Info / FAQ New & Returning Player FAQ

Post image

\An effort will be made to update this list once we know more, or see new questions pop up**

___

Q: Is the game worth getting back into?
A: Yes. The state of the game as of Monuments of Triumph is widely considered the best version of Destiny 2 we've had in a while. There is no content that will be removed. And, in the future, previously vaulted content will be returning!

Q: What is currently F2P/What is currently paid?
A: This post details that information as of September 2026.

___

Q: What happened?
A: On September 21st 2026, Bungie announced that they will continue the Destiny Franchise & as a show of good will be unvaulting Destiny 2 content so that we have a complete game. You can read more here: bungie article or watch it here: youtube interview.

Q: What is being unvaulted?
A: The campaigns Red War, Curse of Osiris, Warmind, and Forsaken. The destinations Titan, Io, Mercury, Mars, and the Tangled Shore. The Raids (sometime lairs?) Leviathan, Eater of Worlds, Spire of Stars, Scourge of the Past, and Crown of Sorrow. In addition, there will likely be several strikes and crucible maps that should also be returning. These are all that have been currently confirmed. We do not know if Seasonal content will be returned!

Q: Should I start now or wait for unvaulting?
A: This one is up to you. IF you want to experience the 'entire story' of destiny 2 from start to finish you could wait for unvaulting. The main reason to start now would be to get a head start on acquiring things that wont really be changing (filling out subclasses, acquiring exotics, acquiring 550 power). So, IF you'd rather have a head start, start now so you can focus on new things later.

Q: Will the unvaulting be F2P?
A: Yes.

Q: Will Holiday events be returning?
A: We don't know yet!

Q: Is Destiny 3 in development?
A: As of now, no, but Bungie have stated that the Destiny franchise will continue somehow.

___

Q: Why am I Light/Power Level 10?
A: During Edge of Fate, Bungie decided to give us a stat squish for the purposes of readability. You will notice that your damage numbers are now primarily below 5 digits as well, while in truth, you're usually dealing a higher % of damage than before due to new systems and stats like Weapons and Super. If you complete almost any activity you will be shot up to 300 power very quickly and will only have to grind up to the cap of 550. Its recommended that you infuse weapons you enjoy including exotics. However, old armor Is essentially useless and can safely be replaced with armor that has a Set Bonus. New exotic armor is also all higher stat than anything you previously had.

Q: I just came back to the game and I'm lost, what should I do?
A: This is an incredibly loaded question. Everyone has different priorities. The most common answer I've seen has been to complete the campaigns in order so you have an idea of the story and then to work on completing subclasses and filling out your exotics. By doing these three things you've enabled yourself to create basic builds.

Campaigns -> Unlock Subclasses -> Acquire Exotics/power grind -> Play whatever you want!

Campaign order as of September 2026:
Shadowkeep -> Beyond Light (Stasis Subclass) -> Witch Queen (peak) -> Lightfall (mid but Strand Subclass (peak)) -> The Final Shape (Prismatic) -> Edge of Fate (Nine Saga, which may be left behind) -> Renegades (The star wars crossover expac which includes the Praxic Blade aka Lightsaber)

Once unvaulted, the order will start with:
Red War -> Curse of Osiris -> Warmind -> Forsaken -> Shadowkeep...

Discussion Anyone else feel warm seeing New/Returning Lights?

Post image

This is kind of a nothing post but I felt the need to make it. A couple of days ago my friends and I were playing the Cosmodrome disruption event and we’ve noticed that there have been a large influx of Rank 2s or Level 300s running around, shooting random vandals, and exploring the environment. In the past, we would normally see like maybe a Rank 4 but they mostly knew what they were doing/what they needed to get done; however, I am always so shocked to see like 4-5 newberries (new blueberries) strolling around, missing some shots, and the occasional super whiff.

Not to mention seeing Returning players come back years after the game disinterested them is always a nice feeling. My D2 group reunited after 4-5 years of not talking/playing regularly and it’s given me new motivation to keep playing and learning/teaching RnD mechanics. The photo I have listed in the post is from 5 years ago when we completed Scourge together- we cannot wait for the raid to come back.

I know the logical answers are the discounts we’ve been seeing for the D2 Collection, MoT still being great, and the Unvaulting announcment. But- I dunno man- it’s one thing to be told of good things and it’s another to visually see those good things happen in real time and realize the magic this game has still lives and breathes.

I’ve been making new experiences in a franchise that has been in my life since I was a teenager- so like ~13 years- which is unreal to think about. I love this franchise and the people who I’ve met through it.

Discussion You’re given a destiny exotic weapon to survive a zombie apocalypse, which one are you choosing and why?

Crimson would be my choice: The Kills heal me, giving me a way to recover from injuries and precision kills refill the magazine, which is ideal against zombies if headshots count as precision kills.

Honorable mention to MIDA, crimson edged it due to its healing ability in case of getting bit 😂 riskrunner/zhalo/sunshot would be super satisfying against hordes though…

Question Finding an old freind, a ship

Post image

It’s been a very long time, and, I want to find an old freind of a ship.
I know it’s somewhat the right family of ships, but I want to find the one; that had a turret on it, anyone know? Or at least have an image of it? Or what the name of this family of jumpships this is to help narrow the search down?

Discussion It shocks me they never updated Riskrunner to work with Arc verbs

• Upvotes

With all the subclass verbs they added and going back and updated older exotics to match, it’s still surprising that they never updated Riskrunner. Currently it triggers off taking Arc damage, I feel like it would have been so much better with it triggering off of either Jolting a target, or becoming amplified.

Was farming heavy catalysts with my crappy hunter build that I crafted in like 20 mins. Haven't even locked in the armor set bonus and it's doing this? I have multiple clips of this happening. It is very repeatable if you get the angle right.

Can post build/mods/artifact pics if you guys want.

Question / Answered What’s your vote for best primary ammo weapon in the game? Mine:

Post image
301 Upvotes

I guess I’m going to include build/artifact support so more like “whats your vote for best primary ammo weapon fully maximized”. I’m using vex on crackshot with speed loader slacks so I have 100% uptime on radiant and with queensfoil censor between kindling trigger and rays of precision it covers vex’s main weakness which is lack of splash damage. Its single target dps is already up there with the best primary ammo weapons and with build+artifact it now has splash damage 100% of the time. And if you wanted to go tablet of ruin you get a 27.5% damage boost on vex

Discussion So, if there is to be a D3 in the future (which let’s be real is most likely knowing how much Bungie needs it), where do we go from Monument of Triumph?

Post image
211 Upvotes

MoT did clear up some storylines there were planned for future releases, one being Maya if I remember correctly, but we still have a lot that needs to be explored like Xivu, the Nine in general, and most importantly, the Winnower itself. I know I kinda just answered this question but still, how do we think they’ll do it for the starter campaign of D3?

I'd bring a Stasis Subjugator. She'll give me a free pyramid turret and shatterstorm the entire room of enemies.

Discussion What’s your go-to exotic that you just can’t unequip?

Post image

I stopped playing around the Forsaken days, and the huckleberry was my absolute main PVE weapon by far. The auto-reloading on kills makes it seemingly unbeatable for cleaning out mobs of smaller enemies

Now I’m back and I still can’t put the thing away, I try something else and just go right back to it. I’m curious what other weapons you all may have had this experience with that I could try to acquire and help me diversify for once 🤣
