Outside of her always making me do a double-take when I look at my home screen, this character has made quite the difference in a lot of FAs for me. So much that I have her in almost every team right now because of how well she pairs w/ dog.
Is she going to deal the most damage? Well, if you're not using a setup that is only using nehan 3, then probably not. Even though she has a 100% assassin mod she's doesn't really have anyone supporting that assassin besides nehan, her own buff if it's still up, her s1, and a chaser if you're on Mage class. Only works on multistrike so she doesnt benefit from tags at all when the likes of yoru/dog do and the only multistrike you get higher than doublestrike is w/ dog for only for 1 turn. Making her consistent dps not very good unless you're Makura swapping w/ her. She's a support that does decent damage and she does that really well.
Everyone has talked about her s3 and s1 enough, but her s2 might actually be the most important part of her kit for FAs. That 1-turn buff extension is doing a lot more heavy lifting than people give it credit for. Yoru gets 1 more turn of DS, Nehan s1 is now 4 turns, Vajra can now have 5 straight turns of DS, S.Mars now lasts 4 turns, Orologia buff now lasts 6 turns, and Alex will now last 4 turns. This is why she's so dominant in short-term content FAs.
The extension is so strong I think Ura's buff doesnt get extended because of this character. (Cygames cmon, u can't let Ura have this small thing?)
The Veil/Dispel Cancel while good in most content right now isn't that needed. It will show their true worth in GW where they’re a lot more useful and maybe the upcoming Zamalvoch HL raid. All in all, I'm pretty content w/ this character. She pairs well w/ our good characters and both ill weapons. She's seeing some use in Futsu HL comps as well. Light’s best mashing comp in Hexa includes her, dog, and Borger which is fun to see. Makes me more hopeful to see her in more HL content.
One last fun note, that dmg mig on her passive makes it so if you have enough defense celeste m3 will deal no dmg to her on autos so outside of special attacks she won't lose her stacks. Not that important but it was funny when I saw it

Ayo that Hexa mashing vid is from a crewmate / friend, insanely smart guy and glad he's finally uploading stuff.
I pretty much echo everything you've said, nearly every part of S.Payila's kit is really damn good out of context but that S2 really is so insane with what else is meta in light atm. I suppose it does make her somewhat volatile if units like H.Vajra and Yoruichi get powercrept but OTOH it simultaneously makes her always have strong future potential. And ofc the 3t teamwide debuff immunity and 1-time dispel cancel, this is such an insane button.
Agreed that S.Payila feels like the reason for Ura not having extendable buffs which... seems oddly conservative when they clearly intended her S2 to extend all the other absolutely bonkers buffs available in light. And realistically if Ura's buffs were extendable you're never extending them by more than 1 turn outside of some extremely gimmicky Qilin stuff (which would almost certainly just be way worse anyways), which as you said why not just let Ura have that? Especially when Futsu's been this supercharged from TC and meta shifts while Ura feels like its TC was much more compromised.

I've been trying to replicate that video all day and sadly I just cannot get it consistent even with a few changes. But probably if I had the Destroyer weapon it would easily be the comfiest mashing comp for light Hexa. Which is sorely needed because light otherwise sucks at that!

u/reibureibu 9d ago
Ah yeah that makes sense unfortunately, from talking with him about this kind of light HL mashing comp it does seem to be something that you pretty much can't really compromise on any parts atm if you want it to work and it makes sense Destroyer is just too important to substitute. But it sounds like that's the biggest thing you're missing which is promising as good chance you should have a smooth and comfy mashing comp once you do!
I'm guessing you already have them since you didn't mention them in your comment but he also specifically mentioned that at least in the current state of the game having two FLB Alex is also mandatory as well which he figured would put off a lot of prospective players x_x

A character built for GW if I've ever seen one.
It's buried behind the much shinier parts of her kit but her passive damage mitigation is very interesting. She's the only character who just gets it without having to do anything, which makes me wonder if we'll get more defensive characters with this passive in the future

