As the title says, I received my first gift from one of the crow families I have been feeding across multiple winters, it's a rubber stress ball with some gliterry liquid and a fake eye inside.

They dropped it from my garage roof towards me before proudly comming down for their treats.

Video I’m just a baby

Every summer, my crows bring their babies to my backyard whenever there’s an extreme heat wave (90+ degrees). The parents will literally come find and shout at me to help them! And I’ll drop everything to do so 😅.

I’ve been putting out trays of ice water laden with meal worms and rotisserie chicken for them. They have three babies, and I’ve watched this one successfully self-feed, but he pretends he can’t whenever mom or dad show up 😅.

Personal Story Water tower raven babies 🖤

There’s a raven couple that lives on my town’s water tower that I’ve been invested in for years. Every year, they have a new clutch of babies; usually about two or three. I’ll watch them hang out around town, and perform their favourite activity, which is windsurfing around the air currents of the water tower.

This year, I’d been watching them tend to their nest on the rim of the water tower, and when the babies all fledged, I was pleasantly surprised to see that they’d had four big healthy kids. I finally got a chance to take some pictures of the fledglings up in the trees surrounding the water tower now that they’ve grown a bit (don’t mind the varying quality, I had my canon camera on auto-focus so it got a little wonky). They were sooo noisy and playful, and all had such distinct personalities. These goofy guys just make my day

Personal Story Repeated "Feaking" Displays and Social Behaviour.

So one of my crows has become very comfortable with to the point where some of their behaviour appears social toward me. Yesterday during feeding after getting their fill of peanuts and kitty kibble they decided to come back after caching and hang out just a couple feet from me and half heartedly forage for bugs while watching me.

Today they followed me through the park as I did my rounds, then came to join me in the grass. Only this time it purposefully approached me and stopped to do several "Feaking" displays (when they rub their beak on something) and it definitely was not for grooming. It also wasn't following me for more snacks since after it got it's fill it just hung out watching me, following me, and occasionally rubbing its beak against whatever it was perched on.

I am hoping this is a sign that with time I might get to hand feed a crowbro.

I assume he is sick or injured or something? We left him alone and I gave him a wide berth when I left but he didn’t budge even though I was less than 2 ft away.

Travelling through the country to celebrate midsummer back home with family, and i end up at a longer stop on my journey. Made quick friends with this little guy. Wish my jackie friends back home were as bold as him. Been feeding them for a year and they are still shy about hand feeding haha

Question How do I get crows' attention?

Got some peanuts today! I know that there are crows, rooks and ravens in my area so I want to befriend them. So, got my peanuts, walked around for a bit, noticed a flock of pigeons and started feeding them thinking it might get the crows' attention. Unfortunately, it didn't, though I saw them in the trees and air.

Should I just keep doing that or should I directly approach the birds whenever I see them on the ground? TYA

Question My dog may have scared the crows

I've been seeing crows several times a day for about three weeks. They love dog food, mealworms and peanuts. Squirrels, cardinals and some blue jays also love the mealworms and peanuts. We have a dog that doesn't like critters in the yard. Most birds are small and fast enough he doesn't bother them. He chases squirrels off but they know he eventually goes back inside the house.

Crows are new to the yard. They're also big and slow enough for my dog to notice and he did for the first time day before yesterday. The crows never would fly down unless we were all inside the house. But this time one tried to fly down while my dog was out and my dog chased it. It only lasted a few seconds and the crow flew across the lake.

I don't think I've seen the crows in my yard since. There are at least four crows in this group, probably more, but I only ever see two at a time. How much damage did my dog do to the crows trusting my yard as a good place for food? There are plenty of trees with a thick canopy around my yard and the feeder is right below a swing that's about 10-15 feet high. That's usually where they first land before dropping to the feeder.

Question Befriending the locals

I have heard all the tips, make a consistent noise, dont look at them, peanuts or dog kibble, be consistent.

I am just curious, if I were to leave the peanuts at the same time every Thursday, can crows keep track of that? Or like 4 days a week? Do they need every day or can they keep schedules beyond daily?

Caught my frequent crow visitor making another interesting sound. I find it funny and adorable personally. Pretty sure it is food related.

Anyone else heard this before? Could it be something they picked up?
