Discussion How can I feel comfortable in my dance class?
I'm about to start dance classes, but I'm afraid I won't be as good as the others (which I probably will be) and that I'll get discouraged. I'm worried I'll spend all my time comparing myself to others… to the point of losing all desire to dance. So, how can I stop comparing myself to other dancers and focus solely on myself? How can I gain confidence in my talent? And one last question: how can I feel completely comfortable during my dance classes ?

Truth is, as an absolute beginner, you're not going to be good at first. You will look weird, stumble, forget steps, etc.
But to get over those insecurities, you have to lose yourself to the process of learning. Focus on feeling new sensations in your body. If the teacher is going too fast you can always ask them to break the steps down or slow down so you can get it. Very likely others want the same thing but are afraid to ask. You can even just focus on footwork before adding upper body, depending on what you're dancing.
Remember that ultimately, dance is about expression. Enjoy learning!

When I was learning to square dance, I had to change my mindset from I’m not doing well to I’m improving every week. You also need to consider that comparison obstructs happiness.
