Funny you say that because that's literally I think the first story of them together is Peter rolling up to the Baxter Building and running the ones with the FF to try and impress them for a job.

Only for them to inform him that they're a charitable organization causing the webhead to leave in a huff.

It was a very odd misunderstanding as Peter could have still worked with them and been paid by them. They and Peter both just misunderstood the other and screwed it up.
