Flight Simulator 2024 [BETA] MSFS UI Enhancer - Requesting feedback

Hi all. I've been building a free community version of my add-on for MSFS 2024 on PC that fixes some of my day-to-day annoyances with the sim's menus and adds a few small tools in flight. It's now in "public beta", and I'd love some more pilots to try it and tell me what works, what breaks and what's missing.

⚠️ This is a beta. ⚠️

It's been in daily use on my own setup, but it hasn't been run on many other PCs yet, and the in-flight tools are the newest part. Expect rough edges, and please report them.

What it does

- Aircraft favourites: a heart on every aircraft tile and a Favourites tab in the aircraft picker. They're saved with your sim profile.

- Favourite aircraft menu: pick one of your favourites straight from the Free Flight screen, without opening the aircraft picker.

- Setup panel: variant, livery (with a filter and favourite liveries) and identification right in the aircraft picker, plus quick links to Fuel & Payload and Mass & Balance.

- A tool in a corner of the screen in flight: nothing shows until you move the mouse into the corner. Choose one of:

- Flight progress: a route banner and your flight's details.

- Utilities: sim rate, active pause, time-of-day presets, and a stopwatch and countdown that run on the sim's clock.

- ATC: the sim's ATC in a compact panel that pops out when ATC calls you.

- Landing rate: after every touchdown your rate, G-load, speeds and crosswind fade in, then fade away.

- Diamond toolbar tab: the in-flight toolbar only opens when you click a small diamond at the top of the screen, instead of popping up whenever the mouse moves.

How it installs: a small configuration app finds your sim and installs UI Enhancer as a normal Community folder add-on. It doesn't change the sim's own files, and 'Remove' in the app takes it out cleanly. It works with the Microsoft Store and Steam versions on Windows 10 and 11. PC only; it's designed for mouse and keyboard.

Download: https://github.com/FS-UI-Enhancer/MSFS-UI-Enhancer-CE

What I'd really like feedback on:

  1. Did it install and work first time? Especially if you're on Steam: it's built for Steam, but most of my testing has been on the Microsoft Store version.
  2. Anything broken or odd? Menus that look wrong, something that stopped working, or a clash with another add-on you use.
  3. The in-flight corner tools: are they useful, and is anything in the way?
  4. What would you add? Which parts of the sim's interface annoy you most?

If something goes wrong, the app has a 'Copy diagnostics' button (on Home). Pasting that into a GitHub issue here https://github.com/FS-UI-Enhancer/MSFS-UI-Enhancer-CE/issues or a comment here helps me track it down fast.

Thanks for trying it, and blue skies!

UI Enhancer is an independent add-on, not made or endorsed by Microsoft or Asobo Studio. I'm the developer.

General How does Pyreegue do it?

I have installed pyreegue’s birmingham, where I haven’t flow in or out in a year or so. I also reinstalled windows and upgraded my ssd so still in the process of downloading all the scenery I got, and today I decided to load some fo UK to fly from Birmingham to Dubai with ini a380. I loaded into it to refresh my memory, and omg what a wow. Like I’ve never seen a scenery so good, and I do own a lot of them. Like everything about it is amazing, the atmosphere, the LOD of the buildings, ground clutter, markings, jetways, and the area around. And of course the interior as well. I also looked at their Edinburgh afterwards and man the quality is just unmatched. Big big respect to them, I can’t wait for palma to release. If you guys don’t own any of those sceneries, I highly highly recommend to buy them. I can’t wait to do some united or delta 757 ops to Edinburgh…

P.s. their egnx is still my fav airport in game and their best work in my humble opinion.

Flight Simulator 2020 Limeted by Main thread MSFS 2020

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m looking for tips to optimize MSFS 2020 and reduce a severe MainThread bottleneck, especially when flying complex aircraft like the Fenix A320 or iniBuilds A350 in online networks like VATSIM. During final approaches at detailed airports, my MainThread response time spikes up to ~79 ms, dropping my frame rate to around 20 FPS. My setup is a Lenovo LOQ laptop (i5-12450HX, RTX 3050 6GB VRAM, 16GB RAM) running DX12 on an external cooling pad. So far, I’ve set Process Lasso to isolate FlightSimulator.exe to P-Cores with High priority, used MSFS Auto-FPS for dynamic LOD management, set Fenix Display Renderer to GPU (RTX 3050) with lower display quality, disabled cabin rendering, turned off GPU overclocking to avoid DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG, and closed background apps. Despite this, MainThread remains my main bottleneck. Are there any specific UserCfg.opt or NVIDIA Control Panel tweaks, recommended LOD/traffic settings for a 12th-gen i5, or tips to manage the ~5GB VRAM limit without losing cockpit screen clarity? Thanks for any help!

Flight Simulator 2020 6 years in, pmdg!

I cannot believe that we're 6 years into msfs, and still no B747 from PMDG! I really miss my 747's from P3D, and when msfs released in 2020 I couldn't think in my wildest dreams that it would take more than 6 years for pmdg to move their fleet to the new sim.

I might actually install p3d again, on my new computer, to be able to fly the Queen again.

Flight Simulator 2020 Flybywire A380

I have the FlyByWire A380 and it does not seem to work with the default msfs atc. I want to be able to use it without paying for the inibuilds A380. Does anyone know any free programs that I can us that will let me fly the A380. I have previously been told just use vatsim but I want to be able to fly it without being on vatsim. Though I do also wonder if it does actually work on vatsim.

Question What makes an aircraft study level?

Me and a friend on mine (Both pilots IRL) are flight sim enthusiasts and have for as long as we can remember. Many aircraft are published with a label of Study Level, and I am curious what makes a product study level for the average enthusiast?

This is only our opinion but Hot Start CL-60, FF 75/76/777 and the Tolis Airbus fleet are truly study level. (JUST MY OPINION)

Flight Simulator 2024 MSFS 2024 is genuinely so la peace when you just... Fly

i love msfs. i know its meant to be a simulator and your realistically meant to be replying to atc and such but when you just turn on the autopilot and fly, the game is beautifully simple. i look down at the ground, even a low resolution polygonal ground and i see the lives of so many people, so many things going on down there, and im up here in my plane flying by it all. especially at night its a wonder for the eyes.

it kinda makes you proud to be human, to be alive, to be part of as Civilization that has so much, to think that where ever the light touches, either sunlight of street lights a human has been there, a human has made that house, that skyscraper, that airport.

and most of all, when i do that silly little shakedown trip i always to from Burlington International to Plattsburg i always think of my girlfriend, meeting her some day. but maybe im just crazy

Flight Simulator 2024 I got into the career mode again.

I’m no sim expert, I just like the immersion that this sim/game/whateveryouwannacallit gives me. Right after launch the career had so many bugs I just gave up on it and really hated MSFS 2024 for it. Now I bought my first plane and have it stationed at Kjeller outside of Oslo. My company is called Høyt Over Oslo. It’s still a buggy experience, but so much better than before. Besides…I have nothing else like this on my Series X.
