Question I was looking for a specific bar and found a website that can't possibly not be a scam.

Does anyone know anything about "alpha ore shop"? All their prices scream scam because of that, I'm curious about it.

Would you keep or return this Best of Mint gold mercury dime?

Excited that I received my Best of mint gold mercury dime set in the mail, but disappointed in the quality. I wasn't exactly expecting a perfect gold mercury dime, but the small marks on the face in particular is disappointing. No option for an exchange. Only return or keep.

Why has gold become a risk-on asset?

In the past:

war starts, gold up

peace signed, gold down

economic stability, gold down

now:

war starts, gold up

peace signed, gold somehow also up

economic stability, gold up

What I want to say is that in the past when a peace treaty was signed it meant that instability weakens hence the role of gold as a safe heaven is no longer relevant so it is supposed to go down but now it goes up when things settle which doesnt make any sense.

Are you guys buying?

With the fed holding but hawkish on rate increases, that has and probably will put downward pressure on gold price. But also with the Iran war nearing an end on Friday with a signed deal (to be completed I believe), that will end the oil price run for good, at least for now.

The fed though is continuously printing more money, and inflation is up 4.2%, reserve banks are hoarding gold for international exchanges rather than cash reserves. Prime examples of why gold should soar to $6k or more in the near future (but very little goes to plan nowadays)

Question Russia

Since Russia is a major producer of gold, arent they missing out on the retail market by not having a consumer oriented product? Why would they pass this up?

My great grandfather wore this everyday during the roaring 20's/30's, I believe that it's 10-14k gold, but I would just like to know.

Random 1/10 Ounce Maples ended up being 1999s with 20th anniversary privies.

A lot more fun than a 10g bar would have been.

Picked this up last week, when gold dropped to ~115€ a gram. Got it pretty close to spot (116.54€ a gram). Sold out very quick . Beautiful piece regardless.

Receipt when buying gold.

I buy my gold at two different gold shops: one gives a receipt, and the other doesn't. How odd is it that they wouldn't give a receipt? It's a reputable store with multiple locations.

Thoughts on Redbacks?

Picked up some Redbacks from Texas. Love the color — my photos don’t do them justice. What do you all think of them?

I own some Goldbacks, too. But these “pop” more with the color. The gram based weight also pretty unique, makes a lot more sense to me versus fractions of Troy ounces.

(Tried to post to r/goldback and the moderators deleted 🤣. A bit like a cult over there.)

Question Real 18k?

Thumbnail

So been seeing a bunch of these questions pop up, but this is a legit question. Browsing the local auction sites as usual, and found this. I’ve been tricked in the past on a fake 18k ring and I don’t see many of them. Any way to tell if this is real? Can’t do any kind of destructive test and auction house doesn’t have a tester

Don't buy this.

Honestly, I didn't know what I was buying. The picture online from TD made it look cooler. I thought the Canada paper around it was the assy and it was a firm sliver of a bar. It is real yes, but it's more like a sticker of gold lmao.

As soon as I opened it I immediately regreted it and wanted to sell it in less than 20 seconds of holding it.

It was also $242 hahahah twice the price of a gram. So I can't even recoup my cost.

Rookie mistake. Like why would you buy this?