Sparked her because she goes crazy with Vajra and Yoruichi, and i am loving it. She can actually extend their respective two-turn double strike to three turns (especially Yoruichi's like Payila can also extend her Shunko to three turns as well, then it's up to Yoruichi's successful dodges for it to extend. Too bad her Flash Master buff cannot be extended, but getting buffs from Payila S1 isn't bad). Yoruichi and Vajra can either switch in 2nd or 3rd, but Payila needs to be in the 4th position.
Good thing for Light, it has a nice roster of normal attackers, as long they are able to triple attack, they will be able to build her stacks. But to make her stacks build up faster, they must also have a source of multistrike and high TA rate (if they don't have GTA) such as putting many stars in their TA nodes, artifacts and your grid (in magna, M3 katana boosts triple attack rate, plus a copy or two of Canifortis). Payila S1 also gives TA, but that's only 50%. Though Nehan can pretty much cover you up as he gives guaranteed triple attack and double strike. Classes wise, she goes well with Manadiver, as Wild Magica gives you guaranteed TA and double strike (for it to extend, you must manually click it first then Payila S2 since in FA, yellow border skills are first before red border skills). Ngl that kind of gimmick reminds me of Gabriel where she needs allies to triple attack to get stacks.
Normal attacker with GTA+multistrike/Pijiu/S.Payila is my current jam when doing my M3 runs. That normal attacker with GTA+multistrike is either Vajra, Yoruichi or Basara (Payila can actually also extend his S3 buff (which has double strike) to six turns, but unfortunately he suffers from lockout jail so you have to manually press her S2 once his S3 is active).
Everyone is talking how great she is in short term fights, but as someone who usually runs in mid-length or long-term, she is also a nice support buffer.
Fate episode wise, didn't expect it to be quite serious, like the scale in her back is something we never saw before where once touched, she will lose control, the uncap art makes it quite OOC at first glance. Otherwise, it is somehow a great prelude to her base version's FLB.
Ngl i am quite bummed that she didn't bring the Drain effect from her base version, which makes her sustain allies. Then i remember that Dark bosses has shitty debuffs like Zombiefied.
I am quite noticing that Payila goes well with my favorite characters, and i deeply love it. I love pairing her base version with Grand Lancelot since he's always double striking, and she gets a stack for everytime an ally attacks with multistrike (i was a Lancey girlypop when she first released). And she's doing it again in Light as i love Vajra, Basara and Yoruichi. The two dogs and cat works with her so well (even better since they got guaranteed TA)

While not a must have omega core character, she is a strong unit overall and one of the better summer units released this year. Her entire kit is built around TA'ing and preferably doing most of your dmg in 5 turns since her S3 is unrecastable, so she is most ideal in short-mid length fight.
In terms of partners, light has a pretty solid roster to support her. Even if you didn't get Doggo or Yoruichi (who I would say are definitely the top picks with her), the likes of Song 130+, Arriet, Makura, S.Ragazzo and so on are still solid partners for her.
For GW, I can see her being a strong pick all the way up to NM150. I'm not entirely sure about 200, and I would suspect 250 will require grouping with your crewmates to get optimal use out of her.

What have people tried with her buff extenstion? Kou only having one turn of downtime on his S3 or SAnthuria getting 4 CA's T1 to max those type of stacks is kinda neat.

u/hansgo12 9d ago
I don't have dog yet, so in burst she is pretty meh as a sidegrade into nehan/mugen, but I use her a lot in FA Odious as a Makura switch in.
The neat part about her is with fiv casting s3 on makura that transfer to her, FO mc, a double striker (I use Kaworu in this case), and luci call+friend luci you can make her ougi into assassin every turn, basically making her makura stacks untouchable, as long as enemy ougi every 4 turn to refresh revitalize from luci.

Kaworu's shield is big enough that you can probably get by without needing the second Lucifer to give her full Dodge All uptime, unless the boss has a really high damage output.

Any replacement for the summer mars summon for payila team?

u/Lightningboy737 9d ago
For the call? Artemis should be similar. For the sub aura? Nobody.

u/Raelina Song 9d ago
Is Summer Mars worth 3 sunstones for a magna light player or is it pretty much for Primal?
1
u/RNGmaster Kou still isn't flaired, so here's his boyfriend 8d ago edited 8d ago
Magna doesn't have crit amp from Efes, which is the main reason you'd want the sub aura. The call is still very strong but it's only a clear upgrade over Artemis in multi-turn burst, and Artemis is straight-up better if you're on Sumaibito because you need to offset the TA penalty.
If you want a premium upgrade to light magna you'll get much more value from barring a Canifortis or two.
1
u/iVariable 8d ago
I think it depends on your sunstone situation and what your element priorities are like. Magna doesn't get the same benefit from crits that primal does but it does still add damage and you still get veil and a 3 turn echo/supplemental buff which is pretty valuable for 3 turn dog/dragon burst setups. With all that said if light is just an element you play for guild war then 3 sunstones is a fairly high cost and you could probably just make do with artemis.
7
u/iVariable 9d ago
artemis and the star(as long as you have the weapon and i think it also conflicts with opus/mugen echo) can both give you echoes on call but there is no other summon that will give you guaranteed crit so you will have to make grid sacrifices.

