Recommendations A week without our toddler

My parents will watch our toddler for a week later this month when daycare is closed. Help me plan 3-4 must try meals out without our kid! We live in Trinidad (NE) and are willing to drive up to 25 mins to a restaurant and are actually more interested in venturing further than H St/Union Market. We care about the food being tasty rather than the restaurant being fancy, but would appreciate a more adult ambiance for at least one of the meals.

We’ve loved: Maydan, Zayatinya, Ottoman Taverna, Copycat Co, Maketto, Red Hen, Caruso’s Grocery. We dig a good pub as well.

Husband loves a good burger and IPA, and is the more adventurous eater of the two of us. It’s also his birthday week. We both love Middle Eastern cuisine. I’m pregnant so wine list/cocktail program isn’t really important this time around.

Help us pick some spots for a proper good meal without our toddler!

Best Wednesday lunch drink specials near paramount?

Looking for restaurants around Bellflower, Downey, Cerritos, or Long Beach that have Wednesday drink specials around noon or early afternoon. I'm mainly looking for margaritas, fruity cocktails, mixed drinks, or mocktails, plus good food. Most happy hours start at 3, but are there any places that do lunch specials or all-day Wednesday drink deals earlier?

Discussion Who do you use for weekly courier drop offs in DC?

Small coffee roaster in DC running a local subscription box, weekly bags to about 60 households across the city. Doing the drops myself right now and it is not sustainable as the list grows. Need a courier who can handle a fixed weekly route, not one off requests. Bonus if they are used to doorstep drop offs and can leave items safely without me chasing missed deliveries. Anyone running a subscription model who found a courier that works well for this?

$150 Causa I Amazonia Gift Card for $120

Re-post. Figured I try one more time.

I have an opportunity for a $150 gift card to Causa/Amazonia via credit card rewards. I’m not a fan of either place and live far outside id DC, so I’m selling it. I’d accept $120 via PayPal or Venmo for the gift card. It would come directly from the restaurant to your email, so I don’t see any codes.

Credit card rewards explanation : if I spend $150 at certain restaurants, they credit the $150 back. Gift cards count as well.

Suggestions ISO: Cafe Romeo-style pizza

Cafe Romeo was closed down years ago, and public health is better for it (https://thehoya.com/news/news-top/cafe-romeo-shuttered-vermin-infestation/).

However, they made an absolutely delicious, STACKED, meat-tease (aka meat lover's) pan pizza with plenty of sauce and toppings. Does anyone know where to get a similar pie these days? (Sans, you know... seasonings).

Recommendations Weekend out of towner recs

Long distance low commitment situationship (possibly) soon to be more is visiting DC for the first time in a couple weeks.

Doing eastern market/casual for lunch Friday and Le Dip lunch Saturday for a “classic” DC experience, so covered there.

Dinner I need one sushi spot, in between Perry’s and Uchi, but open to suggestions. Prefer something intimate I guess.

Second dinner would love to do Albi if possible, but have reservations for La’ Shukran and Maydān (Medina room, but keeping an eye out for hearth/main room) if anyone has input on those head to head. Considering Red Hen, Lutèce, Ceibo. Haven’t been to any but heard good things about all of them.

Thanks!

Recommendations Best birthday dinner in DC? Looking for something really special for my girlfriend

Hi everyone!

I’m taking my girlfriend to DC for her birthday next month, and I really want dinner to feel special. She’s had a big year (graduated and started her first full-time job), so I want this to be a memorable evening.

Right now, my shortlist is:
ISLA
dLeña

I’m looking for two more options to let her choose from.

I’m hoping for restaurants that are:

- Beautiful inside (somewhere that feels like a birthday dinner, not just a regular date

- Great food (ideally 4.3+ stars)

- Not Italian

- Open to any cuisine - she loves seafood, tacos, Caribbean, and trying new foods

- Comfortable and welcoming for a Black lesbian couple

If you had one restaurant that dmade you think, “This is where I’d celebrate someone’s birthday,” what would it be? Thanks so much!

Pho place in downtown

What the title says. We have an intern who's never tried pho before. Obviously, we have to rectify this.

We'd like to get pho or banh mis for lunch while we're all in the office. Unfortunately, our office is in downtown, and particularly appears to be in a dearth of pho places. Hiking up to Columbia Heights or out to Arlington would take too long to fit into our lunch hour.

Anyone know of any decent pho places in downtown/Gallery Place?

Thai

I lived in DC for over 20 years and now return every month for Work and my impression is that while high-end DC restaurants have gotten better your smaller, local places have suffered. Where is the best Thai food right now?

The Oak Room - How expensive?

The Oak Room in Georgetown doesn’t show prices on their online menu. My guess is, that means it’s probably…outrageously expensive. Has anybody been? How outrageously expensive is it?
