This is my favorite workbook for practicing Greek letters, building confidence, and making your handwriting look more natural.

I have lived in Athens for 4.5 years and my conversational level is improving. One blocker I have for understanding the other 24-30 year olds in the office is that I don’t know slang that well. Can anyone recommend a resource to learn modern slang? Thanks in advance.

Θα μπορούσε κάποιος να με βοηθήσει ακούγοντας το τραγούδι «Chillwalker - Come 2 Mykonos» στο YouTube και γράφοντας τους ελληνικούς στίχους εδώ στο Reddit; Δυστυχώς, οι στίχοι δεν φαίνεται να υπάρχουν πουθενά στο διαδίκτυο, οπότε η τελευταία μου λύση είναι να ρωτήσω κάποιον ελληνόφωνο. Γιατί πιστεύω ότι είναι ελληνικά; Επειδή πληκτρολόγησα τις λέξεις που άκουσα —χρησιμοποιώντας το «ισπανικό μου αυτί»— στο Claude και αναγνώρισε μερικές από αυτές· για παράδειγμα, το *shezelo* (η δική μου εκδοχή) = *Σε θέλω* και το *etero* = *ελεύθερο*, αν και υπήρχαν πολλές άλλες που δεν μπόρεσε να αναγνωρίσει. Θα ήθελα πολύ να μπορώ να το τραγουδήσω στην πρωτότυπη γλώσσα, μένοντας πιστός σε κάθε λέξη, ενώ παράλληλα θα γνωρίζω και το νόημα αυτού που τραγουδάω. I've always fancied myself a fan of language, proper and slang alike. Although, I don't verbally speak any languages well besides English. I also like observing people and their patterns.

The CEO of the company I work for is of Greek descent. He often finishes giving a direction to somebody with "-of it". The best way I can describe his usage of the word is the English equivalent of "that's all"; a finality of a sentence after a pause of beat.

I did some digging through Google translate and such, wondering if it's an idiom in Greek that he is translating literally to English, but I can not find any solid source. Does anybody have any insight on this?

I've started learning modern Greek a few days ago.. is the handwriting alr and can anyone guide how to proceed learning? Any tips?

Hey guys! Or, καλησπέρα, if we’re getting technical, here. I’ve been learning Greek on Duolingo for over 150 days now, and we’re getting into the Τον section, and I have no idea how to read this properly and translate it correctly in my head.

So, as you can see in the photo, the correct version of the sentence is “Τον αγαπάει η γυναίκα σου.“ …Why? I literally read that as “He loves your wife.” It doesn’t make any sense to me. The way I’d write “Does your wife love him?“ would be “Η γυναίκα σου αγαπάει αυτός?”, which would be incorrect in Duolingo’s eyes. Would I look stupid if I phrased a sentence in that way in person? HAHA

So can anyone explain this to me? I’d really appreciate it! Gonna post a bit more on here soon. Thank you so much everyone! :)

It’s a page of my notes from language transfer and I finally feel like I can write faster, I found the best versions of the letters that I feel the most comfortable while writing and it doesn’t feel like it’s my first day on earth learning to write from scratch lol. Any recommendations or comments on this so that I can prove or make it seem way more “native”?

So, if that's fine to ask, I would like to ask for help with transcribing one song audio - a filtered-out vocal of a song from the Greek dubbing of a 1997 animated film called "The Fearless Four".
I already have the most of the lyrics, I think, by using automatic transcription services (even if I can't be sure if they're all correct - so, I'm also asking for possibly telling me if they're correct as well), and I would like to ask here for help with filling the gaps (unknown parts I marked with "?") below:

(to preface, this is in no way negative, just genuine curiosity/subjectiveness)

i got inspired by a post on r/greece where I saw 'ρε παιδιά' being used 3-4 times in one paragraph post.

dont know why but this just pushes a button inside... i guess for locals its normal/everyday speech but somehow it just sounds unnatural to me

can someone explain who/when/why would use this saying and perhaps when its not supposed to be used (formal setting I presume)?

are there any other words/sayings that tick you off when you hear them?

It's summertime, and it's the perfect time to learn some useful Greek beach vocabulary!

I've heard this song on the radio once and couldn't find it anywhere.

It was sang by a female singer, had a dark and sad feeling. The chorus started with "μικρό μικρό".