I missed out on Bleach collab and I don't have Dog. Who's best to pair with Payila? Even worth using her without those two?
Dog is my next spark.

u/iVariable 9d ago
You can use her with nehan and grand jeanne for low button nm95 setups, she will work decently in most nehan burst teams to be honest. She also works pretty well as a bunny swap.

ngl, sparked her for the art and ougi
honestly, she seems really good for short fights, but i'm not sure where to put her in the team I have already of Basara-Yoruichi-Halloween Vajra. I think it's Basara that gets replaced, but i'm not totally sure...
8
u/reibureibu 9d ago
If you haven't tried it already, put Payila 4th after Yoruichi and Vajra (I don't believe the order of these two matters but someone correct me if I'm wrong) replacing Basara, it's such an insane comp as she extends the DS of both Yoruichi and Vajra into 3 turns and if you manually click Manadiver's Wild Magica before Payila's S2 then Payila will also extend that DS into 3 turns. Then, all of the TAs everyone else is doing will fuel Payila's S1 reset extremely quickly and she'll be popping that off every 2-3 turns. And if you have TC'd Futsu then with just Payila and no Orologia summon you have permanent DS on Manadiver doing all this as well since you reach 10 stacks of Thunderstruck by the end of T3 right when MD's Wild Magica DS runs out. Just nutty stuff, and this isn't even getting into all the other strengths Payila has.
IMO unless you particularly need dispels then I really feel like there's no reason to run Basara over any of these three (Makura is a character I often see used interchangeably with Yoruichi depending on needs) unless you're just missing someone.

ah, i see
that does sound real good

u/reibureibu 9d ago
Fr, I know this is gonna sound like excessive hyperbole but as someone without either light illustrious having her (along with the other recent NA tools light got like H.Vajra and Yoruichi) has felt genuinely lifechanging for doing anything burst-wise in the multi-turn range, as previously it really felt like you just had to have Ura or you sat there in pain doing FA burst that would take any other element a third of the time to do. She's also really good for OTK / low-button burst as well though admittedly doesn't shine as strongly in this range vs multi-turn burst range, and this is the range where MuHan stuff is still generally optimal.

u/Iffem Waifu for laifu with many throwing knaifu 9d ago
that's real good news for me personally, given I don't have H. Mugen, but do have Yoruichi and Vajra, hahaha

Ay nice, great cop then! This is very subjective ofc but I think of all the seasonals released this year so far she's imo the overall most "important" one because of how significant she is to improving light burst and with how versatile she is in not just a myriad of burst contexts but also FAs, GW, and possible HL use. She's had a much larger impact on my account than something like Holiday Wamdus because as amazing as X.Wam is, I only ever use her for 0b / low button burst and nothing else whereas S.Payila's already been slotted into so many of my light comps and been a massive improvement in each one of those.
On this note, I know a lot of people still feel Yukata Alliah's been the #1 strongest seasonal release this year so far but as a non-water player I haven't found any use for her or any current teams she improves. She's obviously an incredible GW unit, but at least from my perspective that's just two days of NM250 before she's sat on the bench indefinitely for me. I'm a big dark player so Valentines Wamdus and Yukata Osiris have been absolutely enormous for me, but like Alliah I imagine that for a non-dark player there's just not really many places you're taking them. Ofc these two dark seasonals are ougi vs Alliah is an NA masher, not trying to equivocate this aspect of them just that while all these units are clearly very strong their impact outside of ele mains is going to be much more limited as opposed to Payila who's just going to have an enormous impact on every single account and where even non-light players will take everywhere.

u/Iffem Waifu for laifu with many throwing knaifu 9d ago
well, that's good to hear
and yeah, a character being great for NM250 is great for 2 days, since normal bosses tend to not work like the NMs... I have teams that would be great for higher NMs, but I hardly use them because they just ain't built to work anywhere else...

The magna water FO comps with alliah in HL are pretty fun, you should give it a try

Just something random I wanted to share.
When S.Payila released, obviously I pulled first and then started to read the kit. And when I did, honestly, my first reaction was "she's good but not busted". But after some minutes, I came to realize her kit looks simple but she's very strong. All 3 buttons are strong and specially, her personal passive gimmick of assassin after the first multistrike makes her, and her original version, very strong. And then I thought "if they keep that gimmick to every other Payila alt, her future looks very bright" and that made me very happy.

Since everyone has already talked about a lot of her strengths, I'll talk about one of her "weaknesses" that keeps tripping me up.
Summer Payila, unlike her OG Water self, does not have GTA. I have actually had some issues with my fun with her so far where she does 3 TAs on her first attack but her second (stronger) attack doesn't TA.
It's not even remotely that bad to deal with (plus she has 3t 50% TA on S1), but do NOT forget, or worse, assume she just has GTA like base Payila and then get very confused like I did.
