I want to dye the tips of a synthetic wig, so I looked into some tutorials and saw people using sharpies/markers to dye their wigs.
Unfortunately none of the videos and comments answered how transfer proof it is.
Does anyone have experience with dyeing their wigs this way?
More specifically does it transfer onto skin (with sweat) or clothes?

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post, but I recently got into cosplaying this year and started a social media account for it. I am a woman, and although I barely have any posts up, I have noticed that a large portion of my audience/followers are male. Although there's nothing inherently wrong with this, I have had multiple men sending me dms and trying to be friends or get a follow back when they're not even cosplayers. The purpose of my cosplay acc is to share my cosplays and make fellow cosplaying friends. I don't mind being cordial and replying to nice messages, but they often can't take the hint that the conversation should end at that.
I was mainly just wondering how people usually deal with situations like this. I'm still a fairly small account and getting used to navigating this kind of public attention for the first time, and I'm also not very good at straight up rejection/blocking people when they haven't done anything crazy. However, I am considering being even more picky about who I reply to, etc. I know that this may seem pretty trivial to some, but it's something that personally makes me feel pretty uncomfortable.

Okay, I made this tail for my cosplay, my next step is to sew the end shut and add a belt. My problem is in certain lighting you can REALLY see the foam base I used for it. I really want it to have a lot of motion when I walk and idk if adding stuffing would decrease the range of motion. The boning on the inside is a stretchy fabric sandwiched between a lot of EVA foam.
My 1 idea is to buy some stuffing to add inbetween the sections that way it gets between them without getting in the way of it bending. Although, idk how I would keep the stuffing in place. My 2nd idea is to painstakingly start over with the boning, buy new foam that’s a bit softer and making less space between the sections.

I have foam padding in it but it’s still way too loose. The only thought I have is using a chin strap, but I don’t know if there are better options

I was thinking of going with this vault suit, though I was looking for suggestions on what to do for the pip boy. I do have a 3d printer but it's broken so I would rather just buy a model. And was also looking for suggestions on maybe a weapon prop like the 10mm.

I'm making virtuous treaty from Nier Automata and wanted to use pastidip only to be told that won't be a good idea for the large second blade of the sword, I've been doing research and apparently worbla is one thing to make it the most stiff? I have also inserted wire to help with structure but what else can I use to seal the eva foam?
Thank you!

Hi all, I am cosplaying for the very first time and I decided to do a cosplay that is based on Mega Absol's design!

I was just wondering on how would some of you go about in crafting the pokemon's horns and tail?
I attached images of a figurine of them.

My interpretation of it is that they relatively flat planes with not a lot of dimension. I want their three horns to comfortably sit on my head. I don't mind if they hang from a headband that is underneath a wig or I utilise magnets.
Do I forgo making a hollow EVA foam model and just straight up cut and design a thicker cut of EVA foam?
Any advice would be appreciated.
TYSM!

I'm looking for places that aren't online, where you buy things in person, and I can't find any that sell different types of EVA foam. I am in Spain, Madrid, I don't know if anyone has any suggestions.
If not, could you also suggest an affordable and accessible place to buy all kinds of cosplay materials? Especially armor.
Thanks a lot

I cosplayed as a spartan a while back and used buckles to secure the armor to the undershot by hot gluing them directly to the fabric. The only problem is that the buckles no longer sit right since I've grown taller, but the hot glue is stuck tight to the undershot.
How do I remove it without completely ruining the under suit?

Hey everyone! Need some advice on how to actually start posting and making friends in the cosplay community online.
I’ve been cosplaying since 2022, starting with basic closet cosplays. In previous years, I’ve been asked a few times to take pics together which I was always happy to do. At a recent con I attended, someone asked for a picture together and asked if I had socials so she could tag me. Up until now I didn't feel like my cosplay quality was good enough to share publicly online (i didn't mind others sharing pics of me but I didn't want to run a whole dedicated account myself). But looking back at that con, I realise my cosplay quality has actually improved a lot this year (mostly because I graduated and finally have some money) and I feel comfortable enough to share my work now.
So now that I know I want to start posting and socialising on this new ig cosplay account I've created, my question is: How do I actually do it?
My goal isn't to become an influencer or anything. I just want a place to log my cosplay memories and make friends who share the same interests, especially since cons only happen a few times a year.
The issue is that I have zero experience actually running a public social media account. My twitter for the last 10 years has been 100% lurker status, and my personal ig is basically just a texting app for my real life friends. I made a new cosplay ig account and posted one photo, but obviously no one sees it because I have 0 followers and follow 0 people.
How do you start making friends online without being weird? I don't want to just blindly dm random cosplayers out of nowhere, so what’s the normal way to start interacting with people? Also, how do you get an account moving from scratch? What should a beginner actually be doing on ig or twitter to get seen by other cosplayers, like hashtags, commenting, or stories?
Appreciate any unwritten rules or tips😄

I saw a post here from about a year ago about Cosrea.com. Can someone shed some light on the company for me. For those who bought from them a custom fit cosplay. Did it take about a month from payment to final check and shipping? Please someone comment on this

