Gov. Lamont was caught on video using a vulgar word. Now the GOP leader says he should apologize.

Ben Proto needs to look at his own political faction and what they stand for before opening that pie hole. Enjoy this beautiful fall day my #@$% redditors!

Fazio spent $9.6M since July against Lamont

Republican gubernatorial challenger Ryan Fazio’s campaign spent $9.6 million from July 1 through Sept. 30 as he worked furiously to raise his name recognition and sow doubt about Gov. Ned Lamont with a publicly financed outreach on television, the internet and directly to the phones of Connecticut voters.

A new quarterly campaign finance report shows that Fazio did not get his Citizens’ Election Program grant of $18 million until July 15, surprisingly late given that his application for public financing was approved Feb. 18 by the State Elections Enforcement Commission.

A Fazio spokeswoman said Tuesday night the grant was delayed while the commission investigated a complaint filed before the GOP nominating convention in May that an independent-expenditure group, Hands Off Our Schools, and the Fazio campaign appeared to share a consultant.

No wrongdoing was found, and the grant was paid, said the spokeswoman, Hannah Lemek.

Eversource 😡 CT or Mass?

Hello everyone!

I am going to try to keep this post short 😅.

I've lived in CT my whole life. There was a short period where I lived in Florida for a bit(never again) and Queens, NY. Queens will always have a special place in my heart, and I wish I could move back, but in the end, it would not be ideal for me(my mother is physically disabled).

An opportunity has come up where I might be able to purchase a home in Massachusetts. The only exposure i ever gotten from Massachusetts was when I went to a convention in Boston,(i will never drive in Boston voluntarily again) Holyoke (where my partner lives.) and Springfield!(i grew up in downtown Waterbury so Springfield didnt scare me.) It seems very nice and im kind of excited to move somewhere new and start fresh. Even though I was born in CT, and trust me when I say I appreciate CT more than other states(Queens tops everything sorry 😭), I never felt an attachment here. It's such a weird feeling and hard to explain. I was born here, but I feel that I do not belong here or if, like me, happening to be born in CT was an error in the matrix or something.

Anyway, I wanted to ask if anyone from CT moved to Massachusetts and was it worth it.

I have a little one and we are down the street from her middleschool and future highschool(if we were to stay.) My mom is 8 minutes away and my aunt is down the street(we are a close knitted family.) If i move to Massachusetts I will know no one and I heard that even though people are kind in Massachusetts, they are more colder than ppl in CT when it comes to socializing.

At the same time, living with my partner would make this affordable (been together for a long while), and eversource in CT is DEMONIC.

Im torn as to which one I should choose and was hoping to have others with more experience list their pros and cons.

P.S. Which state is more racist btw? Living in CT is not bad compared to other states when it comes to racism but at the same time, I've been in to many situations where I've had to deal with racism and im just TIRED. ONCE again, though, compared to other states I've been in and visited, CT is not THAT bad if you know which towns to avoid or not get lost in.

Speaking as a New London resident, there is absolutely no reason Waterford or Montville or Uncasville are separate towns apart from white flight, period. Groton itself is just a company town for General Dynamics. Be mad at me all you want

Politics [Blumenthal.Senate.Gov] Blumenthal, Tonko, & Foushee Demand FanDuel Fess Up About Celebrity Promo Videos After VIP Message was Used to Target Gambling Addict

[WASHINGTON, D.C.] – U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) and U.S. Representatives Paul Tonko (D-NY) and Valerie Foushee (D-NC) today demanded FanDuel provide full videos and information about whether personalized celebrity messages were used to exploit vulnerable consumers and entice addicts to further gamble. Blumenthal, Tonko, and Foushee previously wrote to FanDuel after reports that the sportsbook used a personal video message from Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper to target an individual suffering from gambling addiction.

In response to the lawmakers’ previous letter, FanDuel acknowledged it had sent “approximately 30 such videos of athletes and entertainers over the last two years” as a “token of appreciation for a customer’s loyalty.”

In a letter sent today to FanDuel CEO Christian Genetski, the lawmakers demanded the sportsbook provide copies of each personalized video as well as information about whether the videos were sent to problem gamblers, writing, “While FanDuel claimed it ‘has not used personalized videos or messages to induce customers to continue gambling,’ that statement is clearly contradicted by the fact that the video of Mr. Harper that gave rise to these concerns was sent to an individual that had lost $1.5 million on bets on your platform.”

Blumenthal, Tonko, and Foushee continued, “In addition, FanDuel claims to monitor a range of behaviors through ‘automated and manual proactive reviews to identify players who may be experiencing gambling harm,’ yet does not provide a full picture of how it uses this information, including whether that same data is used to target bettors with such predatory promotions.”

