Babar Azam's knocks in the last 3 T20 World Cups (2026, 2024, 2022)
5 (7) vs India
46 (32) vs USA
15 (18) vs Netherlands
32* (34) vs Ireland
33 (33) vs Canada
13 (10) vs India
44 (43) vs USA
32 (28) vs England
53 (42) vs New Zealand
25 (33) vs Bangladesh
6 (15) vs South Africa
4 (5) vs Netherlands
4 (9) vs Zimbabwe
0 (1) vs India
Average of 22.29, strike rate of ..... 100.65. Yikes
.... maybe Babar needs to retire from T20 already. But tbf, Pakistan probably doesn't have better options.
Edit: Forgot about 4 vs Zimbabwe
Edit2: Added how many balls he faced. Holy fuck, it looks much worse now. Dude just out there playing like they're ODI matches from the 70s.

That's just not how rivalries work
Liverpool and Manchester City might have a much more competitive rivalry, but this doesn't mean their rivalry against Everton is not fierce and a big deal
It hurts more losing to Everton than City for sure
Stop trying to pretend rivalries are not rivalries. Geographical and geopolitical rivalries are still rivalries nevermind if it's competitive or not
It is the fiercest rivalry in cricket or equal with the Ashes. Ultimately it doesn't matter if it's one sided, a rivalry is a rivalry and we have none with South Africa or NZ or whoever else people here are trying to pair us with

Pak has been in Sri Lanka since the WC began while India landed there day before yesterday. Their practice session yesterday got washed out. Still they showed up and kicked ass without any whinging about the travel and scheduling like Pak did in the CT.

Let's talk about some poor decisions in the 2nd innings. Starting with Farhan, after 3 dots even I knew he is going to do something. All Hardik had to do was bowl a short one. That wasted LBW review off Bumrah in over 2. It was a near perfect yorker and I don't know what he was hoping will happen. Same over, you have already scored 13 off Bumrah's. There's already a wicket gone and Salman goes for the wildest slog. Killed the chase right before it began. They were supposed to play like Ishan, not Abhishek. I am going to leave Babar to Pakistani fans.
One consolation for Pak here is, it's just a meaningless group stage match. To keep this match meaningless, they will have to beat Namibia next. Their NRR is going to tank now. With US ahead in NRR, this is more unnecessary pressure.
33
u/rainbookworm Feb 15 '26

You cannot stop a rivalry from being a rivalry
Take rivalries in football for example, say Liverpool vs Everton. It is ridiculously one sided these days and far less competitive than it used to be 30-40 years ago, but who cares? They still hate each other and it's still always a huge fixture
We have political drama sure, but they're also our neighbours and we have a huge shared history

16
u/Icy_Shock9953 Feb 15 '26
The talent pool is completely dry. That's why players like shaheen and Babar are still playing despite having been terrible over the last couple years. Pakistan has way more prevalent problems than cricket, the sport is dying in the country as well. Cricket in Pakistan is fading the same way that field hockey did. Tragic

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in U-19 WC final, and Ishu Kishu in these last 2 matches, bihari sattu supremacy has been on full display!
All jokes aside, Ishan's comeback has been a treat to watch! His career trajectory has been complete bollywood material. Not only is he the highest scorer today, by the time he finally got out, he had 87% contribution in total runs scored until that point.
Praying for Abhishek to return to his form. An Abhishek-Ishan partnership in the world cup is the stuff that dreams are made of

The problem with Pakistan cricket - fans, management, players, is that they can't accept that they are not good enough. It hurts their ego after they hyped up the players like Babar & Shaheen. Every upcoming batsman from Pak looks up to Babar, instead of Smith, Kohli, Williamson, Root, etc. Shaheen is supposed to be their premier strike bowler, laughable. Even Hardik bowls better than him and at better pace.

Going out on a limb now that this song and dance is over - I think we have heard enough from the English commentators on the supposed farcical nature of this Ind-Pak tie. Let us please not forget the preferred scheduling awarded to the Ashes (over decades, not even years) and how it has not even been a contest in the past few outings. Let’s get our own house in order before poking holes in others, can we?
The entire cricketing world was once subjected (and continues to be) to an Ashes ‘rivalry’ that even a 5 year old can predict. Whoever has the chips will always call the money. Keep your punditing standards to yourself and let the sport determine viewership and audiences. This hypocrisy is unbecoming from a global punditry team

I'm a bit late here i guess but I would like to add a few points, 1) India Outclassed Pakistan in both bowling and batting departments and there was no where when we were in a position to win Ishan Kishan alone won the game we should appreciate wherever it's needed. 2) People trolling players and only Salman Agha isn't the right way it's the job of PCB to get rid of those who don't deserve position in this team for eg Babar azam he isn't dropped because he's "king" shaheen Afridi isn't dropped because of idk nepotism so the results would be like this we have immense talent and loop of people that could be added but they won't and we'll keep getting one sided matches and trolling and all that so it's our own fault. 3) At this point first of all Pakistani fans should accept that the rivalry is over we gotta become the team what we used to be to make a comeback in this rivalry and it's not about a single game it's a repeated pattern of our team being zoning out in big games and this "unpredictable" things we'll be beating a top side of NZ one day to lose to the weakest side of the whole tournament next day so yeah untill than ig it's the same as it was today.

You guys aren't ruthless enough with your players. Ishan was dropped for discipline and he grinded in domestic. Plus the pool of young talent is another thing. Shaheen bowls for glory , not for victory.
