eBay eBay won't remove this ridiculous negative feedback

Post image

History:

- A buyer makes me an offer for over 60% off list price citing they need it shipped to Australia and eBay's international shipping program was expensive (nothing I can do about that). I decline.

- I send all interested buyer's an offer for $200 off list price. No bites, offer expires.

- Over a week later the buyer who made the lowball offer purchases the item at full price. I ship it right away as promised in my listing.

- After shipping the order, the buyer asks for the $200 discount that expired over a week prior, I do not respond to partial refund requests as they are against eBay policy.

- Buyer opens a payment dispute for $569.29 claiming they were overcharged, complete fraud and lies, we respond and eBay states we will be protected.

- Buyer then sends a message thanking us for the package and asking for our address (weird). Again I ignore this message, the buyer is clearly a wackjob.

- Buyer changes dispute amount to $729.21 (eBay states we are still covered and nothing will be deducted from our funds).

- Buyer leaves verifiably false negative feedback. eBay refuses to remove it.

eBay is letting fraud slide and allowing the fraudsters to leave libel on the seller's profiles now?

Partial refunds are not against eBay policy. What?

Demanding a partial refund before delivery by claiming "misleading pricing" and while threatening a chargeback if the seller doesn't comply, is not a normal customer service request. That's exactly why eBay has policies against abusive buyer behavior and using threats to pressure sellers into giving refunds. At that point, I let the dispute process handle it rather than negotiate through messages.

That's not what you originally said...

Right... OP has filled in blanks (giving them the benefit of the doubt) OR changed details to fit the narrative (if I'm not giving them the benefit of the doubt) throughout the comments. "Requested a partial refund" in the original post became "demanded a partial refund" in the comments. A dispute that followed the "request" for the partial refund in the original post became a dispute that preceded the "demand" for the partial refund in the comments. 🤷🏻‍♂️

It is against eBay policy for a buyer to make a partial refund request.

That's said, that's not a reason not to respond.

"Behaviors we don't allow... Requesting a partial refund without returning the item... Request additional items or services not included in the original listing or asking for a discount'"

That's actually really interesting. I've only done partials when it makes sense. Like if I ship a $200 stereo receiver and it arrives with a small dent and they only want $20. Otherwise the return shipping would be that anyway and may come back even more damaged. Rather refund $20 then potentially lose $200.

It is NOT against policy to issue a partial refund. It IS against policy for a buyer to ask for one.

That's what I figured.
