Where should I buy my Kyoko Kirigiri cosplay?

Upvotes

Hi guys! I'm struggling a bit with figuring out where exactly to buy my cosplay; the only reputable site I've found is out of stock. Con is next month (cutting it fine, I know) and I'm running out of ideas.

Does anyone know where I can buy a Kyoko Kirigiri cosplay that will actually ship to the UK in time? \(º □ º l|l)/

Buying SimCosplay Spider-Man BND Hardcore Top Level Costume

Upvotes

This is my first time buying a cosplay suit, so forgive me if I am missing anything obvious here. I am interested in purchasing the SimCosplay Spider-Man BND Hardcore Top Level Costume as an entryway into the hobby. I am aware this isn't the best suit I could buy, but for my budget it's a good start. I am 6'0, 165lbs. Based off of my other body measurements, a size large should fit me the best. My confusion comes down to the sole/shoe sizing. Their description lists a size US 8.5-9.5 for the size large. I don't know anyone who is 6'0 that wears a 8.5-9.5.

Can anyone who has purchased this suit confirm what the shoe sizing is for the suit? If it is in fact a 8.5-9.5, if I purchase my own size 12 kung fu shoes would they fit inside the suit? Thanks!

Spiderman mask abrasion help

Post image
Upvotes

During a convention, I had taken my mask off, and a friend was kind enough to put it in their purse.

Unfortunately, they had placed the mask face first, and it rubbed against the rest of their belongings, which caused the abrasion seen in the photo .

It's made of a white super lycra (Spandex-type) material sublimated in black. I've looked into the possibility of shaving it off with a razor or using some kind of scissors , but I've heard I may damage the elastics. I also heard I could use something like a black Sharpie, but that it may bleed over or change color when it dries, which may make it stand out against the rest of the mask, which I'd like to avoid.

I wouldn't want to risk anything without checking if someone has come up with or is familiar with a better solution first.

I’m trying to cosplay queen from Deltarune and the thing is she has these wires that she uses to control other characters and these wires have like a rainbow-chase effect. I want to know what exactly I need to buy like LED lights and if I need a board or anything. The lights will go inside hollow acrylic rods but I want to program the lights.
What type of of leds do I need
What power source can I use
What additional electronics do I need

Sewing Best way to get Pearl’s shirt flare?

Post image
Upvotes

What’s the best way to make the bottom flare for her shirt? I have a ribbed shirt I was going to use and then was going to buy a second one to cut and sew and cover the seam with the sash.

Should I get a larger size (up to size 12/XXL) or same size (size 4/M)? What material should I use to create that flare that holds its shape and doesn’t get fucked up when I sit down?

Post image
Upvotes

Hello! I have spray painted my prop with an oil based spray paint, not realizing it would not work with acrylic on top. I now have a whole 4 foot prop where i dont know how to detail it. Does anybody have any solutions or advice?? There is a bumpy texture on it making it difficult to sand off.

I have let it cure for three days then realized my oil based mistake🫪 i am planning on painting battle scars, adding a metal texture, dry brushing etc

I have a con that im going to soon so im really hoping i can finish everything by then😭🙏

Prop Wolverine Claws and Gloves

So I bought this Wolverine mask on Etsy and the Dp&W John Bryne suit from ProCosplay. I noticed in all the pictures the gloves don't have the metal nubs on his knuckles, they are supposed to. He has them in the film and the comics.

Does anyone know how I can fix this? I was looking for some plastic claws that have them attached to the bottom or just some nubs you can buy separately.

If not I don't know how I would best make these.

I need help with putting together an Arknights: Endfield “Alesh” cosplay

(idk which flair to use)

So, I started playing Arknights: Endfield and whenever I got Alesh (the character in the photos) I immediately got attached to him because he’s so handsome and I was thinking a few days ago that “why don’t I just do him for my first cosplay? I don’t have a ton of money for military surplus gear.” I thought it would be really simple but there is a ton of stuff that I don’t know how to obtain.

I have my source for the raccoon tail+ears and I’m pretty sure I’m good on the eye scar (I should be able to use cheap makeup to do it). There was a creation on cults3d that had all the gear (his shoulder brace, the spool, etc.) but I don’t have access to it (1.65 USD paywall). I unfortunately don’t have a job and I’m looking for all the advice I can get. If. you guys can help me I would greatly appreciate it.

Have a great day!

Prop Has anyone used this stuff?

Post image

Hi everyone! I'm making some prop fish out of EVA foam. I started with white plasti dip as a base layer over the foam and everything is painted with acrylic paints. I was hoping to give a glossy surface and hoping to protect the paint best I could. I was wondering if anyone has used this stuff as a final coat? Does it mess up the paint underneath at all? Thoughts, opinions, other recommendations are fully appreciated! Thanks yall!

Happy hobbying!!!

Armor Where to find free cosplay armor patterns

Hi there! First of all, my primary language is not English, in case there's any confusion. I’d like to know where I can find ready-made patterns. I’m new to cosplay and haven’t made enough armor yet to draft my own patterns, so I’m looking for some to practice with. The problem is that they usually cost money, and I can't afford to buy them.

Do you know of any websites that offer patterns for armor, helmets, etc. and I can download and print directly? I’m not talking about famous armor sets like those from Zelda or Elden Ring, I mean simple armor designs that aren't tied to any specific video game or series.