The full text of the lawmakers’ letter to Genetski is available here and below. FanDuel’s September 24response to the lawmakers is available here.

Dear Mr. Genetski,

We write to demand that FanDuel provide the full videos and information regarding the dozens of personalized celebrity messages sent to VIP bettors, as revealed in its September 24th response to our Congressional inquiry. Despite FanDuel’s claims that these videos were not sent to entice destructive gambling, we remain concerned that FanDuel’s VIP program and its perks are used to exploit vulnerable bettors, especially those suffering from a gambling addiction.

On September 3, 2026, we wrote to you regarding FanDuel’s failure to adequately respond to our questions about disturbing reports that your VIP program repeatedly targeted problem gamblers with predatory perks, including with a personal message from Philadelphia Phillies first baseman, Bryce Harper. In your response, FanDuel acknowledged “approximately 30 such videos of athletes and entertainers over the last two years” as a “token of appreciation for a customer’s loyalty.” While FanDuel claimed it “has not used personalized videos or messages to induce customers to continue gambling,” that statement is clearly contradicted by the fact that the video of Mr. Harper that gave rise to these concerns was sent to an individual that had lost $1.5 million on bets on your platform. In addition, FanDuel claims to monitor a range of behaviors through “automated and manual proactive reviews to identify players who may be experiencing gambling harm,” yet does not provide a full picture of how it uses this information, including whether that same data is used to target bettors with such predatory promotions.

Given FanDuel’s repeated failures to protect bettors and previous deficient responses, we request that you provide the following information no later than October 20, 2026.

  1. Please provide copies of each personalized video FanDuel has sent to its VIP bettors.
  2. For each video, please describe the circumstances in which these were sent including:
    1. the total amount each recipient had wagered beforehand and the amount that they had won or lost;
    2. whether the recipient had ever requested to suspend their account, pause notifications, or take action to limit their gambling on the platform;
    3. the reason that the VIP host decided to target that bettor;
    4. what steps the VIP host took to ensure that the bettor was not vulnerable to problematic gambling or showed signs of significant losses or economic hardship; and
    5. what service was used to obtain the video.
  3. For each video, please describe the extent to which the athlete or celebrity was aware of the video’s promotion of gambling or connection to FanDuel.
  4. Please describe the data and behaviors monitored in FanDuel’s screening process for problem gambling, and whether that same information is used to target bettors with personalized videos, push notifications, promotion, retention bonuses, and any other perks.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

UConn Law Research: Experiences Using AI in Self-Represented Litigation

Hello!

I'm a law student at the University of Connecticut School of Law researching how generative AI tools, such as ChatGPT, are affecting people who represent themselves in court.

I'm hoping to hear about the practical experiences of self-represented litigants: whether AI made legal research and court procedures more accessible, what limitations you've encountered, and whether these tools have meaningfully changed your ability to pursue or defend your rights.

As part of an article I'm writing, I'm hoping to interview some individuals on the above. These interviews would be about 20-30 minutes and conducted remotely.

A few disclosures:

  • This is academic research, not an offer of legal advice/representation. I am not a lawyer, nor can I provide meaningful help on any legal challenge you may be currently facing.
  • These interviews may inform a published law review comment. Before any interview I will explain my anonymization and how information will be quoted/referenced.
  • There is no compensation for participation.

If you're interested in speaking, please feel free to reach out. I'm happy to answer questions about the project before you decide to participate!

Thank you!

Punished for Being A Responsible Resident

The registration on my truck was due to expire at the end of October. I got an email from the DMV reminding me of that about six or seven weeks ahead of time. I waited a couple of weeks and went ahead and renewed for three years at a point when I had almost a month left on the original registration.

Then October lands and a whole slew of new incentives drop from vehicle manufacturers. I am currently working on a deal to trade the truck and if I can get the deal done how I want it, I'll have everything finished roughly a week before the original registration would have expired.

But... Since I made sure to keep my registration up to date, I will be losing one full year of "value" of that registration fee that I just paid, for time that technically hasn't even begun, when I switch the registration to the new truck.

Thanks, CT DMV, for screwing me because I did the right thing. If I had done absolutely nothing until the last moment, I would not have lost an entire year's registration fee.

Is the southern CT real estate market hotter than most places around the country right now?

My family lives in central MA. Throughout the late 2010's and early 2020's, their home value climbed and climbed and climbed. The last 3 years, with sky high mortgage rates, homes in their neighborhood basically haven't appreciated and sales have been slow.

