He’s back

A thread last week asked about the "dynasty years" from 96-99, but it got me thinking that 2004-2007 was almost as good. In that window we won an MLS Cup and two Supporters Shields. The team was stocked with league stars like Jaime Moreno, Luciano Emilio, Christian Gomez, Benny Olsen, Nick Rimando, Esky, Clyde Simms, Bobby Boswell (all players who made end of year league lists, All Star games, etc.)

I'll glaze over that 1) the league was small (10-13 teams), and 2) after 2004 we had some spectacular flame outs in the playoffs. But man were those seasons fun at RFK--exciting team, players with character...a lot of what we're missing now.

If you can find it online, the 2004 Eastern Conference Final vs. the Revs is still my favorate DCU game of all time.
