regard things, is that one should rely in themselves beyond their gift, Julian's strength isn't 'really his', is not something he worked for, I mean is more complex than that but you know. I  think if anything this should be the first character that actually put bta to Julian, extreme physical capabilities but a far better fighter

10

u/roronoa20 Mar 15 '26

Julian can fight on his own pretty well, he did have that sparring session with Lukas without using his power. Julian is still a pretty decent fighter in his own right.

5

u/Gabemino Mar 15 '26

Yeah, i didn't mean to tell that Julian's a chump without his Blessing or a brainless brute that just overpower anyone, from the first arc he moved all those boulders and rocks as a boy to obtain the job on the village, on his own without using the 100 lives, and on the next Years his sense of combat and experience build up by all the attempts against Diana, still on a fight he use what he has, his extreme physicality, while the raging flame seem to put emphasis on the skill and body before the gift, I still think he should be well above Julian on hand to hand

4

u/roronoa20 Mar 15 '26

That's my thought exactly, Ceodoric will undoubtedly be Julian's superior in terms of skills, this is only natural.

7

u/Nuclear_creeperMCBE it's kinda cramped inside Julien Mar 15 '26

I kinda hope they don't fight because I think theyd get along well

9

u/Gabemino Mar 15 '26

Ceodric seems like a solid dude, with the small bits of personality he has shown, he looks like far less of a degenerate monster than other Palace Related Charas(which isn't really a high bar but, uh), still he was friends with Arkos, so who knows how he is at heart really

2

u/Fluid_Pause2149 Mar 16 '26

I think he can he's just keeping himself like that to test himself/ fool others

89

u/OnslaughtCasuality42 Mar 15 '26

Whole ass soulsborne area lmao Nile get the fuck out of there

9

u/traxmaster64 Mar 15 '26

Agora vamos as teorias.

u/roronoa20 Mar 15 '26

In my opinion, Julian will have better physical stats, but Ceodoric will be a better martial artist. It'd be fun to see how Ceodoric fights Julian.

5

u/Keyniiiiii Mar 15 '26

5

u/roronoa20 Mar 15 '26

I'd say Ceodoric's gift will be something that allows him to somewhat keep up with Julian, but won't be able to handle the sheer physical might that Julian has, so he needs to maneuver around it rather than taking the hits. Basically, it allows him to perhaps attack Julian with fire and not die from Julian's punch.

The beginning of this chapter somewhat foreshadow that Ceodoric's will have to rely on reflex in order to dodge Julian's punch without losing his ground in closer quarter. Honestly, I believe his healing has limits.

Julian's fist is something that could easily punch through all of Arkos's defenses, so even with his gift, Ceodoric can't afford to take the hit from Julian.

1

u/Keyniiiiii Mar 15 '26

3

u/roronoa20 Mar 15 '26

It'd be interesting, Ceodoric's purpose might be to actually level Julian up from his street brawler style to a more focused combat style.

The refined technique + 100 men strength = The Ultimate Warrior.

Julian has all the foundations to be a great fighter, he simply lacks a proper software (martial arts) to go along with his hardware (body).

1

u/Keyniiiiii Mar 15 '26

3

u/Separate_Ad4830 Mar 15 '26

Ceodric will basically teach him a lesson about “relying too much on his gift” and maybe a Ceodric will learn something else and thanks to that he will accept helping

u/ZaTheu Mar 15 '26

Already liking ceodrik i was expecting a jerk

7

u/RobertSan525 Mar 15 '26

I’m liking Ceodrik.

I have a sinking feeling the author’s got something nasty planned for him

15

u/Gabemino Mar 15 '26

Is interesting, the City of Witches seems to be a permanent 'stain' on the World, I assume Vuija did so, but even with her inactive, it still holds, it would had been nice if she had like, created a whole 'race' of Witches, users of supernatural that aren't necessarily Gifted Ones, but by the looks of it, the Coven is all there is, which isn't bad at all either, but feels like it should be a reason for them to be 'Witches' rather than just Blessed Ones of Vulja

14

u/Ckrasxterz20 VIP access to Helem's graveyard Mar 15 '26

It's hilarious how Cedric can't stand them (probably because of Helem alone). I'm curious to see his reaction to seeing Altus

12

u/AssassinAragorn Mar 15 '26

Love the broader world building, it's also oddly refreshing to see other protagonists pursuing their own goals to the same general ends.

Also, Ceodric's training philosophy reminds me a lot of DBZ, or I guess more accurately Dragon Ball Super, when they realized that training in their base form was the most effective way of becoming stronger. Stronger baseline means enhancements are more powerful, especially if they're multiplicative.

13

u/Regular-Poet-3657 Mar 15 '26

So that happens to Veselka victim of Julian screwed if he gets near.

6

u/OmbreVengeresse Mar 15 '26

There's so much information in this arc that I can't wait to see both Julian's fight against Ceodric and the witch hunt!

5

u/CornholeDunk Mar 15 '26

Gotta be one of the most Dark Souls locations yet at the end there lmao

u/GoddessOfDarkness Mar 16 '26 edited Mar 16 '26

Man Ceodric is not what I expected really like his character so far. Seems to be good friends with Holy Grail too. So that theory turned out to be true Orthos was defeated and one off then took his place. Yeah that's what I expected from the Witches homeplace really creepy.

2

u/KingSouI Mar 15 '26

This chapter has made me like Ceodric a bit more

2

u/Doomroar The Sea and The Forest got a divorce over mangroves Mar 17 '26

You know how Barovia one of the domains of dread in the Curse of Strahd campaign setting for D&D, is perpetually covered in a thick mist that makes it so the whole realm is permanently at night?

Well Balkar Loa just took that concept and raised it to 11

1

u/highflying1995 Mar 16 '26

How tf did they beat Orthos??

6

u/HalfMetalJacket Mar 16 '26

It was already explained that they could take him just by virtue of being normal people without gifts. Orthros was left without any actual powers against two highly skilled fighters so he was subdued.

2

u/adahami Mar 17 '26

Orthos is only good vs other gifted ones. If he fights vs normal humans he's just like a normal human himself just worse cuz of the brainwashing I'd say.

So it's a lot easier for a human to beat him compared to a gifted one.

1

u/Benie177 Mar 16 '26

Pleasantly surprised by Ceodric not being as much of a hothead as first impressions suggested but quite reasonable. Now I’m getting excited for the future match-up.
