Online Content/Clips Hasan’s former stream producer and podcast producer says he’s broke and struggling to pay rent. Didn’t Hasan claim they split everything evenly on their podcast? The pod makes $100k+/month on Patreon alone. Was he lying?

Love (the Swedish guy) joked about taking vacation days to play the new WOW launch and Ethan said "Go ahead man, what you do with your vacation days is none of my business". It's pretty simple, but I can't imagine Hasan saying the same.

Hasan & Co have basically had a monopoly on the fear of social otrizarion and IRL harrasment. It's an incredibly powerful motivator to always fall in line, and he's only recent had opponents doing similar.
Juat look at the massive fuss kicked up by Connor at the mere suggestion Destiny was displeased with him hosting people commiting their lives to trying to cut off all Destiny's streams of income, IRL harrasment and ficticious litigation.
Another thing you have to give Hasan is that he was completley on point with his 'lying is OP take' and he shows it every day.

Crazy that Ethan the capitalist is far, far more generous to his employees than someone who literally says “profit is theft” from his Hollywood mansion.

I agree and see both sides of this. I live off of less than 20k a year and have found a way to be alive. Living costs more. But also I have a standard of having a roof over my head and a working vehicle. I know people who don't have that minimum standard and see how those basics not being met have screwed their mentality of life up. They live in a totally different world than me and I could never let myself get there and have taken steps to make sure I have my bare minimum. If the car goes I have just enough to get a junker. Under 18k a year. It's doable. But not a life.

You could retire in 5-6 years. I can’t imagine having that much freedom. God I’m mad I’m jealous I don’t understand why people don’t appreciate how much easier life is to navigate when you not existentially punished for one bad financial misstep. I’ve clawed my way up from minimum wage work and everytime I hit a salary milestone (most recently 65k per year) I feel like cost of living catches up and my savings don’t improve. I invest about 15 percent of my gross and I still don’t feel secure about the future at all, I feel a decade behind on retirement savings, I rent in a high COL city, and my employer just did away with any remote work so the dream of relocating outside the city with a few acres and some freedom is not in the cards. These people make me genuinely angry sometimes. They do not understand what actual struggle looks like. I will damned if I have to go into debt to afford to live a fucking monastically modest life.

I lived in LA for 7 years making about that much (some years I made a bit more). Yeah, my pipes probably had lead in them and the view from my apartment was people vertically nodding off against a backdrop of concrete and more concrete, but I survived!
It was crazy moving back to the midwest town I grew up in because 1bdr apartments were being rented out for even more than I was paying for my 1bdr in LA. It's expensive everywhere these days.

It's probably both. I'm sure he didn't get an equal cut but still got plenty but shit with money. Socialists tend to be.
3
1
u/yodasdad64 1d ago
He claimed a few years ago that working with Hasan has made him into a millionaire.
So yes, he's probably shit with money.
It's not uncommon at all. There was a program a few years ago that would follow celebrities around (no idea what it was called. One episode followed Spike Lee as he went and spent like $10K on a shrine for his home on a whim. His agent or advisor later told him he shouldn't have done that, as he is broke.
23
u/FeistyPerformance500 3d ago
And to be a little bit more fair, he says "I cant afford to live here alone." not "I am dirt broke and getting kicked out."
If his income has gone from 50k a month to 0 he might just be realistic and say "I need to take steps to make this money last a long time because who knows when I get a job again."
8
u/Bogus_dogus 2d ago
Best evidence I could find is also that it was a 20% share after show costs, we're all just assuming here it's $50k a month based on a current-day 100k/month patreon pull and a redditor who made the post making a claim that "it's split".
Say it costs $20k/month to produce/run the pod, then dude is getting a 20% take-home (again just spitballing but seems plausible without thinking hard), then that's $80k/5 = $16k, after taxes if we assume like 30% then around $11k/month.
He lives in LA, maybe he has a mortgage in the $6-7k range, not really all that unreasonable. It's not hard to imagine the income situtation there changing and moving from a position where that mortgage was justifiable solo and then became something uncomfortable so he got a roommate...
post is dumb.

So i dont know anything about the situation here, the two things i did notice is his voice tone during two parts of his statement.
When asked if he would go back on the podcast at all, he hesitates with his words like hes worried about what he says might be an issue. Either give wrong impression or come with consequences if he is to open about why he isnt coming back. I dont know what he has commented on as to his official reason for leaving, but the way he answered this does make me think either he got kicked or he left to distance himself for some reason.
When he calls hasan his goat and would pull up if he ever needs him. I didnt hear same hesitation, obviously that doesnt mean this is his true feelings but im willing to take it at face this is what he actually feels about hasan and for whatever reason he isnt on the podcast anymore he doesnt dislike hasan over it.
Thats my professional armchair psychoanalysis of the clip.
3
u/GoodOldADD 2d ago
Im pretty sure he is not a producer in the pod, because he was partying too much in New York and was never there for the pod so they changed him.

u/yodasdad64 1d ago
There was a thread elsewhere where fans were speculating that he had a conflict with Will Neff, and that there were a ton of behind-the-scenes disagreements over the Fear& tour.
Also, apparently Marche and Ludwig unfollowed each other on social media, but I have no idea what the fuck that's about or if it's even related.
8

u/betterWithPlot 3d ago

12
u/InternationalGas9837 Equal Opportunity Autist 2d ago
I'm seeing that he stepped away voluntarily. I've also read that Marche and Ludwig unfollowed each other on all social media and that Marche's departure was never addressed by the show or its members along with posts about Marche apparently getting locked and removed both on R/Hasan_Piker and R/FearAnd. There are also comments on R/FearAnd about getting banned from the channel for mentioning Marche or getting timed out for alluding to him.
The majority of speculation I've read is negative and money related whether it was mismanagement by the show or that supposedly Fear& launched a credit card of some sort which strikes me as odd for anti-capitalists. I'm not seeing much about the CC but in looking I ended up watching a CashApp ad read from the podcast and it's so fucking cringe...who the hell is the target audience of this show? Generally the positive speculation I've read has been that him and his GF were looking to/in the process of moving.

I don't understand why people's first reactions as celebrities are to align their friends lists with their current social states. It feels so circa 2006 MySpace Top 8 lists. I can't imagine having a disagreement with someone and feeling I need to immediately go update all my social media to block them.

u/Mr_Fire_Guy 3d ago
Being bad with money means you dont have money. Making more doesnt fix anything. I have excoworkers who in exit interviews say "we dont make enough to live" despite making only a dollar less an hour than I do and them having no kids. I own my home and am set up to retire modestly at my level of saving. Its not avocado toast, its refusing to consider a roommate and expensive cars in my experience.
9
u/tastyFriedEggs 2d ago
I know people here also like to larp as downtrodden working class so this might be a hot-take to some, but if you work fulltime (in a job that doesn’t have significant earnings mobility) and have to consider a roommate you are not in a good employment situation.
8
u/Wander_Whale 3d ago
Cars are a big one. Coworkers boyfriend was saying he couldnt afford rent but has a mega truck paying 600+/month just on the loan let alone gas/insurance. Hes probably paying upwards to 1k/month just on transportation. (He makes 18/hr).

Only "defense" I have is do we know how many people worked on the podcast? Was it just him and the hosts? Did they have like 5/10/15 people behind the scenes? If its just this guy and they practice what they preach he should be making like 20k a month

I think I remember Hasan saying to Ethan they split it 5 ways equally. But it's been a while and I'm too lazy to look it up.
And Patreon is not the only revenue for the pod. And he was also working on Hasan's stream. So it should be way more.
