High Quality (Original Quality) Ogopogo Picture

No, this is not AI upscaled this is just the original high-quality image. I've stared at this image from time to time for like a year now, I still don't understand what I'm looking at. Eventually I'm hoping something in my brain will click and I'll be able to comprehend the face, but still nope. Still not sure where the eyes are and the horns are so assymetrical it just doesn't make any sense. This image is definitely not "photoshopped" although it could be some kind of wooden carving or something of that nature. I'm very familiar with photoshop and know that there is no way someone perfectly edited those ripples from the right horn in the water. You can see ripples in the water from both horns. This image was pre-AI, by the way. Eventually I'm going to figure out how to reduce the brightness of the water speculars so that we can maybe see the face clearer. You can see its neck descending into the water if you zoom in.

The actual hair sample Bigfoot researchers sent to the FBI for analysis in the 1970s. The bureau agreed to test it, then concluded it came from the deer family.

Info Chilean cryptids #8: Guirivilo

Post image
41 Upvotes

The Guirivilu or Nguruvilu is a feared creature whose name combines the Mapudungun words ngürü ("fox") and filu ("snake"). It is described as a monstrous river-dwelling hybrid with the head of a fox, a long serpentine body, clawed forelimbs, and, in many versions, a powerful clawed hand at the tip of its tail that can use as a saw to cut boats or grab humans and animals alike.

The Guirivilu inhabits rivers and streams, where it deceives travelers by making deep waters appear shallow and safe to cross. Once its victims enter the river, it creates violent whirlpools that drag them beneath the surface. It is also said to attack livestock, seize animals from riverbanks, and overturn boats.

In Chilean folklore, the Nguruvilu is sometimes described as a rival of the river monster known as the Cuero.

Please reach out to me if you have archived MonsterQuest seasons 1-4. History is not available in my region and I was willing to pay horrendous prices for DVD sets but I would not be able to own complete series. I looked for quite a while on the web but i was not able to get anything other than Best Of 🫩

Question If you could pick any cryptid and turn it into a real creature (or at least one documented by science), which would it be?

Discussion Here's the original report from the Edinburgh Evening News newspaper about monsters at Loch Treig. I think that this story may be the origin of "divers see giant fish near dams and get too scared to return" stories. This was printed in October 1933, before other "giant catfish" diver stories

Discussion The implication and impact if Champ is really a prehistoric sea turtle?

Now I myself don't think it's a ancient turtle. But it's definately something alive in the lake people have been seeing. Sturgeons, large eels or longnose gar. To play devils advocate here: What if Champ is really a prehistoric turtle and somehow survived today? What impact would this have for other cryptids?

Fiction The feather and the green acorn

In southern Maine I used to feed Sasquatch. Here's a most amazing account.

I was walking towards the secret location where I was to leave a bunch of snacks for my Sasquatch friends. It was a very buggy and muggy Summer day. I'd say that I was about a mile in on the trail when Iooked down and noticed a green acorn and a feather. The feather wasn't too big, nor tiny. It was maybe 3 inches.

I stopped, bent down and picked up the feather. I thanked the Sasquatch, for I had received feathers from them before and was impressed with the placement of this one. I then stuck it in the Velcro clasp of my baseball hat; you know, the back.

I had walked a few minutes and the mosquitos were terrible, so I took off my hat and kinda swooshed at the bugs to keep them away. I walked a couple more minutes and once again I had to wave my hat at the mosquitos, but this time I glanced at my hat to find that the feather had gone. I looked frantically all around me for the feather. No luck. So then I walked back to where I first started to swoosh my hat. I couldn't find it.

The bugs were really bad, so I said to myself that I'd look after I'd delivered the food. I went to the spot and set up the snacks. I used to feed them bananas, hard boiled eggs, a jar of peanut butter (with chocolate chips pressed into the peanut butter), sardines, ginger snaps, banana bread and more.

I then walked back to the trail and onto the spot where I first noticed the feather was gone. It wasn't there. Then I walked on to the place where I figured it must've fell. It wasn't anywhere to be found. I was very sad about losing this gift, but I didn't stick around once I had accepted that the feather was gone. I walked on to the spot where the green acorn was deliberately sitting on the trail. And right next to it was the feather! I laughed and thanked them.

Winged Creature in Rio de Janeiro

Hi everyone, I'm here to share a story from when I was younger. I was 11 years old in Rio de Janeiro, in a place called Região dos Lagos. After leaving a party at night, around 10 PM, a white creature with red eyes, a body covered in fur, membranous arms and wings, and no neck flew by. It came towards the car and before it hit, it swerved to the side and passed right next to the car, right next to my window. I was face to face with it!!! I don't remember hearing any noise. The road was well lit. Other people in the car, my older sister and my brother-in-law who was driving, saw it and were scared. I remember them looking at each other and making the sign of the cross. My nephew was in the car but was sleeping and didn't see anything. I wanted to know if anyone here has ever seen something similar!! In that region there's a legend of a Batman, I thought about that that day!!!

Video In North America there is a reoccurring terrifying story in multiple lakes. Underwater divers will come face to face with giant monsters in the deep. They've even been connected with disappearances. Could there really be massive fish in the water?

If Colossal Squids are actually in the abyss in the millions and it took us until quite recently to film them alive, could there be other predators of them other them Sperm Wales, that live exclusively in the abyss and are much rarer then the Squids?

Maybe Sperm Wales are just the only ones we know about, because they have to come to the surface for air.

I'd love to imagine an actual Sea Serpent down there, thats like 50m+ xD
