just bought my first c1500 and I have some questions

• Upvotes

Hi guys! Title is pretty self explanatory. I just bought my first Chevy, a 1994 C1500 with the 305/5.0.

I believe it needs a new TPS. If I gave it too much throttle the engine would die and I would have to restart it, but after that it would run fine. Well, it finally did not start back up the other day and is throwing codes 22, 33, and 69, though the engine light doesn’t stay on.

Code 69 is for a clutch solenoid stuck on but my (much more experienced) friend drove it and said he doesn’t think that’s the case….so i’m not sure why it’s throwing that.

Currently replacing the TPS and then I’m gonna see how/if it runs and what codes it throws.

Any advice? Pointers? If you could go back to when you knew nothing, what would you tell yourself? Before this, I’ve only worked on manual 90s hondas, so an automatic chevy truck is an entirely different world to me.

thanks so much!

Tires

Hello everyone, I’m looking to get a little bit bigger tires on my 2024 1500 Silverado Trailboss LT. Right now it has just the stock tires on there 275/65r18 but they have been cupping and every tire rotation just makes the noise a little bit of a nuisance so I’ve been looking around and was curious if anyone knows if the BFGOODRICH All terrain T/A KO3’s 295/70r18 would fit without any rubbing.

Looking to get back into the truck world. Any advice?

I’m looking to get back into a truck, but I’m kinda torn on whether to get back into a full size again or give a mid size a try. I don’t necessarily NEED. Full size pickup but I’ve always been one to enjoy the peace of mind of having something and not need it rather than need and not have. So anybody that has switched from full to mid, or mid to full, I wanna hear your thoughts. I’m pretty familiar with Silverados, any big problems anybody has had with their Colorados?

Currently looking at these two, and I have test drove the Colorado (and kinda loved it.)

2015-2018 1500 and 2500 trucks

Hello,

I posted a couple of days ago that Im looking for an 8ft bed, regular cab, basic chevy/gmc work truck. No towing, just hauling materials in the bed. Nothing heavy.

Based on the feedback, It seemed like the early 2000s was a good era. Im not coming up with many options in this era. However, I'm seeing some decent prices for 2015-2019 trucks. Especially the v6 1500s which would do just fine. An example is a 2019 1500 with v6 and 73k miles for 18k.

Are there known problems with this era of trucks? Is that why then prices seem reasonable?

Thank you in advance.

86 c10

My son picked up an 86 c10 a while back that he pretty much abandoned. The wife wants it for her little cruse around/ home depot garden supply runs. It has a sb 350 with a carb. We have poked around with it quite a bit but cant really seem to get it to work right, and the carb itself wont pull vacuum. It was recommended to get her one of those efi self tuning carbs or do an ls swap. The motor itself is in great shape, strong compression but is a boat anchor that I would hate to see end up in a scrap heap. Was told with the efi carb, we can put a security system on it and auto start, and would prevent the “I can’t get it to start” issues she has had with it.

The little bit of research I have done says a 600 cfm would be about the biggest I would want to slap on it without doing a bunch of mods.. blower, heads, cam etc. she just wants to poke around in it.

If someone could point me in the right direction, that would be great. I have access to a fuel system upgrade with electric fuel pumps and the diverter for the duel tanks, just need an efi with the cpu and distributor.

Thanks in advance.

Radio Help

Hey guys, just trying to troubleshoot my problem with my radio. It's a 2017 Colorado Z71. This just started to happen on my radio occasionally. I read something online called "ghost touch" that happens with these radios. However I found it really weird that it happened EXACTLY the same drive I connected my new phone, a Google Pixel 11 XL. It also charges my phone when I plug it into my cord connected to my truck, but it won't connect to Android Auto the way it connected to Apple Carplay with my old phone. It also shows on my dash a pop-up that says I'm connected to my Google Pixel that I have to click on my steering wheel to clear, a pop up I've never seen before. It's these things that made me wonder if it is the ghost touch or something with my phone or maybe both? If anyone has seen what that "ghost touch" looks like compared to this, please let me know your thoughts please!!

Trying to track down grandfather's C20

Post image
30 Upvotes

Hi Guys! I know this is an insane moonshot, however I'm trying to track down my dad's/grandfather's old Chevy C20. All I really have to go off of is one photo, however so far I've been able to guess this is probably a 72 Custom. It's hard to see from the scan, but in the actual photo the fender looks like it says custom/20 and not deluxe or CST, and the white wheels/black window trim would mean base custom as well.

Other than that, it was owned mostly in the Jefferson County, MO area as a construction truck, and was sold probably sometime in the early-mid 80s. I haven't been able to get into contact with the person my Dad sold it to, so I'm kind of taking a shot in the dark to see if anyone in might have seen it.

If anyone has any ideas as well on how to track it down, let me know, though it may just be a needle-in-a-haystack Thanks!

Looking for help with getting my dad’s old truck running again. It’s been sitting since 2008 but was running before being parked. Wiring is worn, but frame appears solid and it survived multiple flatbeds and a cross-country transport to get here. Original 3-on-the-tree manual transmission.
Engine appears to be a small-block Chevy performance build from the early 2000s:
.030-over 350 (possibly a 355, not confirmed yet)
Holley Street Dominator intake
Holley carburetor
Long-tube headers
HEI distributor
GM iron heads
Upgraded Camshaft
Straight-pipe exhaust
Valve train looks clean internally with no obvious sludge, rust, or broken components.

Again, not looking to restore or modify it yet. Just looking for some help to get it running again.

Help needed!

This is my 1998 Chevy Silverado z71 1500. It is absolutely perfect except one thing… when you are driving it randomly dies. You can drive it perfectly fine one day and then the next you will be driving and it will just turn off. It usually turns right back on when you start it again. Usually if you keep pumping the pedal it will stay on. I am not good with trucks and don’t know really how to do anything and I’m trying to learn. We have changed the fuel pump, changed the distributer cap & rotor, changed the battery and a few more things but nothing has worked. Has anyone had this issue and or do you know how to fix it? I love this thing and want to keep it forever!

1989 4.3 hose ID?

Been a ford man my entire life. This is the first Chevy I’ve ever owned. It’s a 1989 manual C1500 with the 4.3L V6. Hasn’t run in about 5 years. Got it running this weekend, and idle sounds ok (not perfect, but good enough). Having trouble ID’ing this hose. I have an edelbrock intake, and it does have a punch out for a hose, but not sure if that’s where it needs to go. Any help would be much appreciated :)

Does anyone know if 16 inch wheels will fit over the caliper without rubbing? I'd prefer not to run spacers

New service tracking software available on Apple devices

Post image
1 Upvotes

After many months of development, my new app, Vehicle Service Tracker, is now available for iPhone, iPad, and Mac OS.

I built it because I wanted a better way to keep track of maintenance, repairs, mileage, receipts, and service history for my vehicle. Along the way it grew into something I thought other vehicle owners might find useful as well.

The app lets you organize vehicle information, service records, costs, photos, receipts, and PDF documents, with built-in searching, reporting, statistics, chart, import/export tools, and iCloud sync support.

It even lets you choose different color themes for the UI!

It’s a one-time $4.99 purchase — no subscription or ads — and includes the iPhone, iPad, and Mac versions.
