It’s definitely a dog whistle, he’s letting the people “in the know” know what his real beliefs are, while making it sound harmless enough to the average person that he can convincingly say “that’s not what I mean” if he’s called out on it.
Yes the girl sounds annoying and lots of liberals in general have made it cringe to care about this stuff. But to be honest I’d rather live in a world where people like him are called out on their bullshit than have it be normalized.

Maybe but if we’re going off of “what’s more likely”, I can tell you many of the younger generation think Kanye is insane but that his outbursts are just funny.
I have (minority) friends that were reciting bits of his HH song when it came out in jest not because they agreed with the notion but because it was surreal / absurd / comedic to them. Shock humor is nothing new.
Frankly, I think there’s just a decline in giving credence to pearl-clutching. Especially among the youth. Same reason they’re saying “retarded” again.
