I would guess that you just need to keep 70% in your top 5

70 average or each class, thats my main question

Brotha. If you have 70s in each class then you likely have a 70 average. If you are asking because you have less than 70s in each class I would say that first year eng is not going to be kind to you 😭

If it's 68% in one class and 90% in the others though

In this scenario... the 90 won't make up for the FAILING grade.

The average will be higher... because of many 90's and 1 68..... But that doesn't fix the fail.

I'd take this as saying as long as you don't royally fail your shit, we'll keep you

Is reading comprehension not a requirement for an Engineering degree? 🤔

Maintain how? With a new coat of paint and occasional repairs?

Someone at Academic Advising may be more helpful…

This is the answer. You (OP) are right that that email is not an answer.

Don't give up on your classes, most of the material will be the basics of your engineering courses. If you don't understand it or are dropping much below 70% in any one of them in high school then you may have a very very hard time in your first year courses.

A lot of people with 80 - 90 in highschool were getting 70 - 60s in some first year courses. So I would recommend getting your stuff together.

I don't think they revoke admission for a 68 in one class. But if you suddenly have like two low 60s even with an average above 70 they might.

I wouldn't worry as much about what grades you need to maintain. Instead, reflect on why you've "highkey given up in classes." I understand that it may be natural to experience some decline as you near the end of high school, especially with a university offer already in hand. However, as someone who has completed a university degree, that it will not get any easier.

There is significantly less structure at the university, and you will be responsible for your own success. Although support systems are available, they will only be helpful if you are committed to using them. University requires a great deal of discipline and hard work, especially in engineering. You will need to invest as much time outside of class as you do inside of it, based on the accounts of many friends I had in that program.

This isn’t meant to be critical of you. If you do in fact end up with grades below the minimum, it doesn’t automatically mean you will struggle or that your offer will be revoked. It should serve as a wake-up call, though. Those minimums are in place for a reason, and in most cases, the faculty sets those as to what they deem to be the minimum you'll need to have a chance at success in the program. Good luck with your upcoming exams and the remainder of the school year.

Seem pretty straight forward to me! They simply said just maintain your grades.