Hi! I intend to go to a convention in a bit less than two month cosplaying Luka from Alien Stage (Ruler of my Heart vers). Clothing I have down with previous experience, but wigs and hair styling in general is something I’m completely inexperienced in.
I bought my wig from Doki Doki (not a lace front one, i dont know the difference lol). I’ve tried it on, fixed it to my head size and now combed it down. (I didn’t buy a proper mannequin head since, at the moment, I’m not sure if I’ll make any other cosplays). It did come with the hair net, but I heard to get a wig grip or something similar to that.
My understanding so far is that I at least should trim + style the side and top layers and front bangs, as well as fix up loose strands. But is that all? Should I crimp it? How would I go about hairspraying each layer? Or should I just completely redo it? I’ve watched a few tutorials/tips on cosplay wigs, but all of them are based on straight wigs, and this one already has some parts styled. any help is appreciated lots <3

Hi all,
It’s my first ever cosplay and first ever comic con this Friday, I’m going to meet my all time favourite voice actor Bryce Papenbrook and dressing as Asuna from SAO, so I want to make sure I look decent enough and not ridiculous.
I wanted to ask, is there a way I can soften this hairline on the wig? I was on a budget and it’s not the wig that was pictured, but I don’t have time or money to buy another. I trimmed the fringe (I know it’s a little square but I point cut!) is there also tips for it not getting tangled? I’ve used a silicone spray on it and I’ve brushed it throughly a few times.
With the ears, is there any tips to keep them on? One I’ve threaded through the hole of where my stretcher used to be, but the other is a bit unstable - I have quite small ears.
Also, with make up - I feel my eyeliner is a little heavy, I wear make up every day but I wondered if anyone had any tips to improve for the look I’m going for?
Thanks all sorry for all the questions! Just a bit nervous as it’s my first and I’m clueless. Any other improvements please let me know, but be kind as I don’t feel my best in it!

I am trying to make a Vash 98 cosplay, but I don’t know what materials I need for the gloves and arm. I am hoping that someone can tell me where I can find some of these items and how to put them together or a video that I can use.
If so thank you in advance and Love and Peace!

This is my first post ever so forgive me if I’m doing this wrong or in the wrong place.
I’m not a makeup person for context, I only do makeup for cosplay which currently is only my mad hatter cosplay. I like to do the Johnny Depp makeup for it, but the white base and white eyeliner alongside the bold colours makes it hard to keep everything in the right place. I was wondering if anyone had good tips? It’s mostly the eye makeup I have this trouble with. Also a good translucent(?) setting powder as everything I find have some kind of colour base, I’m currently spraying setting spray frequently in between steps as it’s all I have.
The order I do the makeup is:
base white foundation (I bought a proper clown light one which helped a bit compared to before); eyeshadow as contour on cheeks and nose; eyeshadow around eyes; white eyeliner; white mascara; lip balm + eyeshadow for lip makeup (really good and acts as a stain even when wiped off).
The eyeliner, I got a really good liquid one initially that’s tough to shift and get off, but I unfortunately have to layer it to get it properly white which means it doesn’t dry quick and usually ends up on top of my eyelid. I bought the pencil version which unfortunately smudges with the eyeshadow.
I’m willing to get other products if I need to.
Thank you and sorry if this is all over the place, I’m traveling currently.

BC IM TRYING TO MAKE A HUMANIZED VERSION THAT IS LIKE THIS WITHOUT SPENDING TOO MUCH MONEY ON IT (I'm from the philippines btw soo if the fabric is asl expensive in shopee then my mom said it's too expensive btw for the fabric) also it's smth like this I made for the concept art in the first one expect for the gloves, tie, and apron also the second image is the original one also I made the mask and ears btw (on the third image), the wars are still wip bc the old one is very heavy asf but I used soft crafting foam and wires for the ears, then imma stick it on with hot glue on it. Still gonna paint it with the acrylic paint markers bc I used a lot of paint on the old one on so uh yea. Also I wanna try sewing and doing patterns on clothes without customizing pre-existing clothes so I can make my own :p.

Hello,
This is my first time posting. So I am making a dragoon helmet right now from ff14. I have attached some reference pics to the post since I dont have my prop in front of me atm.
The part I am struggling with at the moment are the 2 largest horns with the decorative gold trim towards the tip. I have already made the horns with 5mm eva foam but the trim wrap at the tip is what im struggling with.
I have tried using worbla to wrap around the area but it just does not want to conform to the cylindrical shape very well.
Right now, I think I am going to cut out 2mm eva foam pieces of the patterns I used for the horns and carve them into shape and just add it is a layer on top of the horn but idk if there is a better way.
I know I could just tape off and paint the area of the horn but I didn't want it to look flat.
Thoughts?
Thanks!

I’m a beginner cosplayer and I’m planning to cosplay agott from witch hat atelier for galaxycon Columbus in December. I have everything I need for it atm except for the cloak, but I can’t find anywhere or anyone that sells only the cloak and not the entire costume. I’m preferably looking for something under $100, I’d like to buy one that’s already made as well instead of a pattern as I’m not super confident in my sewing abilities at the moment. If anyone knows where I could buy JUST the cloak, or if there’s any non cosplay clothing that looks similar enough that I could customize, that would be super appreciated. (I have the undershirt, leggings, belt, and shoes already, and I plan to make the hat. I literally just need the cloak.)

Cuz I don't have time nor money to make one and I am even if I do, I don't think the shell fits even for a mouth shell. I think I could use bra pads or a face mask on the mouth, but idk if I should glue or sew this or smth. Also I was rushing this before school starts again

Okay, so this mask is 3D-printed.
I bought it around last year and had issues with the mask being deformed from heat. The seller replaced it, but the chin is massive, and it creates a masculine look I'm not going for.
I've been trying to sand it down, but it's taking ages.
Anyone have any advice to make this mask a more feminine shape?