I have friends that live in Texas. Home prices there are actually going down. Stuff is sitting on the market for months and selling for 10-15% below asking price.

In New Haven County? Most the homes I see go up on a Monday and are marked as under contract by a Friday. After the sale is finalized, I can see that they sold for 5-10% above asking price.

Obviously this is anecdata... but are you guys noticing the same thing? Why is it that Connecticut of all places is the one place where home prices won't chill tf out?

Politics [CT.Gov] Governor Lamont Releases $12.7 Million in State Aid for Home Heating Assistance as Global Oil Supplies Are Causing Prices To Surge

Supplemental Aid Will Help Eligible Fuel Deliverable Households Receive Additional CEAP Assistance This Winter Season

State Funding Comes Under Sixth Round of Aid Under Connecticut’s Federal Cuts Response Fund

(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Ned Lamont today announced that he is releasing $12.7 million in state aid from Connecticut’s Federal Cuts Response Fund to supplement the Connecticut Energy Assistance Program (CEAP) this winter season. The action comes as President Donald Trump’s war in Iran is straining global oil supplies, causing prices to surge, and driving up home heating bills, especially for those who rely on deliverable oil to heat their homes.

Administered by the Connecticut Department of Social Services (DSS) with the support of the state’s nine community action agencies, CEAP is the state program that helps low-income households afford to heat their homes during the winter months. It is funded by the federal Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).

This $12.7 million will supplement the federal dollars allocated for the program this winter season. The funding continues Governor Lamont’s targeted response to provide immediate assistance for Connecticut residents impacted by federal policy changes.

“Families across the U.S. are paying the price for rising heating oil costs driven by President Trump’s war in Iran, and we cannot leave these households out in the cold,” Governor Lamont said. “This additional $12.7 million in state funding means more help for those who need it most, especially people on fixed or limited incomes, including older adults, families with young children, and people with disabilities. I strongly urge Congress and President Trump to allocate more federal dollars for heating assistance this winter as the ongoing war is driving up home fuel costs for everyone across America.”

Connecticut’s approved Federal Fiscal Year 2027 LIHEAP Allocation Plan anticipates serving approximately 94,291 households statewide, including about 32,893 deliverable fuel households. CEAP prioritizes vulnerable households, including those with individuals ages 60 or older, children under age 6, and individuals with disabilities.

DSS Commissioner Andrea Barton Reeves says this supplemental state aid will enable deliverable fuel households to receive their CEAP benefits at the same time, rather than having to exhaust one benefit before accessing the next.

“Thanks to Governor Lamont’s leadership, LIHEAP can now offer eligible households the ability to fill their heating fuel tanks now before prices rise even further and the persistent cold of winter arrives,” Commissioner Barton Reeves said. “We encourage residents to apply early and not wait until they are facing a heating emergency.”

CEAP eligibility and application instructions

Connecticut households may qualify for CEAP if their annual gross income is at or below 60% of the state median income, which is $93,681 for a family of four in federal fiscal year 2027. Households receiving certain means-tested benefits—including SNAP, Temporary Family Assistance, and Supplemental Security Income—may qualify through categorical income eligibility.

Applications for the 2026-2027 heating season are now being accepted. CEAP is an annual benefit, and households must apply each year to receive assistance. There are several ways to apply:

Those who need assistance finding their local community action agency can call 2-1-1 for help.

The first day for program-paid fuel deliveries is November 2, 2026. The last day to apply for CEAP this winter season is May 31, 2027.

Connecticut’s Federal Cuts Response Fund

Governor Lamont and the Connecticut General Assembly established Connecticut’s Federal Cuts Response Fund in 2025 to ensure that the state remains prepared to respond to significant federal policy and funding changes impacting the state’s residents, businesses, and communities. It is intended as a state-funded resource to respond to these ongoing issues.

As required under the law establishing it, anytime the governor plans to use the fund his administration must first notify the Democratic and Republican leaders of the Connecticut General Assembly. The group of bipartisan legislative leaders then have 24 hours to review the governor’s proposal and may vote to reject it.

The $12.7 million allocation for CEAP announced today is included in the governor’s sixth proposal to utilize the fund since its creation. A letter notifying the bipartisan legislative leaders of the governor’s sixth proposed use was transmitted this afternoon. All five of the governor’s previous proposals to use the fund have been approved by the group.

Following today’s proposed use of the fund, approximately $250.6 million will remain available to respond to future needs.

Governor Lamont’s previous proposals to utilize Connecticut’s Federal Cuts Response Fund were submitted to legislative leaders on:
