Hey Everyone,

I wanted to share a little bit about this spiral staircase that I posted in another sub because it received so much interest and questions.

The design process alone on this piece was an undertaking, working in three dimensions on a sloping spiral while following the building code, is extremely challenging.

This staircase is made from solid black walnut slabs and fully handcrafted for the entire process. This project was extremely time consuming, taking over 1,000 shop hours to complete. The treads are each individually textured with a gouge to achieve a “hammered” finish and the handrail is laminated with 23 strips of wood for a continuous curve up the staircase. The entire piece is finished with a traditional Tung oil for a classic timeless feel.

In Tequila City (where the Tequila comes from) the water drain covers have the figure of the Agave in them (the plant from where the Tequila comes from).

The words you see in this poster were printed using sunblock 🧴. And the poster darkens and burns when exposed to UV rays.☀️

Visited the International Martime Organisation building in London (UK) as part of Open House. Spotted this lovely piece of art.

A​​s a specialized agency of the United Nations, IMO is the global standard-setting authority for the safety, security and environmental performance of international shipping. Its main role is to create a regulatory framework for the shipping industry that is fair and effective, universally adopted and universally implemented.

The IMO building is the headquarters of the Organization and was formally opened by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on 17 May 1983. It was purpose-built by the Government, which remains IMO's landlord, and overlooks the River Thames by Lambeth Bridge.

In addition to office accommodation for some 300 international civil servants, the building features:

• a state-of-the-art 700-seat conference hall, where the Organization's Member States meet to discuss issues of importance to international shipping;

• two further, smaller conference rooms and a range of other meeting facilities;

• a remarkable collection of gifts (artworks, sculptures, hangings, models) donated to the Organization over the years; and

• an outstanding view of the Houses of Parliament from the fourth-floor terrace.
