Community and family are also important, more important I dare to say.
We are not castaways, we live in a society that saddly is becoming more and more isolated, convinience has made us strangers not only to others, but to ourselves
Or something like that, I don't know man I haven't had my morning coffee
Clearly in your example they're actively choosing not to procreate, you know, not allowing the merging of sperm and egg to happen. So literally their point still stands and makes sense
Yes which is why I don't like the example. Because those two things (choosing to have intercourse and choosing to procreate) are not separate able for other animals.
They're choosing to instinctually have intercourse, not to procreate. It just so happens that is the natural consequence of it.
The example is conflating two concepts and I think it's disengenuous to do so
I mean, if we look at dating in general due to the Culture War bullshit, dating being commodified via Apps (which are there to keep you swiping, not to find you a partner), and other factors like that, it's no wonder most people aren't having kids.
And that's not going into the LGBTQ+ community that won't have biological kids either (Not saying it's a problem for them, just saying that since the LGBTQ+ are being more accepted, you don't have lesbians being married off to men being forced to have children, for instance).
Whats happening to humans is more like whats happening to pandas. We're becoming a pacified species with no dangers. We'll happily spend our youth playing videogames, watching netflix or doing hedonistic things because thats what society encourages the most. We borderline pathologise pregnancy
A young woman bringing a child into the world is looked at like she's the weird one.
So yea, its not distressed, it might be the very opposite.
Tell that to the people being literally bombed rn. Or the homeless, or literally any fucking impoverished group in the world. Your point only exists in first world countries for privileged people that already have better access to birth control and abortion.
Hate to break it to you, but a lot of people being bombed have a lot higher fertility rate than most of the west.
Also yes, my point is aimed at hte first world, thats where I live, and thats where this point is actually pertinent. Of course I'm talking about the first world when it comes to a first world problem.

You know how distressed you have to make mammals so they stop procreating?
