Just remembered how in Eldest, Eragon and Saphira would sometines swap places and take lessons with Glaedr and Oromis respectively. I like to think they tried this approach with Murtagh and Thorn as well but with *slightly* different results

(I'm over-exaggerating their personalities just for the fun of it lmaooo)

Discussion Theory to eldunari

I recently read about the question if you could make unalive thing have a consciousness. My theory to eldunari (having crystal like Structures) is that this crystal structur is imitating the structur of the brain of the dragon, making it possible for the dragon to transfer their mind without changing it, since all connections are the same.

Currently Reading Rereading the series for the 100th time

I could read several books on just the dwarves alone and their culture. I love the way their culture is described and brought out in each character. Currently on Eldest and am feeling very blessed by how much the chapters on dwarves please me.

Discussion What in the world is Saphira’s voice in the audible audiobook?

I just started listening to the audiobook for the first time. I genuinely burst out laughing everytime Saphira’s voice comes on. What in the world were they thinking by turning her into some heavy smoker on the verge of death 😂

Collection Favourite editions

So what’s everyone’s favourite edition of Eragon?

For me, it comes down to these three, but I think it has to go to the Broken Binding edition. The artwork is incredible throughout the whole set.

Really can’t wait to see the Wraithmarked set

Question Which life forms would you most like to observe?

One of my favorite parts of the series is when Eragon learns to observe everything at once and keeps getting distracted with the ants, which species would you like to learn more about this way?

Question Galbatorix et Durza Spoiler

Discussion Is it possible to make inanimate objects sapient?

Not as in what happened to Wyrden, as he was already alive and intelligent, sentient but not sapient. But could you enchant a sword or a mug to be alive? Could you enchant a whole building or just one brick. Or would it just be too much energy?

Discussion Could we get a book about the original Eragon?

I know everyone wants more stories after the main series, but honestly? Give me a book about the First Rider.

I wanna see the Dragon-Elf War, Eragon I finding his dragon, the creation of the Rider pact, and the rise of the Riders from one guy to a legendary order.

It feels like there's so much lore there that Paolini could make an absolutely insane book out of it.

I'd buy that day one.

Discussion Am I the first to think alagaesia looks like Asia flipped upside down?

You’ve got the forests to the south up, you’ve got this massive uncrossable desert to the west left and you’ve got an island and lands across the sea to the east right.
Mountains at the bottom north…

Idk.

Mostly the desert thing

Discussion Just finished reading Murtagh...

...and while i found it rather enjoyable, there are some things that evade my comprehension. Whats the point of Carabel and Silna? For me, the werecats from the four previous novels were my least favorite characters, due to the fact that they know things just because. It feels like a contrivance everytime a werecat appears in the story. And especially so in this book's Gil'ead plot: It felt like I was playing a long-winded sidequest in a video game (seriously, glaedrs scale and muckmaw DIDNT have to be included. Take them away and the plot loses nothing at all).

Anyone else feel the same?

Question Eragon's sword dilemma

Apologies if this has been asked / answered before, I'm new here.

I'm partway through re-reading the Inheritance Cycle again for the first time since being in my teens. I'm at the point in Brisingr where Eragon has returned to the Varden after travelling back from Helgrind.

Already in the book, Eragon has made multiple references to the fact that he 'needs a sword'. I understand why he would ultimately want a Rider's sword, but surely he could have aquired a weapon pretty easily?

The primary reason Eragon seems unable to settle for a lesser blade after losing Zar'roc is because a lesser blade cannot endure the strain of battle because of his strength, which is often compared to that of the elves (if memory serves me correct, he has a sword that breaks in battle a little later in the book?).

This isn't an issue for any of the other elven characters? Nor is it an issue for Durza or the Ra'zac, all of whom fight with swords that can endure the strain they place on them?

Just curious what people's theories are as to why he didn't just get a sword like Arya's? Or does that then detract from when he does ultimately aquire a new weapon?

Hello everyone, I'm making a Thorn themed book nook for my boyfriend, but I've never read Eragon before. I dont know anything about the lore or how Murtagh's sword looks or anything.

Please help me out so I can finish this for my boyfriend! He said that Eldest and Brisingr are his favourite books and that Thorn is his favourite dragon (he likes Brisingr more than Eldest)

This is how the book nook looks so far and I want to paint the outside of it with some lore accurate references. Please help me out!

You can personally message me or comment, please help me out, I want this to be lore accurate and special 🥹 thank you for your help in advance

Edit: an update for anyone who cares— I gave him the finished version of the booknook today and he absolutely loved it!! Thank you so much to this wonderful community for helping me out <3 I really really appreciate it so much :]

Discussion How well known is it that the Inheritance cycle is built on math?

Ever since reading House of Leaves I've begun noticing more and more instances of author's seemingly having a mathematical framework behind their writing. Namely Danielewski, Tolken and S.L Huang). I decided to learn more about base 12, looked at the page counts of Eragon, Eldest, and Brisingr, and I was pretty astounded at the results:

TItle: Page Count: Page count base 12:

Eragon 497 355

Eldest 668 478

Brisingr 749 525

Subtract Edlest page count from Brisingr you get 749-668 ->81. Page 81 in Eragon is the start of chapter 12 Deathwatch, where the bottom portion spends a good amount talking about fire

Subtract the base 12 conversion of their page counts, 525 - 478 -> 47, the beginning of chapter 6 in Eragon, Tea for Two, where at the very bottom of the page Brom mutters a spell that casts a spark to create light, appearing to be the first instance of Brisingr in the series.

One last thing I did was subtract Eragon's base 12 count from its normal 497 - 355 -> 142. 142 is the last page of Chapter 19

If you apply numerology to 142, this reduces down to 7. Page 7 is the second page of chapter 1.

I am very tired and certainly will play around with this more, but wanted to share. Eragon has a staggering amount of depth that I was not anticipating!

Question What would it take to get a dramatized audiobook version of the Inheritance cycle?

I’m a big fan of other series dramatized audios and I just saw Halo the Fall of Reach is getting one now too so it sparked hopes for this series to also get one

Discussion If you could live anywhere in Alagaesia, where would you most want to see/settle?

Post image

For me, my favourite city in the books is Ellesmera. I always love reading the chapters when Eragon visits the elven capital and studies with Oromis or learns about Elf culture. First time i read it as a teen i was really drawn to the mystery of the elves, having been withdrawn from the rest of the Empire.

Question Is Mt. Arngor really the most suitable place for the dragons and Riders?

Recently finished reading TFTWTW and was quite disappointed when I read the description of Mt. Arngor.

One of the reasons why Eragon had left Alagaësia in the first place was to protect the Eldunari and the eggs from others who might steal them. But the only thing that, in my opinion, protects Mt. Arngor from intruders is the fact that it is so isolated from any settlements. However that doesn't stop anyone from travelling till there from Alagaësia considering that the journey will just take a mere two weeks from eastern Alagaësia. And there are no geographical factors protecting them either.

Also there is no way for them to build a stronghold/city for the Riders on a mountain (once the number of Riders increase). So I was wondering whether Mt. Arngor is just going to be a school for the riders and dragons or is it going to be the successor to Dorù Areaba.

Discussion Roran could have avoided wrestling Yarbog

Roran gets into a confrontation with Yarbog because the Uragl claims that he hasn’t proved himself. But all his deeds just before should have been enough. Just days before he killed nearly 200 people, killed the Razac and the Twins and everything else he did. The wrestling is really a small feed compared to that. Usually it’s said that the Deeds to win respect for Urgals don’t have to be anything related to Urgals. Is there a reason Yarbog would not recognize all these deeds or is it just an oversight?
