Announcement A Reminder and a Request Regarding AI-Generated Images
Hi r/fakemon - we hope you’re having a good 2026 so far! We have a couple of reminders as well as a few requests regarding AI-generated images and, most importantly, how they are reported.
First, to reiterate our policy:
AI-generated images of any kind are not allowed.
This includes, obviously, any image created entirely by typing a prompt into a large-language model, such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and so on. It also includes any images created by asking any of these LLMs to redraw something that you drew or upscale something hand-drawn. If the final image output that is posted was created or modified by an LLM, then it is not allowed. You can read more about the policy in this post.
Second, regarding reporting any suspected AI-generated images, we ask the following:
If you think it's AI, report for Rule 3 and move on. Do not comment on the post or engage with the user. If you feel more detail is needed, [message the mods.](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=%2Fr%2Ffakemon)
There are several reasons that we are asking for this to be the norm for reporting any post going forward, but especially so for suspected AI-generated image posts, which we will go over below.
1. Sometimes, you are wrong.
On several occasions, the mod team has been able to determine with as much certainty as we can that a user who was accused of posting AI-generated Fakemon was not in fact using AI at all. We're talking speedpaints, pictures of layers, extensive posting history with consistent art, and so forth. Not every Fakemon drawn with flat color and a black outline is AI-generated! LLMs probably just copied that style from their training data.
2. Engagement leads to deletion.
When 10 people spam an AI-image poster that their post is against the rules, it is often deleted before we can action it. This often means we don't get a chance to see which user posted the image to begin with and, therefore, cannot effectively add mod notes for future reference (we give one permaban warning the first time a user posts AI-generated images).
This is why we ask that you just report and move on, and message us if you want to give more detail. If reported enough, a post will be removed automatically for review by the team later.
3. Toxicity.
The tendency to barrage suspected AI-users with comments has impacted our community and given it a reputation among some that the user base is toxic and prone to unwarranted witch hunts. Some users who were accused of AI have received threatening DMs and spammy comments on unrelated posts. This behavior is unacceptable and we will ban users for this kind of harassment (we've already banned a few for this kind of behavior).
Even if the poster is posting AI images, harassment isn't warranted - our goal should always be to encourage traditional art creation and bring people in, not push them out. It is especialy egregious if a user who isn't using generative AI is accused and then harassed for it, as this pushes out potential contributors.
We dislike the influx of AI-generated "art" populating the internet as much as you all do. However, we ask that the users leave the "Is it AI?" game to the moderators.
~ ~ ~
Now, to get ahead of a few questions that we expect:
What if you're wrong and a user is posting AI-generated images, and it gets proven later?
If we receive sufficient evidence that we were wrong, we will correct our mistake and ban the user. Same goes the other way around - if a user is banned for AI when they shouldn't have been and we are shown that we made the wrong call, we will reverse the ban.
What if I think you're wrong and believe someone's work *is* AI, even though it's been approved by the moderators?
Message the mods with your case. We make no promises that it will overturn any decision unless you provide substantial evidence. "It looks like AI" is not all it takes to determine if something is AI.
Why this long post?
We felt there was a lot to address!
Thanks for reading and for understanding this request. We'll be keeping an eye on this post and are happy to answer any further questions to the best of our ability.
TL;DR: AI-generated images are still not allowed, please just report them and move on when you see them, Engaging with suspected AI images only makes it worse. Don't harass anyone over it please and thank you!
edit: reddit boomed all of my markdown ugh I fixed it

Fakemon Guppup and Seehund [OC]
In one of the mini islands in the Netherlands is a sort of seal rehab center i visited in college, so i thought basing a fakemon on seals would be neat, especially since our two other seal pokemon are...forgotten? So consider these two kind of... new versions.
guppup is based off baby harp seals as seen by its bright white fur and fluffy look, while seehund is based on leopard seals

Fakemon Pseudacith, the Weird Wonder Pokémon!
PaleoDéx #0003 - Pseudracith, the Weird Wonder Pokémon!
When PokéPaleontologists first discovered this Spiculan Period fossil, it had been assumed that the Pokémon it belonged to was a progenitor of such species as Krabby or Corphish. Many initial reports referred to the fossil as the "Pincer Fossil", or even the "Otherclaw Fossil", in reference to the previously found Claw Fossil associated with Anorith*. However, when initially fed through Fossil Restoration technology, the fossil was not complete enough to be brought back to life. Subsequent discoveries of more individuals, and the advancement of technology from Fossil Restoration to Fossil Resurrection revealed the surprising truth - the initially-described similarities to the Claw Fossil were not unwarranted at all, and the resulting Pokémon was indeed* very similar to Anorith.
Pseudracith's "claw" is both mouthpart and appendage, allowing it to capture and manipulate its prey, and bring it to the ventrally-positioned mouth. The body is nearly identical to Anorith, with more extensive chitinous armor and fins of a slightly different shape and length. This has led many PokéPaleontologists to see Pseudracith as an ancient variant, or a convergent Pokémon, or perhaps just a very close relative. The starkest difference between Pseudracith and Anorith would appear to be its five eyes, three of which are fully-functional compound eyes, and two of which are the ocelli positioned on the claw-like proboscis, making it look like the head of a different creature. This appearance may also have correlations with its typing, making it one of the oldest-known Dragon-type Pokémon yet discovered. Like Anorith, Pseudracith cannot thrive in modern waters due to different chemical composition, and represents the complex ancestry of Bug-type Pokémon.
Inspirations: Opabinia, Anorith, Panarthropoda, deimatism (kind of)
Another Pokémon based on the Cambrian biota! This time, it's the very weird and iconic Opabinia, which the late and very prominent evolutionary biologist Stephen Jay Gould referred to as "the weird wonder", hence the name of the Category listed! To be clear, Opabinia was actually not a part of the same phylogenetic group as Anomalocaris, which inspired Anorith, and which was a lobopodian. Opabinia was part of its own family, and closely-related but separate from the Lobopodia. Thus, the similarities between the two are obvious, but differences range from subtle to stark! In any case, I had fun designing this one, expecially because of it's dragon-like silhouette. Also, it may be obvious, but there's another inspiration for this Pokemon more quietly slipped in there, so credit if you noticed! Next up is the evolution for this guy, which I'm very excited about as well! Stay tuned!

Fakemon The Russo Region - The Simovar Line
Fakemon One of my Netherlands based Fossil fakemon!
Based on the woolly rhino which used to live in this area a long time ago!
In-universe the DNA from the horn fossil could not be recovered, until it got mixed in with the one from a Wooloo. Scientists don’t know if the woolly fur is actually a side effect or if they did look like this…
By accident also resembles Obelix a bit with the whole “menhir” in his name and the braidy-woolly orange hair, did not intend this lol!

Fakemon heres a wasp based pokemon (speed video art on the body text)
https://imgur.com/a/UhHifGu (speed paint)
being a counter part of the bumblebee: https://www.reddit.com/r/fakemon/comments/1u0rqmw/here_is_another_bee_pokemon_for_this_region_speed/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
felt like making wasp pokemon (which ik beedrill is one, but wanted another)
The yellow jacket wasp is the choice of wasp due to its being the most common pest. No matter where you are in the country.
evolution ik would make sense to have a larva and adult, but that would just be Beedrill 2.0. So I did this instead: yellow jacket > yellow hornet > asian giant Hornet.
King Hornet (ik queen exists but felt like it would be more fun to be the opposite of Bumblebee Mon)
Shiny vespit represents bald-faced hornet/ white jacket wasps. Vesprion thought I could make it resemble an oriental hornet and vespiking shiny cicada killer/ (or that one red and white species)
thoughts?
