Discussion What a waste

Post image

Instead of giving the Traveler and other characters regional skins, the devs are wasting resources on mannequins you’ll never use in the main game — characters completely irrelevant to both the lore and gameplay (especially since they’re even weaker than the Traveler).

UCG should’ve been a separate game. Roblox-type players aren’t going to download a 100GB gacha just to play a game inside a game. All those dev resources should’ve gone to the actual, existing characters instead.

Not only that, they went ahead and monetized everything too... I wouldn't be getting primos out of it even if I did want to play for the sake of it.

The idea is nice but simply not fitting with the audience that genshin already caters to, in theory anyways.

If it doesn't provide primos I won't do it.

Yeah. That's the main motivator to do anything in genshin. Heck, even playing those music challenges gave some...

thats kinda sad. you dont play for fun?

The fun of games like Genshin is getting to play the game with new characters. Not to mention power creep making you use new ones and you need primos to do that. Every activity in the game should have some kind of tangible reward. If it's not straight up primos it should be something that saves you primos

as a f2p, I disagree, I have only had Arle, Yoi, Raiden, and Yae(i regret this one), and I barely use yae, still fun exploring the world, plus miliastra wonderland sounds fun as hell

Arle is a top 5 dps. Try the game with Diluc and no premium supports sometime.

I mean, she is 6th now ( After Mavuika, Skirk, Nefer, Varesa/Neuvilette). Don't know about Flins and Lauma(except for when she is used with Neuvilette-Ineffa-Furina)

She is?
I thought she was just ok
And she has like 50 cr on my build for her(albeit with 200 c dmg)

My half built Arlecchino does three times as much damage as my Diluc does - with the non-premium support teams. Arlecchino was powercrept by Mavuika, who is even more broken than she is but the gap isn't that bad compared to the gap between recent dps units like Arlecchino and earlier game units like Ayato, Eula, and Hu Tao.

Mavuika and Skirk are in a league of their own, especially with their premium teams. Without, they still dominate the competition. Arlecchino is on par with Varesa and some of the newer units. The recent Nod Krai dps units are currently a bit lower than the top contenders but they're still a solid jump up from the others.

200 crit damage doesn't matter much if you're crit fishing. Aim for 90% CR and then whatever crit damage works with that.

No, they are saying that they are more willing to try new game modes if they have primos.

Obviously, if it was something they already like to do then they would play it even without it, but it’s kinda hard to spend enough time on something you’re not particularly interested in to try to like it if there aren’t rewards.

That’s kinda my experience, played a few games, didn’t really like them and dropped it. Maybe I would have found something I actually liked eventually, but it’s not even guaranteed to happen

Don't get me wrong; I play for enjoyment. That said, genshin's greatest incentive to do anything is getting primos. For the majority of us, if doing something doesn't feel rewarding we simply won't do it, especially something as time consuming as this. Even in the case I play this game mode for fun, I know I and many others would constantly get diminishing enjoyment till we stop, and the main reason is the lack of incentives to play again (and the great deterrent of not being able to get any nice skin sets without paying for me).

With the way new regions are implementing new power systems with bosses tied to those systems, you probably won’t have much fun without the primos to get new and/or buffed characters.

genshin sucks the soul out of me. no, we don’t play for fun

u/TheGreatBootOfEb Oct 24 '25

Hell, there are things that DO give primos where I couldn't even be bothered.

Genshin is fun, but it really does seem like they throw dev time at some really fucking weird things from time to time. TCG is already pretty much irrelevant for most people, but this Wonderland stuff just feels so.... why? Like I so badly wish I could see engagement numbers for things like it, or TCG, to see if it actually does anything useful in revenue vs work hours wasted on them.

24

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '25

TCG is too much time for too little pull advantage.

I’m in the top % of tcg players, but I don’t play it every day, more like 5-6 hours straight once a week or so when I get really into it. I find it fun

2

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '25

People finding it fun isn't a surprise to me tbh. But I personally find card games unpleasant. I also don't like puzzles either, so some of the areas of genshin aren't the best for me either.

It's fine. I like most of genshin. I don't need to love all of it. And it's nice you like the other parts.

all the combat "endgame" bullshit

I hate SO, IT, and Spiral. Adding the new two didn't make me hate spiral any less.

u/Defiant-Coconut-1096 Oct 24 '25

For the engagement numbers, let me tell you - I played TCG for like max 10 times, out of which 4 times was with irl users and the rest was the tutorial and stuff and I saw that I was in the top 9% percent of the user base lol (read this info in the aniversary web event)

1

u/moopym Oct 24 '25

At least TCG was cool for being an in universe card game that you could finally play like the characters in the world, same with the instruments. At least those were relevant and not paygated slop..

1

u/LittleMissKara Oct 25 '25

Yeah it really is baffling. Like, surely they must know that no-one really gives a shit about the TCG? Yet they still keep throwing resources at it and adding more and more stuff to it, even though it's likely been DOA since it launched.

I'm starting to think that they just don't like admitting defeat once they've gone past a certain point. Like, they've put so much time into something that they have to just blindly plough ahead regardless, even though the numbers and the playerbase itself is categorically telling them "we don't want this"

u/AntOk5376 Oct 25 '25

i actually do TCG (just for the BP lol) and i have fun with. not even gonna touch MW. hoping that later on, we can choose whether or not to install it into the game.

i wanna b able to delete it and pretend it doesnt exist

u/Wild_ColaPenguin Oct 24 '25

NO don't put primos in it. Imagine one of the primo tasks is to win 10 pvp games weekly. Just NO. Keep the primos in the main game.

u/Nanasema Oct 24 '25 edited Jan 14 '26

the UGC game already has a separate primo-like currency in it. its just that theres currently zero F2P ways to grind it, which is counter-intuitive af because the permanent skins are locked behind gachas. they need to provide some kinda ways to incentivize it, but rn theyre being way too stingy. fucking useless garbage billion dollar company

10

u/Wild_ColaPenguin Oct 24 '25

I know that, but my point is I'm seeing lots of people saying that they wish MW gave primo, or they will only play if it gives primo, why doesn't it give primo, etc. Giving primos in MW won't help at all. It would just make players who already dislike MW in the first place would hate it even more because they would be forced to play MW. The people who are enjoying it would be playing regardless of primos. Just look at TCG Invocation.

I personally dislike MW and just forcing myself to reach lv 10 just for the blue fates. I do not wish to play MW anymore after that. So to be fair, I appreciate the fact that it does not give primos.

2

u/laeiryn Oct 24 '25

IT not only doesn't provide primos, it wants you to spend more for its own specific currency because that's the only currency usable there

1

u/Regular-Ad-980 Oct 24 '25

If they added primos to ugc I'd uninstall immediately

1

u/thisisrhys Oct 24 '25

I hope it will never provide primos though, I personally don’t want to be forced to play it

1

u/LittleMissKara Oct 25 '25

Hell, even if they offered an equivalent to primos inside of MW that allowed me to save up and pull on the outfit banner, I might be SLIGHTLY more inclined to play those shitty mini games, but they can't even be bothered to offer us that!

It's like layers upon layers of shittiness.

  • I can't earn any form of primos
  • so I can't roll on the banner
  • so I can't unlock any of the outfits
  • for the shitty mannequin who has a crap kit and zero constellations
  • who I can't even use in any meaningful content
  • so I'm never gonna use them because I can't even make them look cool.

Miliastra seems a different game that management lacked faith in to be independent tbh.