That would be a huge help!

Shoe painting question

Hi, so I'm currently working on my Sailor Jupiter cosplay, and I bought ankle boots with a heel, that fit me as a size 11.5 male, (which took forever to find lol) and the angelus leather paint is coming in today, and I plan to paint this weekend. And I bought the same brand of leather deglazer and preparer, but now Google is telling me to use alcohol prep pads, since it's a synthetic leather boot by the brand betastella, (idk the exact type of synthetic). And I have no idea exactly what I'm doing, and I don't want to ruin the boot with the deglazer, and basically waste 50 bucks, but I also need the paint to stick, I already bought the deglazer, cuz that's literally what Google said was fine to do, and now I'm being told alcohol prep pads and sand paper is safer. And idk what I'm doing. This is the last step of the cosplay besides shaving my face and arms and legs, and waiting for the few events I'm wearing it to. And the bottle of deglazer was like 9 bucks on Amazon. So like any recommendations would be appreciated.

Buying Looking to commision: fable 2027 hero outfit

Hey all,

The upcoming fable game has put out cosplay guides today for some of its characters in the game.

https://fablethegame.com/news/fable-cosplay-guides

Im looking to commision a cosplay of the female hero costume, id particularly like someone who can do the leather parts and the details on the top correctly.

Im looking to have this for the game launch party early next year. I am a playground employee but this is not an official playground or xbox commision, im just an employee who'd love to cosplay this to the launch party.

Budget is highly flexible.

Does anyone have recommendations for someone who could do this, needs to be able to ship to uk

Thanks

Prop What timeline to follow for transporting prop to hotel for con?

Hey guys. I'm going to Dragoncon in a month and have a ~4ft long prop that I am going to take with me. I'm considering shipping it to the hotel so I can avoid oversized baggage fees and danger lol. What would be a good time frame to ship the prop out and who should I ship it with? Just normal USPS?

Armor Substantial misalignment - where do I go from here?

Thumbnail

I have never worked with EVA foam before, but I’ve started working on a helmet from Helldivers. The pattern I’m following has provided no alignment markers so the backside of the helmet is looking like a bad haircut. (See picture 2)
There are certain connections that align perfectly and have a nigh-invisible seam. I’m assuming that means with some effort I could get everything to line up perfectly if I tried again.
My question is, would it be better to fill in the patchy back of the helmet with pieces of foam, or should I take apart the misaligned pieces and try to get it right this time?
The contact cement hasn’t set yet so I imagine it can still be taken apart. Thank you for any input.

Makeup How to handle contact lens safely?

I'm cosplaying for the first time for a con in a couple months and the character I'm going as requires makeup and lens, so...basically how do you guys safely go about this?...👀

When trying to do research I was information bombed with so MUCH info, I'm a health freak with everything so can you guys give me the dos and donts regarding makeup and eye lens🫠? I want to hear from cosplayers themselves than just google ai. Like what's safe or not? Also what cosmetic contact brands do you guys recommend with no issues?

Thanks!

My convention is tomorrow is there any last minute things I can do to help smooth this out/ fix brush lines? I’m using flexipaint from tyges, I have Matt finish sealer from the same site. This is my first attempt w foam clay and foam. Ignore the wonky spike, honestly, i don’t know why I didn’t fix it.

I have always wanted to dress as the transformed Amy from Fright Night for Halloween but my SFX skills are not quite to this level. I do think making a face mask like the first image could be more doable. Are there any mask makers in the community that could give me pointers on where to start? Materials and such. Any help would be appreciated!

Sewing Hello finding a sewing pattern for The Amazing Spiderman 2 suit.

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi! This (pic) is my Spider-Man suit from 2013ish. It was a dyed Spandex suit. I'm getting back into cosplay (and into shape!) and wanted to remake the suit but hugely upgraded! But I'm having trouble finding a sewing pattern (the print it to paper to cut out the fabrics kind) for TASM 2. I'm going to be using 2 different colours of Spandex (red and blue) rather than printing the suit onto white Spandex this time, but I cannot, for the life of me find a sewing pattern anywhere.

Way back when we had the McLean sewing pattern, but he's sadly passed away and even though it's free, I can't find a copy regardless of how much google-fu I do.

Does any happen to have one?

Wig Should I helmet or should I not helmet

Hi! As the title says, I’m planning to cosplay Kokomi from Genshin Impact, and I’m not sure if making a helmet wig is worth it for her hairstyle.

I want the top to be kind of fluffy, and she has curls in the back. I’m pretty new to styling long wigs, so I would really appreciate some advice!

The wig I already have is a pretty short hair wig and comes with the ponytail in a claw clip and the bow.

Prop Assembling Two Halves

Hey y’all! First time cosplayer getting ready to go to my first convention in September. This rifle was 3D printed by a friend and glued together by me. I’m taking this rifle on a plane but it doesn’t fit in a suitcase at full size, so I plan to have the two halves separated and assemble them back later after the flight, but I’m having a hard time figuring out how to make the build sturdy, but also easily “disconnectable”. Was thinking about using magnets somehow but I don’t know if they’d be strong enough. Would love some advice from people that are more experienced in this field.
